Under the Blue Sky

Going back to New York City is wonderful.
Although I spend most of my time at the UN Headquarters and my previous office, Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations, I was blessed to be able to breath its fresh (and cold) air and enjoy the clear blue.
Well, although technically it's Fall, but the weather has dropped to single digit Celsius when I'm here.
Looks like my plan to escape Jakarta's soaring heat works really well.
Too well, as a matter of fact :)
It's not that easy to adjust from 39 degrees Celsius or 110 degree Fahrenheit to just 8 degree Celsius or 48 degree Fahrenheit, in just a week!

Mini me and I before the meeting

Here are a few snaps that I took in between my meetings.
And tell you what...no matter how many photos I have taken (perhaps thousands of them), I can never get enough of the beauty of the sky.
Those clouds... never fail to amaze me!
Do you like watching the sky as well?

Mini me and I have been working too hard :)

one fine day..

WW: Welcome to the United Nations Security Council

Indonesia won its bid as one of the Non-Permanent Members of the United Nations Security Council!
Our Foreign Minister and the rest of the high level delegation joined us on the last week racing to the D-Day of the election on June 8th, 2018.

Right after the election, all the Ministers of the new Non-Permanent Members of the UN Security Council took picture in the legendary room.

Cheers..
Wish us luck!
May Indonesia's tenure in the Security Council bring more positivity and real action to the works of the UN Security Council and the organization
as a whole.

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and have fun with the linky party :)

Cloudy Wintery Day

After series of double digit subzero days, finally NYC gets slightly warmer days.
Well, we call 32 - 40 degree Fahrenheit, or 0 to 4 degree Celsius warm now after being hit by minus 20 C and colder.
It's obviously a new standard for us, Indonesians, who are so accustomed to tropical weather!

Anyway, as the temperature gets warmer, we have cloudy days.
And this Friday, I just went out to the UN Rose Garden before having an early meeting.

The rose garden was obviously missing all those colorful roses already as winter is coming
But the whole UN 'backyard' remains my favorite place.
The sky sure was cloudy but I loved the breeze.
This is something I can enjoy.

Cherry Blossoms at the UN Headquarters

Who is not in love with the cherry blossoms?
Well, perhaps those with allergies .. but I do love cherry blossoms.

If you notice, I have been posting our cherry blossoms seasons here in NYC.
Like Cherry Blossoms at Corona Park, Flushing Meadows, Queens that we visited last year.
We have been wanting to go to Washington D.C. and enjoy the famous Cherry Blossoms festival there, but my schedule is always conflicting :(.

This year, we have put D.C. in our list but it coincided with the Spring Break and by the time we went back to NYC, we heard that most of the cherry blossoms in Tidal Basin were gone due to heavy rain and wind.

So, I just enjoy the cherry blossoms at the small section of the UN Rose Garden at the UN Headquarters.

One cloudy day, amidst the never ending meetings, I sneaked out and had a brief 'cherry blossoms moment' at the UN Rose Garden. Using my smartphone, I surely snapped a few pictures.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

The cherry trees planting in the UN Rose Garden were made possible by the Lasker family, in the loving memory of Albert Davis Lasker, an American philanthropist, as you can see in the plaque below.

Wonderful Wednesday with Oh My Heartsie Girls

happy spring, everyone..

Beautiful, warm days are indeed coming.
And I love NYC more when the weather is friendly like this.

It has been another wonderful week for us, even with tons of laundry and dirty clothes from our road trip :).

But the sunny day is too appealing to ignore so I've tried to catch some remaining cherry blossoms, and I successfully failed :)). Instead, we just went to New York International Auto Show with my hubby and the kids. It was quite entertaining in a way.

Then on Monday, as I came back to the UN for more meetings, I just realized that the Rose Garden in the back of the UN Headquarters is beautifully blooming.

Overlooking the Queensboro Bridge in the back..

The lines of cherry trees bring the beauty of spring to the UN, amidst the never-ending meetings we have inside the building. Glad I had the opportunity to enjoy a leisure, brief walk there.
