Let's continue our journey in exploring the culinary adventure in Wellington, the coolest little capital of the world.
I will take the opportunity to take you to Monsoon Poon, a cozy corner for your special day, especially for South Asian food lovers. Known as South East Asian Trading House Restaurant and Bar, it is located in the central part of Wellington, to be exact at 12 Blair Street, Te Aro, Wellington. Moonsoon Poon has gained its reputation as an exotic corner, offering more than just delicious, people's favorite palates, but also the experience.
Welcome to Monsoon Poon
I really love this exotic entry way
As you enter the premise, you will be transported to another part of the world, - or more likely, to several parts of the world stretching in the region of my beloved origin. For sure, you have to follow the health protocol by signing in through NZ COVID-19 tracker and showing your vaccine pass to the staff before you are assigned to your seats.
Don't forget your vaccine pass
Before ordering our meal, I was enjoying the colorful, feel-at-home interior design in this restaurant. You will definitely see so many beautiful and intricate traditional fabrics from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and more.
Some fun, rustic old ads and wooden accents as well as statues can be found dotting the rooms. Not to mention in the restroom. In this area, you will see so many photos and posters as well as information about donations and charities that the restaurant and its networks have shared in the area.
Well, let’s take a look at the ambience from some photos I took there. You can see why I love this place.
Such a lovely collection of red lampions, paintings and plates

Now, let's take a look at the menu and the food. As I have mentioned above, they are serving South East Asian cuisines and you will definitely see some curry from Thai, Bangkok street noodles, Thai beef salad, Singaporean Fried noodles, Bali prawns, nasi goreng from Indonesia, Pho Bo and more. During our visit, we orders the green curry, Singaporean noodles, beef and black pepper and chili tofu. Sorry if the photos were not that good as I forgot to take the photos after eating half of them LOL.

All in all, I love the food, the ambience and the interior design of this place. You should try it as well if you are around. Here are more photos I took around the restaurant and hopefully when you come down to Wellington, you get a chance to try their menu.
Missing food from home is no longer a problem for me and The Frakarsas.

Risol ragout dari Warung Nongkrong, Tempat Hits di Bandar Lampung yang Harus Kamu Coba
Hi semua..
Salam sehat!
For sure dengan tetap memperhatikan protokol kesehatan dan disiplin dengan 3 M. Pokoknya, a trip back home is always packed with cool stuff.
Warung Nongkrong, Tempat Hits di Bandar Lampung yang Harus Kamu Coba
So recently, I also had some times to meet my dearest ladies in one of our favorite spots. Just like in many cities across the country, we have so many cool cafes and hip restaurants being opened. Bandar Lampung is no exception. Compared to the time when I was born and raised in this lovely city, Bandar Lampung is now dotted with eateries, cafes, and lovely Instagramable restaurants. Some of them are managed and run by my friends as well.
Kita sudah datang sebelum Warungnya buka hehehe
So in one of our visits to Lampung I came to the place that has been recently reopened. Warung Nongkrong namanya. Terletak di Jl. Z.A Pagaralam no. , Kedaton, Bandar Lampung, this place is indeed very strategic. Located right on the side of the main road, very near to several campuses and universities in the area, Warung Nongkrong certainly attracts many crowds who love to spend some times in a comfortable place over famous Lampungnese coffee and delectable plates. With a touch of industrial design and homy accent, this place is indeed a nice place to visit.
For sure, pastinya kita bertemu dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan yaaaa! Face shield, masker, jaga jarak (mendekat pas foto aja bentaar 😇) dan rajin cuci tangan plus pakai sanitizer untuk ruangan maupun tangaan.
Some of the food we tried in Warong Nongkrong. Banyak juga hehe..
It is indeed now a must for all restaurants and public places to implement 3M in Indonesia: wearing masks, washing our hands properly and frequently; and keeping safe physical distance. Here in this cafe, when you first come your body temperatures will be checked and you are requested to wash your hands. Moreover, hand sanitizers are also available. I also saw that the tables and chairs are cleaned frequently with disinfectant.
And now, let's see the menu! My favorite part indeed! There are various menus you can definitely try here. Starting from the appetizers, main course and desserts, you can also enjoy a wide range of incredible Lampungnese coffees which are famous for their bold tastes and aroma. Something that you should not miss while coming here.
Risol Ragout and Kroket keju. super yuuuum..
One of my fave is of course the risol. No MSG lagi! Dua - duanya enak. Anak - anak juga sempat coba burger, chicken strips, siomay, Korean garlic cheese bread, singkong keju, nasi goreng, nasi iga and more. Ternyata banyak aja yaaa hahaha.
Happy me with ice choco asli dari Pesawaran, Lampung
Not to mention local blend, yang tersaji mantap dalam kopi tubruk Lampung. Moreover, you can order various ice blended beverages including strawberries smoothies, matcha frappe, nutella choco frappe, red velvet frappe, and lychee squash and more. My .. I can go on and on with those drink list indeed.
Btw, I managed to make a video on one of my visits here, featuring my dearest friends and cousin, Indri and Gheghe, as well as the owner, Linda Sumadewi. It's already in YouTube (here is the link of Warung Nongkrong video) and hope you can watch it fully.
If you want to know more, langsung kepoin IG nyaaa yaa, bisa check out di sini: IG Warung Nongkrong.
Cheers from the 4 of us at Warung Nongkrong
Alamatnya Warung Nongkrong adalah Jl. Z.A. Pagaralam no. 30, Kedaton, Bandar Lampung. It is so easy to find this place as it is located by the main road. You won't miss it!
So, that's a little review I have for Warung Nongkrong(WN) in Bandar Lampung. Hope you get to visit this lovely place and let's support the local business in our neighborhood.
We start traveling again these days with health protocol and new normal norms.
I had a working visit to Bandung, the capital city of West Java, for 3 days. Together with my hubby, we drove from Jakarta and it took us around 3 hours to arrive at Hilton Bandung, where we stayed. Well, this is the second time we stayed here as we really enjoyed this global-chained hotel. Too bad this time my kids didn't come along as we didn't really stay that long either.
Welcome to Hilton Bandung
Since I had meetings here, I didn’t really go out much but we did enjoy some culinary visit to some famous spots. Some of them are like our favorite places, so my hubby and I walked down the memory lane during our stay. We went to Batagor Kingsley, Se'i Sapi Lamalera, Iga Bakar si Jangkung and Kartika Sari Dago. Well I have to admit those are legendary places which have been famous for a long time.
Here are some of the photos I took while visiting them. Can you guess which one is which :)?
Se'i Sapi Lamalera
Se'i sapi is the traditional smoked beef plates from East Nusa Tenggara. You usually eat it with steam cassava leaves and hot chilli or sambal. Here in Bandung, they have a wide variety of sambal to eat together with the beef.
Se'i sapi for you..

my fave.. with sambal Kecombrang
Batagor Kingsley
This bakso tahu goreng or fried tofu and fish cake is my fave. Whenever I go to Bandung I always ttry to eat here. We even have them take away to Jakarta as well.
Batagor Kingsley Bandung with the soup... super yuuum
Fried Batagor Kingsley Bandung with spicy peanut sauce

Iga Bakar si Jangkung
These grilled ribs, marinated in Indonesian herbs and sauces, are the best!
I tried the soup as well..
A cup of hot tea after a plate of grilled ribs
Hilton Bandung
One of my favorite hotels in the city, not far from the train station and so many interesting spots in the area. I really enjoyed our spacious room and lovely view of the city from my room.
our comfy room at Hilton Bandung
breakfast at the hotel
the amenities are Verbena & Lavender series from Crabtree & Evelyn
Can’t wait to go back to Bandung again soon and explore more. I sincerely hope next time coming here I will be able to meet my dearest blogger friends from Bandung as well. Meanwhile, stay safe, happy and healthy yaaa
Let's continue our adventure. This time, I would like to kindly invite you to join me in my Culinary Adventures in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia.
As I have shared previously (READ: Kanoman Palace, Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia dan Sunyaragi Cave, Cirebon, West Java) , Cirebon is indeed a special place for me and my family as my late grandpa from my late father was originally coming from Cirebon. While we are here in Indonesia, we take some times to visit this city again and again as we still have many relatives to meet plus lovely attractions that I would like to introduce to my kids as well. That includes the culinary experience here.
Cirebon has ben well known for its delicious cuisine. Empal gentong, empal asem, tahu gejrot and nasi lengko are only few examples of this culinary heaven. Not to mention the munchies, like ketan gurih, rengginang rebon and emping manis. The list can go on and on.
Empal gentong is the traditional beef stew from Cirebon, cooked with coconut milk and a mixture of Idonesian spices such as kemiri or bitter nut, sereh or lemon grass, laos/lengkuas or galangal, and daun salam or bay leaves. While empal asemis similar, but it is cooked withouth coconut milk. Instead, it uses tamarind water and belimbing wuluh, a special starfruit with has unique sour taste. Both stew are served with fried onion and slices of fresh spring onion and celery. Tahu gejrot is a special mixture of fried tofu with a sauce made of garlic, chili, tamarind, palm sugar, and sweet soy sauce. My late dad loved tis so much and we cherish this special dish wholeheartedly. We sometimes cook it at home as well. Then nasi lengko is Cirebonese plate of rice with fried tofu and tempe, sprinkled with generous fresh cut cucumber, steamed bean sprout, fried onion, kucai or chives, with spicy (or not) peanut sauce. Oh my, even as I write this, I am drooling and suddenly hungry.
I might need to write more details about more Cirebonese food at later stage but now, let's see some of those scrumptious palates. Tell me whether it brings out your appetite instantly.
So, what do you think?
Which one is your fave?
Have you tried some of them?
