WW: Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue, Bali, Indonesia

Bali and its magical charm!
No wonder it has captured the hearts and souls of millions of people.

There is a constant aura of awe and wonder as you welcome yourself to this Land of Gods and Goddesses.

The last time I went to Bali was in 2013, months before we were scheduled to depart to New York City.  And as ever, Bali is a world of its own. And I am forever smitten.

This time, I have Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue on top of my list.
It took around  25 years and approximately USD 100 million to finish the whole process of building this incredible statue, dubbed as the world's second tallest statue in the world.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana, or famously abbreviated as GWK, is 30m taller than the Statue of Liberty, the icon of the Big Apple.

Here's what I have captured on my last visit there.
It was amazing!
Majestically positioned in a vast area and surrounded by rocky walls, the statue of the Hindu God, Vishnu, or Wisnu in local language, riding Garuda, the mythical bird, is simply admiring.
I can imagine how Mr. Nyoman Nuarta, the legendary sculptor, poured his heart and soul ti this incredible work.

Tell me what you think about this incredible statue.
