WW: Lempuyang Temple, Bali - the Gate of Heaven

Lempuyang Temple, Bali - the Gate of Heaven
Lempuyang Temple, Karangasem, Bali - the Gate of Heaven

Bali certainly has a lot to offer!

No matter how many times you have visited this wonderful place, there will always be something new, something magical that you can definitely find here.

During our recent holiday in Bali amidst the pandemic, we drove to Karang Asem Regency to see one of the ‘dreamiest spots’ viraling in social media. Lempuyang Temple.

Have you been to the Lempuyang Temple?

It took us around 2.5 hours drive from Nusa Dua and once we arrived, we parked and took the shuttle to the closest part of the temple. We paid 50K or USD 3.5 for the shuttle and the same amount for the entrance ticket, including the rent of kain or fabrics we need to wear in this holy praying area, the help of photographer at the gate, and donation.

Sitting in the hilly area overlooking Mount Agung, Lempuyang Luhur Pura or temple is part of the Sad Kahyangan Temple built in the 11 century AD. That is 9 centuries ago. The local guide we met on the spot even said that the temple was built around 2000 years ago! It has 7 temples up until the very top that lie in the middle of a pristine jungle, which can only be reached by approximately 4 - hours hike. And that’s the speed of the locals, not us.

excuse my never - ending photo session at Lempuyang Temple

Lempuyang Temple, strategically located in a plateau that has 1700 stairs, perfectly frames Mount Agung and soon becomes people’s favorite because of its breathtaking beauty. The unique architectures surrounding the temples, with the gate of heaven and the giant dragon statues, add to its magnificent features.

Ma Mija et me :)

When we entered the area, it was drizzling and soon as we took pictures at the gate, it started to rain. Nevertheless, it doesn’t dampen our spirit to enjoy this temple. Even the fog turns the place more magically beautiful.

Here are some more  photos we took during our visit.

Enjoy ♥️♥️♥️

FLOATING BREAKFAST AT THE ROYAL PITA MAHA RESORT, UBUD, BALI

Hi everyone.. Hope all is well and you are always safe, happy and healthy, wherever you are.

The end of the year is so near and I am lucky to have the privilege to spend some days in the most beautiful place on earth. BALI.

Perhaps you have read previous posts on different parts of Bali where I traveled to Ubud, Kuta, and Nusa Dua since October 2020.  Now I would like to share more stories about my recent stay in Ubud, Bali, especially in the Royal Pita Maha Resort. I first came here in October for meeting, then I came back again in the beginning of December with my family. We celebrated our anniversary and my hubby's 45th birthday. and before, we celebrated my daughter's 10th birthday in Nusa Dua. Well, December is indeed special for the Frakarsas!

By the way, as I have shared in my post about Luxurious Stay at the Royal Pita Maha Resort, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia, there are so many lovely things to do and many spots to explore here in this resort. You can see the details of the villa, especially one-bedroom villa with private pool, in my previous posts and my YouTube channel. Check out the video down here!

So, this time I will show you the floating breakfast!
Yup.. floating breakfast!

I have to admit I have been so envious looking at so many Instagram feed showing gorgeous photos of floating breakfast in many lovely hotels, villas or residence. So when I got a chance to experience it myself at the Royal Pita Maha, I didn't think twice LOL.

Actually the breakfast is similar to what you have in the restaurant. During our first stay in this place, we have choice for the breakfast. Not as many or fancy as the buffet breakfast before the pandemic but I love the choices of Indonesian breakfast and the American one.

So I enjoy nasi goreng complete with egg, fried chicken, crispy crackers, chili and pickles. Not to mention fresh fruit and fresh juice. Then 2 staff came to my room to help me setting up the floating breakfast by putting everything on the rattan tray. then voila.. put it on the pool and you have your floating breakfast. As easy as that!

Now, the challenge is hot to enjoy your breakfast in the pool. It's not that easy as it seems. In my case, I took some times to take photos and videos on the pool while enjoying my nasi goreng.  Ribet LOL! But all in all, I do appreciate the help if the staff in preparing the breakfast and the lovely ambience we have at the Royal Pita Maha Resort.

So, what do you think? Will you enjoy the floating breakfast as well?

Traveling back to Bali is just a dream-come-true to me.

After COVID-19 bombarded us and caused tremendous impact in so many aspects of our lives since the beginning of the year, we start making some adjustments to continue our live during the pandemic. Well, we are still fighting it but at this point, with the strict adherence and observation of health protocol and some important norms in 'new normal', we can start doing things we need to do and enjoy. For me, that includes traveling.

welcome to the Royal Pita Maha Resort, Ubud, Bali

Although my first air traveling was related to work, but I have to admit that I was super excited, and a bit anxious at the same time, to actually come back to Bali, the island of paradise. But as we fly, we need to fulfil all the requirements related to our health and safety, such us conducting rapid or swab test before flying, washing hands properly as needed and putting the mask ON every time we are out as well as maintaining physical distance including in the airplane and filling the form at e-Health Alert Card app to ensure the tracking system if necessary. Long story short, those are the new procedures we have to oblige whenever we are flying domestically in Indonesia. I believe foreign visitors have some additional requirements and procedures as deemed necessary, including quarantine.

maintain the physical distance..

But now, in my post, I would like to share my wonderful stay in Ubud on my first trip back to Bali in 2020. The visit was in October 2020 so still in the middle of the pandemic. As you are probably aware of, many hotels and public facilities and places in Bali have implemented CHSE (Clean, Healthy, Safety and Environmentally friendly) approach and principles during the pandemic. this will definitely make us feel safe and comfortable during our visit.

So now, let me invite you to the Royal Pita Maha Resort, Ubud, Bali

This world-class resort is really a place that you should not miss when you come to Bali, particularly UBUD.

Ayung river and the greeneries near the Resort

I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights at its Deluxe Pool villa. It has many types of rooms including those villas with private individual pool, like the one I had.

Super happy me :)

I really enjoy the beauty of this place as well as the surrounding nature which gave us peace and serenity. The room that I have is very spacious with one king bed and different wings for a bathroom and living room plus private pool. I love it so very, very much. The room is beautifully decorated in Balinese accent and the infinity pool is facing the famous green forest with Ayung river afar. You can even hear the sound of the rumbling sound from the river and its natural dwellers.

the greeneries..

The service is great indeed, as you can feel the sincerity of the staff and how they respect guests’ privacy. Since I stayed during the pandemic, some services like spa and yoga were not running yet but they tried their best to serve us during our stay. Breakfast is still limited but delicious and I got a chance to enjoy lunches and dinner here as well which were nice. The restaurant is beautifully located, so you can enjoy the lovely view while enjoying your meals.

I even got a chance to try the floating breakfast! It was quite an experience for sure and although it was tricky to have breakfast in the pool, I enjoyed it! I basically ordered my regular breakfast tot he room and the floating tray then the staff came to set it up for me. I was super happy indeed!

ready for my floating breakfast

Don't you just love it!

Check out my video on YouTube for this floating breakfast at the Royal Pita Maha Resort!

You have various pools in different parts as well for you to enjoy. You will have to take many stairs up and down to explore this resort and it’s good for the exercise. Let alone the beauty of the surroundings which you can enjoy while exploring the resort area. Besides enjoying the private pool, I really love the Holy Spring Pool they have in the lower part of the resort, close to the river and the temple. It’s an amazing place indeed.

Here's the video I made about the room I enjoyed while staying here at the Royal Pita Maha Resort, Ubud, Bali. You can definitely enjoy that in my YouTube channel.

The price of the rooms vary, but they do give a lot of discounts during the pandemic. Best to check out their website at https://www.royalpitamaha-bali.com/villa.html to see more info about the room and the price. My deluxe pool villa normally costs starting from 3 - 4 million per night or starting around USD 200. But you can get the discount around this time.

As for the exact location of the resort, you can check out the details here:

I am already planning to go back here again soon with my hubby and the kids. Hmm... I bet this will be a perfect place to celebrate our series of December birthdays in the family as well as our 16th wedding anniversary.

What do you think? sounds like a perfect plan, right? Let's go!

Coming back to Bali after quite sometimes really thrilled me.

Since the pandemic started roughly in March in Indonesia, I haven't flown anywhere, be it domestic or international flights. For the benefit of us all, all traveling and gathering were cancelled and/or reschedule. Many countries have implemented lock down policy or 14-day quarantine for foreign travelers.  Indonesia is applying similar policy as well.

But as we move on and implement 'new normal' approach during the pandemic which still lasts till now, we start traveling and attending meetings in small scale. Of course under very strict health protocol. In Indonesia, we are obliged to submit non-reactive rapid test or negative swab test result before flying. We also need to download e-HAC or electronic Health Alert Card application on our phone so that the Ministry of Healthy can have proper tracking of us in case there is a spread of COVID-19 from one of our trips. I guess I will share some details about new way of traveling in Indonesia later on separate post.

Long story short, I visited Bali again in the middle of October. It was the first time ever since March 2020. Usually, by the end of the year, I would have visited Bali 3-4 times, for meetings as well as short break with my munchkins. But of course that was before the pandemic. I never thought I could go back to Bali this soon but I was super happy indeed.

I stayed in Ubud (read: The Royal Pita Maha Resort, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia) for three days before I moved to Kuta area and shared in Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. While I stayed here, I made an appointment with some friends from Bali Local Guides,- Jean, Angga, Okta and Irwin. I was super excited as we haven't met in persons before although we have met in so many virtual meet-ups. Jean and I even join some Whatsapp groups together.

So on my last night in Bali (I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights), we planned to meet near the Sheraton Hotel In Kuta. Actually, there is a big mall next to the hotel where we initially planned to meet but since the pandemic, many places close at 8 PM. That's why we decided to look for the place near the area and voilaa... we found Warung Cuci Mata

Warung Cuci Mata, Kuta, Bali Indonesia
welcome to Warung Cuci Mata

It is not so far from Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort and Beachwalk mall, it is very so very convenient to those staying in or visiting the area.

It is situated by the street and you won't miss it.  It has benches and bean bags as well as booths of food vendors. There are various food being offered here,  a mix of traditional, Balinese food as well as hype, most-wanted food and munchies.

Warung Cuci Mata, Kuta, Bali Indonesia
One of the menus

I tried Nasi kuning campur Bali with ayam betutu (It's Balinese way of marinating and cooking chicken and duck, using Indonesian traditional herbs,
super good and spicy), as well as sate telor puyuh or the quail eggs satay, bihun goreng or fried vermicelli, and sambal goreng tempe or the spicy fried tempe, the famous soy bean cake. We also ordered Korean cheese and garlic bread, grilled sausage and churros. All of them are yummy indeed.

The Cheese fries... yuuum

The price is manageable and friendly, like around 2oK Rupiah for a complete set of Nasi Bali and french fries for 15K Rupiah or USD 1. We still have more menu as well here such as fajita and kebab. We all enjoyed our order and loved them all.

Angga, Irwin and Okta from Bali Local Guides

The place is mask - mandatory and you have to clean your hands before entering and temperature checked. Seats are placed in safe distance. The five of us were sitting in one corner with disinfected desks and chairs.

Let's play..

We had so much fun chatting and exchanges gifts. Not to forget taking tons of pictures, including in the playground area which is pretty much Instagramable and cute. The five of us holding various banners and signs from Google Local Guides and posed. Click.. we got series of photos in this very spot.

When we came here, there was a live band playing. Lovely indeed, although it didn't stay that long like it used to be. The place was packed but safely distance from one another. We used our masks all the time, expect while eating and drinking. So I guess this place is highly recommended as it is safe, clean, has lovely menu with friendly price, and open air as well.

Thank you so much Jean, Angga, Irwin et Okta for making our short but sweet rendezvous so enjoyable and memorable as well.

I came here after the malls and many restaurants in Kuta, Bali, closed. I know it's a bit sad to see Kuta this deserted, knowing that this place is famous for its vibes and 24-hour vibrant communities. But during the pandemic, most places close at 8 PM. Hope seen everything will be back to normal and we can again travel as well as gather with family and friends.

Meanwhile, stay safe, happy and healthy, wherever you are!

Welcome to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

Welcome back to Ubud, Bali.

Although I didn't really have much time while visiting Bali recently, I visited one of the waterfalls near our hotel. Tegenungan Waterfall in Ubud, Gianyar Regency is one of the many waterfalls doted in this beautiful area. We took our rented car to Sukawati Village, not far from the famous Sukawati market, the famous arts and crafts center around the area.

Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
the view from above

The entrance ticket is only 20K Rupiah for local here in Tegenungan waterfall. I don't see the information for the foreign tourists somehow but I guess the officer will tell you the price for that. We will have to take steps to go down to get to the waterfall (and up again to go back to the parking lot) and it's quite far, at least for me. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

Along the path, you will see some Instagramable spots and best view of the waterfall from above. They have the bird nest, love frame,  bench, vista point and more.

Down near the waterfall you will Pura or the temple as well as holy spring and swimming pool. I love the fact that the water is so clean and cool. Perfect for Bali humid weather.

When you go near the waterfall, you can see some small stone structures. The current is quite strong, at least when we visited this place. Perhaps because it's in the rainy season.

Check out some more photos I took during my visit here.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple WOrld, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Holy Spring Pool at the Royal Pita Maha Ubud Bali
Cheers from Ubud Bali

Hi everyone..

I started traveling by plane again! I have to admit  I was excited indeed, although deep down I am quite anxious knowing that we have to be extremely careful. We have strict health protocol to follow and that means taking the rapid test or swab test to ensure that you are NEGATIVE from the Corona Virus infection, downloading EHAC or electronic Health Alert Card application, and lining up to verify my test as well as my health alert card. Since the airport was not that crowded, additional lining - up for the verification did not take long.

electronic Health Alert Card in Indonesia or eHAC
sample of eHAC we have to prepare

After 6 long years, I was visiting Ubud again. We had our big Bali break right before heading to New York City back in 2014. And although I managed to travel to Bali, mostly for works, after coming back to Indonesia, I usually spent some times in Nusa Dua or Kuta. So you can imagine how excited I was coming back to Ubud and enjoy every little thing this charming neighbourhood can offer. I didn't really get to explore as I had meetings but during the short break I did walk and hike a bit. The surrounding areas of the Royal Pita Maha Ubad is just amazing. I managed to see the Ajung river, the holy spring pool and the famous Tegalalang rice field. Check out the photos of Ubud here  WW: Breathtaking Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

I sincerely hope I can come back here again with my family soon when the pandemic is over or at least when we have the vaccine.
