WW : Enjoying Lake Taupo, New Zealand

Hi everyone..

Welcome back and I have to admit that I haven't shared many of my trips around Aotearoa New Zealand. Last May, we visited New Plymouth and Taupo.

You can read some stories about it here: Escapade to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo (Part 1) and the Three Sisters and Elephant Rocks.

So now, let me take you around Lake Taupo and the city center.

We stayed in one of the hotels with the access to the lake and in the following day, we strolled around the city before heading back to Wellington. There's a city sign that becomes tourists' favourite and since it's by the lake, many stop by for a while. As you can see up there, the sign is pretty much popular.

We also visited Huka Falls and saw its amazing falls and the bush walk around it. The Falls is not that high but it's surely refreshing to see the sceneries and feel the mist from the falls.

Before that, we also enjoyed the beautiful sceneries along the way from New Plymouth to Lake Taupo.

We then had a lovely lunch in the shrimp farm in the area and tried the Huka Falls Jet! Oh my, it was so much fun indeed! The shrimps we tried there were so fresh! Other food from the menus are also yummy. It's a bit pricey but I guess that's the price you have to pay for delicious, fresh-from-the-farm food.

On our way to Taupo, we took the forgotten highway, which actually lovely and beautiful, although it's longer route than the new highway. We took pictures in the middle of the route as it was only us LOL. It was quite an experience.

So, all in all, we truly enjoy Lake Taupo and the surrounding areas. Hopefully we can explore more and more places in Aotearoa.

WW: Teaching Nadine the Joy of Cycling

 Hi everyone…

We have been enjoying some sunny winter days here in Wellington, which are a bit rare. This July we have seen so many stormy and freezing days, although there’s no snow in windy Welly.

So, while having the sunshine, we decided to go out and had a little hike in Skyview pathway near our house and taught Nadine, my girl, how to bike.

Yes.. biking! Nadine hasn’t really get a chance to learn how to bike properly and my hubby thought that this would be the perfect time for her to learn it properly. We have two mountain bikes at home and soon we will have the fun bike as well as part of the celebration of our Independence Day.

hold it steady, love..

Then off we went to have a little hike and enjoy the sunset while at the same time teach Nadine how to bike. She surely need to practise more and more. My son Bo has been helping a lot as well and they really had a lot of fun laughing each other ๐Ÿฅฐ

Eid Al Adha Mubarak

Wishing all my sisters and brothers who celebrate a wonderful Eid Al Adha.

Eid Al Adha Mubarak!

This is the first celebration of Eid Al Adha that my family and I have in Wellington. We were lucky because we have the celebration of the Eid at our office, the Embassy of Indonesia in Wellington.

We started the praying session quite early at 8 AM and continued with breakfast together with Soto Ayam or the Indonesian chicken soup as the main menu. We also have potluck so various menus we also available. I brought perkedel kentang or potato fritters for this celebration. We had corn fritters, quiche, nuggets and some desserts like fruit pudding, cookies and cakes as well. It was a merry celebration indeed.

The khotbah or the sermont was given by one of our local staff, Ustadz Agam Jaya. He shared the story of qurban or the sacrifice as well as about Hajj or the pilgrimage. It was such a moving story and I sincerely hope my family and I can come and visit Makkah and Madinah for our holy pilgrimage. Ameeen.

We did our qurban in Indonesia, particularly in Lampung, our hometown. Alhamdulillah together with the big family, we can have the cow this year.

As you might know, the values celebrated during Eid al Adha is the beauty of sharing with those who are less fortunate than us and ikhlas, or sincere, sacrificing or  letting go the things we love for our love to Allah SWT, the Almighty. Just like the story of Abraham and Ismail. Sometimes, this simple principle is the hardest in its implementation and that’s why we are reminded every year in this beautiful celebration.

After the prayer and breakfast, we took pictures together and called it a day.

Hope we all always remember the beauty of sharing with others and our love to Our Creator.

Happy Eid Al Adha!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

welcome back and enjoy this amazing landscape

March is nearing its ends and what a busy week we have here!

I have back - to - back meetings with the Capital as well as accompanying my Ambassador to series of Courtesy Call with other Head of Missions, Speaker of the House, Member of Parliaments and other officials from different Ministries, Mayors and more. As taunting as it can be as we need to prepare many things, I find this exercise enriching and colorful experiences. We get to meet different people with different background, personalities and perspectives towards many issues of mutual concerns. I learn a lot about New Zealand and its dwellers, amazing landscapes, the cultural aspects and more. I have to say I am very much privileged to get this opportunity.

The Beehive, the Parliament complex in Wellington NZ

Lately, we have been jogging and strolling around the house, enjoying magnificent sunset and view from Sky view Walkway. Rudi and Bo have been back to the saddles and enjoyed their riding time. I am happy just strolling around and taking more and more pictures.

I have put some of our jogging session on streaming in my YouTube Channel. Go click this one to enjoy that together with me.

And as always,
Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends is ready for you all!
