WW: Snowy Astoria Park

Astoria Park after Jonas, our winter wonderland :)
Look who's having fun here ..

Is that you Olaf?

Really love our snowy Astoria Park :)

ready?

1.You're first!

Welcoming Jonas

Okay, I just can't help it.

We are sooo excited to finally see NYC turn into winter wonderland once again.
Yuuup...thanks to Jonas, soft, fluffy snow is just knocking everyone door here in the next two days.

Snow storm is definitely not a joke but once you get yourself prepared, you can definitely have a cozy session at home safe and sound.

But we got to admit that everyone got so excited this morning as the first pile of snow just stuck in our window. Kids, especially, as we haven't really get the real feel of winter this time around.

So, Udi just unpacked our ski gear boxes, got everything out, put them on, grabbed our camera and in 5 minutes, we all were ready to hit the road :).

we're having fun, ma :)

Astoria Park, here we come...

cheeers...

cold, cold, cold

The blizzard is indeed here to stay.
Persistently howling since the morning, we waited inside just to see when it would stop for a while so that we could go out and play.
But apparently, it was not happening pretty soon, so we just went out and tried to enjoy the snow as much as we can.

cheers...

After a while the snow gets too cold to handle and the wind really hit our face.
So, we called it a day.
And guess what...we might come back here again tomorrow.

Stay warm, people.

All that jazz

Anybody here love fluffy stuff?
I do, especially fluffy sky..
Yuuup.. Fluffy sky :).

Why sky? why not the pillow or food or anything else?
And the answer is..I don't know.
I just can't get enough of watching those shapes of clouds above my head...far in the horizon.
You know how I adore blue sky.
And amidst the cold and freezing days lately here in NYC, how I am so blessed to see those fluffy moments and bright blue sky on top of my head ..

feels like grabbing et hugging the sky :)
You might notice that we recently have some cold days.
Well, what's wrong with cold days? It's winter..what are you expecting, Indah.
It's about time to wear all those layers and gloves and beanies and ear muffs.
Besides, last year we started having snow in October.
With a few storms as the end-of-the-year bonus.

But since we have the autumn-like December and the  warmest Christmas in 2015 (66 degree Fahrenheit at noon)  after the last warm one in 1982 (64 degree Fahrenheit at that time), I feel like winter is not coming.

Again, I keep my hopes up too early and as the Big Apple welcomes 2016, the temperatures drop. and drop. and drop ..

From 66 to 18 degree Fahrenheit
From 19 to minus 8 degree Celcius

feels like -18 and I gotta keep myself warm..

But, the sky still looked beautifully bright.
And blue..
So captivating...

the very day when it was minus 18 :)
I truly enjoy my walked that day until I realized I couldn't feel my ears.
And my hands were numb, even behind my gloves.
Dang..

Fluffy clouds and blue sky really lured me.

when the temperature hits zero degree C or 32 F :)

But again, I still can't get enough of this eternal beauty.
Keep looking up to my Rabb.
Enjoying the masterpiece of my Creator...
Once again reminding me how blessed I am ... for life and all that jazz..

Join me on Skywatch Friday and enjoy the sky from every corner of the world :)

Thank you :)

WW: Meet the Angels at Rockefeller Center

Meet the angels at the Rockefeller Center :)
This is truly one of the perks of NYC during winter and the holiday season ...

Wintery January

Welcome, January...

The very first day of the new 2016 and winter has surely arrived.

We don't do much today, except heading to the mosque for Friday prayer and stop for a while at Astoria Park. Obi et Bo really want to play in the park but it's just to cold. We only manage a brief walk before finally coming back to our car. 37 Degree F feels much colder with a strong wind today. And the sky is grey.

the bridge....

looks like thin hands :)

It all settles then... Movie marathon with bowls of hot meat balls soup will be our little family party in this beginning of 2016.

Join me, sky lovers... And enjoy the sky from different part of the world with

Thank you :)

WW: Winter Palace in Saks Fifth Avenue

This is another perk of the holiday season.
Lavishly decorated windows on the famous department stores here in NYC.
Like the Winter Palace in Saks Fifth Avenue.

I love to see those details.
What do you think?

window shopping has never been fun :)

look at her..She looks fabulous..and the cake behind her :)

here are some more details from the display..

The long winter

No, this is not the review of Laura Ingalls Wilder ' s book titled the same..
The long winter...
But it feels like one..
Well, again...at least for me..

It's March and winter loves to stick around..
But I'm happy today the sun is brightly shining...
Clear blue sky, super fresh and crispy air...
Alhamdulillaaah...

This morning, the temperature dropped again to minus 11 degree Celcious...
Enough to freeze my hands, ears and nose :)
And Obi got sick...
Oh my..
It might be the virus or it might be the cold...
So she will have to stay at home today :(

get well soon, love...
Meanwhile, Abang Bo is, as always, more than happy to play outside with the snow and go to school cheerfully this morning..

It was a bit tricky to walk down the pathways due to the ice...
And we walked very slowly just to make sure we didn't slip...

In front of the school this morning...

But I know winter will be over soon..
Right?
Pretty soon I hope..

Join us on Skywatch Friday and be blessed for beautiful sky above our head :)

Dear March...

Hi, March...

Good to see you again...
How I miss you and I know you will come with my dearest friend, Spring..

But I heard she got stuck somewhere..
Or maybe she just like to play hide-and-seek with me...
You know...just to tease me...

As she knows for sure I kinda have a thing for cold and snow...
Like embracing them every waking day and kissing them goodnight ...

I know winter will always be eerily beautiful...
With its captivating charm and biting sweetness...

But I miss my colorful world...

And I really need to have a relaxing morning without having some extra exercise every time we need to go out...

So March, please tell Spring..
that we miss her dearly...

March, 2015

Flushing Meadows in Winter

Well, long weekend is here and we didn't plan to go traveling around thanks to the weather! We have been browsing around and the surrounding states are freezing as well. So, we're just sticking around the city.

Instead, we went to enjoy the snowy day at Flushing Meadows, before hitting the Queens Museum, which I will write in another post :).

Winter at Flushing Meadows

Remember this place?
I wrote about it once, about missing the aliens at Flushing Meadows :)
And of course, the unisphere will catch our attention instantly.
How I love to see the snow around it..
And it was minus 8 degree Celcius at that time...
But Bo et Obi seem to have no problem at all with the biting cold :)

Even the kids were jumping around :)...

enjoying the snow...

Well, since we have no better choice but embracing and enjoying the snow,  we then just enjoy the cold and winter...

the unisphere...

Enjoy the snow, people...and stay warm :)

cheers from the 3 of us...
