Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends

What a month we have here!

December is special for my family as we celebrate 3 birthdays and an anniversary. So pretty much a celebration for everyone in the Frakarsas! As always, we have three celebrations done, no matter how we planned to have one altogether. 

Well, for Nadine’s, we were watching Guns n Roses concert at Sky Stadium Wellington. For Udi’s and our anniversary, we had a nice dinner outside and for Bo’s, which will come soon,  we’ll go out to the beach. Sound like a plan, rite! 

We have been craving to strolling around the country again now that the kids will soon have their summer break. The North island of Aotearoa is vast and we haven't explored many parts of it. Looks like we might use our end-of-the-year break to do so. So many places to visit, so little time!

From the office, I still have delegation coming from Jakarta. More meetings are in the pipeline, right until 23rd of December, which marks the last working day for our counterparts in New Zealand. As for us, since Christmas will be celebrated on Sunday, we will have days off for two days on December 26 and 27. So far we have some plans but don’t know whether we will work it out or not. Frankly, sometimes I just want to stay at home and rest LOL. But hey, we only live once so whenever we have great opportunity to travel around, let's seize that!

WW: Guns n’ Roses Concert in Wellington

You know where you are..

You’re in the jungle, baby…

Perhaps you are familiar with that lyrics from a famous hit song. If you are, then you know who the band is. Yes, G n' R or Guns and Roses. 

When I was way younger, perhaps in junior and senior high schools, I grew up listening to their hits. I did have many of their albums, still in the forms of cassettes, which need cassettes players in order to listen the songs. I guess many of the millennials have no clues what the cassette is or how the cassette player looks like. 

But anyway, this is one of my favorite rock bands of all time (besides Aerosmith and Bon Jovi and more, actually).  Although we had watched their concerts while in Geneva back in 2010 if I’m not mistaken,  we jumped at the first opportunity to get the tickets for G n’ Roses concert in Wellington.

Originally we bought only 2 tickets for me and my hubby, but then at the last minute, my friends who were supposed to join us couldn’t make so we bought their tickets and went all together with our teens. 

We made sure they listened to some of those hits begire coming to the concert LOL. The band is obviously not on their radar but some of the legendary hits are easily found in many movies, games or Spotify.

Long story short, we really enjoyed the concert. It was my girl’s 12th birthday as well so we had mini celebration with sushi, fries and cold drinks, plus sing-a-long till almost midnight.

Welcome to Queenstown, New Zealand

Kia ora!

Hope everyone is happy and healthy wherever you are.

I have just visited one of the jewels of New Zealand, one of the most wanted (if not the most famous) destinations in Aotearoa. Can you guess? Yes, Queenstown it is!

Listed as one of the most beautiful cities in New Zealand and dubbed as the adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown is beautifully surrounded by mountains, lakes, rivers, valleys and more jaw - dropping landscapes. With this blessed nature, Queenstown has been famous as the 'adrenaline hub' in the South Island. Well, from walking and hiking to the top of the South Alps, going down hills in snowy slopes, taking the funicular up and sliding down the luge, to mountain biking, paragliding and more, you get them all here.

Well, I visited this lovely city only for three days and its's a business trip as well. I only limit myself to enjoy the beauty of Lake Wakatipu, Arrow town and the city.

So here it is... me welcoming myself to Queenstown, New Zealand.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends

 Welcome back and December is here!

I know time really flies and last week of November 2022 marks our 1-year anniversary of staying in Aotearoa! Yaaay!

It has been a very colorful year and we, the Frakarsas, have indeed so much to be grateful for. In the course of 1 year, we have moved to 2 houses (yes, I know.. we didn't think it will be this way but reality shows otherwise), traveled to 10 cities ( I guess more) in New Zealand, and enjoy living surrounded by the amazing landscapes as well as outdoor activities. This year, I was lucky enough to visit the Cook Islands and Rarotonga are added to my new list of countries and cities visited. Super happy for sure. I hope 2023 will be even more awesome and I already have a lot of plans in mind. 

We are planning to start the year with a little road trip in the South Island. Hopefully we can fly from Wellington to Christchurch and from there, heading down south from there. We have Canterbury, Franz Joseph glacier, Lake Tekapo, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Otago, Dunedin, and Invercargill. Okay, that sounds so ambitious for sure with only 12 days but even writing it gets me super excited. Wish us heaps of luck and tons of health so we can realize all these plans.

I got a little taste of the South Island beauty as I visited Queenstown for about 3 days. I will share more but for sure, you, too, can see some shots from Queenstown and tell me what you think about it.
