WW: Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day

To all those great fathers out there!

And especially for my hubby and  my late Papah,  the most wonderful fathers
we can ever hope for.

Their senses of humor, warm hugs, unconditional love and continued strength
have supported our family...always.
And here's what my kids prepared for their beloved daddy, Bapak Rudi :)

Tons of love!

15 Fun Ways to Celebrate Summer with Kids

Are you ready for summer?
I bet you are!

As June steps in and school will soon be over, I guess everyone is excited to welcome summer break. Particularly the kids. And the parents as well.

So, what are your kids doing this Summer?
For many of us,  summer time with the kids is a time to enjoy the outdoors, the sunshine and if you're lucky the ocean.

My family loves that!

As much as kids love Summer holidays, keeping them busy can be a real chore!
If you've not got the luxury of a Summer camp then it's up to you as parent to find things for the youngsters to keep busy with.

Failing that, your kids might spend all their time in front of a computer, tablet, phone or other screen and research has shown that spending too much time in front of a screen can have a detrimental effect on the health and wellbeing of children.

Studies have shown that taking part in nature-based activities helps people who are suffering from mental ill-health and can contribute to a reduction in levels of anxiety, stress, and depression. In fact, a daily walk in nature has showed decreased activity in a region of the brain associated with a key factor in depression.

One in four people are estimated to experience bouts of mental ill health and it's on the rise. Prescription medication of antidepressants are also at a record high level and the demand for more invasive treatments are also on the rise. Health and social care commissioners are examining and commissioning different options for cost effective services for mental health and one of these options is a daily walk of 90 minutes or more. We need to learn from the past when kids got excited to spend their time climbing trees and building dens rather than spending hours inside.

Joe at Nature Rated understands this all too well and has put together an infographic on 15 Summer activities to help your kids appreciate nature.

This is what it looks like and enjoy...

15 Summer activities to help your kids appreciate nature

From baking a blackberry pie to constructing a pond or insect hotel, there's plenty for the youngsters to get up to. Head on over to his site for step by step instructions to get your kids out and about enjoying nature.

Hope that works!
Happy summer, everyone..

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

To all wonderful mothers and mothers-to-be out there.
We have been working hard since day one so I guess we all deserve to have a little break to celebrate this warm, wonderful feeling of being a mom or thanking your mom for everything she has done to us.

I know this is a bit late but I still feel like sharing what my kids have given me in this very special ocassion.

For me, mother's day this year is a bit tricky.
I had to travel to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for work.
7.30 AM flight with lay over, surely it was tiring.
But, what bothered me most was that because I had to leave New York City right on mother's day.

Surely Bo et Obi protested but I couldn't do much as the trip has been arranged by the UN.

Nevertheless, we managed to have a pre-celebration of Mother's day and here's what my kids gave me :)

Can't wait to see it blooms

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day :)

Wonderful Wednesday with Oh My Heartsie Girls

Can you imagine that February is slipping away?
I know, right. It only feels like yesterday as we started the new year and 2 months are almost gone!

the Bridal Collection Launching with Wardah Cosmetics

So, here's a little wrap up of my week :).

After Anniesa Hasibuan's show at NYFWFall/Winter 2017, she launched a bridal collection as well together with two other Indonesian designers, Mety Choa and Mira Indria. It took place at the Indonesia Fashion Gallery in Midtown Manhattan. You should come and check out its fabulous collections from various Indonesian designers! Plus, we have make-up demonstration from Wardah team, led by my dearest Carolina Septerita, one of the top make-up aryists back home. Ah those flawless make-up I love!

The launching of the Bridal Collection

Then the following day, Anniesa also joined 2 other panelists for the International Fashion and Culture Networking Conference at the Fashion Institute and Technology, NYC. Another cool gig that gave Anniesa the chances to convey more beautiful message she had with her works, passion and talents!

We had Raquel Smith, one of Beyonce's stylist, and Meg Flather from Tatcha Cosmetics, with Verky Arcoa from Latina Magazine. I once again helped Anniesa with her translation and it was a lovely almost-3-hours event :)

But the perk of my week is my son, Bo, being the Student of the Month in his class! So proud indeed!
I just wanted to make sure that my kids enjoy their lovely adventures at school and this is like a lovely bonus :).
Merci ya Rabb..
