Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Welcoming February on colors!

February is soon coming and we certainly have a lot on our plates, when it comes to works.

Welcome to T2 Wellington

But before heading to that subject, I just have to tell you that I have been falling in love with T2, one of the tea shops in New Zealand. Besides the fact that it provides incredible teas from around the world, including from Indonesia, this place has an awesome collection of tea wares and I am talking about those cute cups, tea pots, tea for one or two, mugs, mug with infuser, tea spoon, tumblers and more. I guess I will definitely have a dedicated post for that!. So far, I managed to snatch 2 sets of cups and tea pot for one, all in purple hues. Good thing it comes in sales! God know when I will visit that place again. More likely soon LOL.

Aren't they all cute!

The new Ambassador, H.E. Madame Fientje Maritje Suebu, will be officially submitting her Letter of Credence to the Governor-General and the Commander-in-Chief on New Zealand soon. We are super excited to welcome the new Ambassador, especially since the previous Ambassador, H.E. Tantowi Yahya has left Aotearoa on the last week of December 202. We are also so proud that Ambassador Suebu is the first female Ambassador originating from Papua province and she is such a seasoned diplomat who has been stationed in many parts of the world.

On the personal side, both our kids have been admitted to the school we have been aiming. Bo will go to Wellington College and Obi will be in the normal school near the office. Again, we are super excited as well and now we are making sure that the kids will get their school supplies, including uniforms for Bo and all the complete set of it. Good thing we have everything just a click away and the school supplies have been listed according to the kids' level. Very convenient indeed.

Anyway, we had so much fun last weekend. As we celebrated the Wellington Anniversary day on January 24th, Monday is off here in New Zealand and we went outdoorsy on Saturday and Monday. We walked again at Rimutaka Crossing and headed to Lavender Abbey in Casterton, where we had our late lunch picnic under the trees. Then we stopped by at Kaitoke Regional Park to cool down at the Pakuratahi river where the kids dipped in the cool water for a while before heading home. Then after one full Sunday off, we hiked in Sky view Walk near our house for almost 2 hours and we really enjoyed it. Super tiring for sure but the day was just beautiful and we kind of got lost in the woods. Quite an experience with the kids!

WW : Skyline Walkway at Karori, Wellington

Another weekend is coming and we are so ready to go outside again!

This time, we did not go far as in the back of our house, we have Skyline Walkway. It’s the walkway that goes through some parks and areas in Karori, the place where we live now.

welcome to Skyline Walkway

So we decided to stroll around the hills, with its ups and downs, then headed to the bushes and the forest. The path can take us to Karori and Makara Park or to Mount Kaukau in Johnson Hill.

The weather was nice and not too hot. That's what made us got carried away. What was planned to be a 30-minute walk turned out to be a 2-full-hour trekking around the path, the bushes and the forest near our home. Super exciting.

Along the way, we saw some people riding their mountain bikes and enjoyed the dirt downhill tracks. It was awesome to see them riding those wheels! And scary as well LOL. But my hubby can not wait to try once our bikes arrived in Wellington.

going up and down along the walkway

As we continue our walk, we finally arrived in Karori Park and took the Uber to go home. Well, we were super tired already and the idea of walking up the hills again to reach home is just way too much for amateur walkers like us.

Here are some more photos I took along the way.

So what do you think? Very enjoyable indeed right. I guess we will be more than happy to try other pathway around the area as apparently we have tons of them here.

Wishing you all healthy and beautiful days ahead.

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and have fun with the link party as well.

Enjoying summer in Rimutaka

Beautiful summer we have here in Wellington!

Many hot, summery days are coming and sometimes it's even too hot and humid. Not that I am complaining but since we are indeed closer to nature and reduce the use of non-essential electronics, I have no air-con in my room and we pretty much depend on the breeze in hot, summer days.

One foggy morning in my house

But make no mistakes, foggy mornings are still coming but then in the middle of the day, the sun is greeting us all excitedly. That is why we always have to wear (or bring) layers whenever we go. This reminds me of my uni days in Melbourne, Australia. They said the city can have 4 seasons in a day. In Wellington, it will be 5 seasons: summer, fall, winter, spring and windy.

I have applied for the kids' schools in the area and hopefully we will have the confirmation soon. Obi will be on the 7th grade and Bo will be enjoying 11th grade. The classes start in February 2022 and we obviously have different system from Indonesia. To start with, the new term of the classes starts in July/August. So then, Obi, who left the 6th grade in the middle of the way, will not have to repeat 6th grade again and will skip to the 7th grade. Meanwhile, Bo hopes he can start at the 11th grade as 12th grade is packed with tests and assessments. I think it's fair enough to get some adjustments before jumping to all the final stages of his school terms.

Anyway, we will soon enjoy some long weekends. I sincerely hope we can actually go out there to see more of the beauty of New Zealand. Meanwhile, we are still restricting our moves as Omicron threat is just around the corner. I know that we all still have to be extremely vigilant so please please please, stay safe and healthy, everyone.

Now, join me on Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends.

WW: Rimutaka Crossing Outlook, Wairarapa, New Zealand

Ready to explore Wellington more with us?

We spent one lovely weekend to stop by at Rimutaka Crossing, Wairarapa, New Zealand

Summer is on and we really are so excited to see more of this country. Rimutaka Crossing is a historical spot where the march of New Zealand Expenditionary Force infantry took place in 1915 - 1918, during the First World War. The military training camp was located in the nearby town called Featherston. Some place we can explore further as well.

As it is situated in the hilly parts of the area, it has amazing view as well.

It took us around one hour drive to reach this place from our home in Karori and since the day was nice and bright, we had a great walk. Once we arrived here, We parked our car and strolled around the area. We walked up along the path and we could tell that the paths have different routes and levels, some are long and quite strenuous. We took the short one and just had a brief climb to get a better view.

I love to see all these flowers

The path is not that difficult, so you can still walk around with the kids, although you are of course welcome to walk further across the hills. The path we took was not too steep but best to wear your comfortable shoes and the proper clothes that would be fit for the weather. We were lucky it was not that windy when we were out there.

I really enjoy the clean air, blue sky, beautiful flowers and some native plants we saw during our walk. The plants remind me of those in the dry or dessert areas. If we were lucky, we could meet a wallaby, a marsupial which is normally seen in the area.

We definitely take a some pictures as you see above and I wish I brought my action camera to get more footage and photos.

But we can always come back here next time, as it's located in the famous SH 2 highway taking us to various towns and spots in the area, including Greytown, Martinborough, Casterton and more. My husband and I have put quite a long list of places we plan to explore in North Island, including the one in Wairarapa region, where all these towns are mostly located.

Some flowers are so pretty

I sincerely hope all is well and the pandemic is way more manageable in the future. Meanwhile, stay safe, happy and healthy, wherever you are.
