WW: The Beauty of Indonesia

Sunset captured from Bukit Randu Hotel, Lampung
sunset at Bandar Lampung, Indonesia

I know that August is almost coming to an end and I still want to celebrate this glorious month where we all celebrate Indonesia's Independence Day.

It has been my intention since I was young to go around Indonesia and witness its magnificent beauty from different provinces.

Flying Garuda Indonesia to Ambon, Maluku
on my way to Ambon, Maluku

So many to enjoy indeed, starting from its amazing landscape and natural wonders, incredible food and beverages deriving from its abundant and indigenous sources, wonderful handy crafts and art works, heart-warming and friendly people, intricate designs and vividly colorful fabrics, and astonishing cultures. And that's not all as you will have lovely surprises as you travel around the country.

I know that the pandemic has restricted us from traveling around and exploring its divine beauty, but I take the liberty to take 'virtual tour' through my blog, external hard drives, social media platforms and more.

One fine evening at Puncak Mas, Lampung

It has been quite entertaining and is considered satisfactory until we can actually go out again and travel without fear. How I long for that time.

Morning view of mountains across Jogjakarta and Central Java I saw on my first flight from Jogjakarta - Jakarta

Here are some photos I took along the way and some of them might have been published here, while others are not.

The beauty of wayang and wooden craft, Solo, Central Java

I just realized that I was lucky enough to explore some parts of the country and I really hope I can travel more at later stage. Indonesia is huge and beautiful and for that, it will take sometimes to actually explore most part of it.

wonderful sunset at Ambon Bay, Ambon, Maluku

My hubby and I, together with the kids, simply can't wait to plan and do the road trip again. Well, We did have the plan before but it all shattered thanks to COVID-19.

So now, let's enjoy the beauty of Indonesia.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Hi everyone...

Hope all is well! We have been seeing more progress in terms of COVID-19 and the distribution of the vaccine and I am so glad to know that Jakarta, the city where we live now, is showing better statistics of the infected community and mortality rates. I never stop praying that the pandemic will soon be over and we all can live with less fear and more 'normal', although perhaps not as we all know before the pandemic.

I can't wait to travel around Indonesia again, especially noting that we will be assigned in another country soon and we be away for about 4 years, more or less. At this point, we still have the restrictions for no-essential travelings and of course it will be the best. Gradually, some restrictions are reduced depending on the progress on particular areas in the country. I hope people will still be discipline enough and. continue to observe the health protocol although we have more and more people getting the vaccination. I really hope that the vaccine for 12 years old and under will soon be available. It will be for my daughter.

By the way, the school start resuming physical meetings with strict health protocol. The students will be coming to school once a week and for the longest time of 3 hours in the class. Parents are welcomed to approve this or not. Those who choose to stay at home will still have the virtual meetings at home. Fingers crossed everything goes well for this arrangement.

We might let our kids go back to school with strict health protocol. Bo has had his 2 vaccines but Obi is under 12, so we are a bit worried about it. Do your kids go back to school already? Will you share your experience on this?

On the other sides, packing continues and we are progressing with more boxes and items to sort out. Many have been donated, especially the books and clothes. I know we still have tons of them to work on but I am super happy that we are progressing. Wish us luck, as always!

WW: Strolling around during the Independence Day Holiday

Happy 76th Anniversary Indonesia
Happy 76th Anniversary, Indonesia

August 17th is the Indonesia's Independence Day.

Merdeka!

Since we are still in the pandemic and have some strict movement arrangement, we cannot go places or even go back home to Lampung. Before the new normal, we have so many activities conducted during the celebration of Independence Day. Traditional games such as panjat pinang, lomba bakiak, balap karung and more. How I miss fun fares and more entertainment for public, wherever we are. But of course, during the pandemic, we are shifting to the virtual or hybrid mode. This year has been the second year we are celebrating it this way.

Anyway, as we have the holiday on this particular day, we decided to stroll around during the Independence Day Holiday. I rode the motorcycle with my hubby in the morning to hunt for Indonesian food, especially those famous for breakfast. We went out at 7 AM, as 10 AM we would follow the national flag hoisting ceremony in Presidential Palace virtually.

We bought bubur ayam or chicken porridge and ketoprak, or a melange of rice cake, peanut sauce, bean sprout, fried tofu and kerupuk.

We then stopped to to buy kue pancong and kue ape, Indonesian traditional cakes made of rice flour, grated coconut, and sugar, plus pandan for kue ape.  We certainly decided to have a little party at home! After we got everything, we just went back home.

Once we were at home, we just relaxed and enjoyed the flag hoisting ceremony from YouTube. I decided to rest as I do need to bounce back after a back-to-back COVID-19 strikes. I guess I deserve it.  But before that, I took some photos of merah putih, the red-and-white flag, that we had at home and the surroundings.

Well, again, happy birthday, INDONESIA!
Love you so much and stay fabulous!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Hi, everyone.

Hope all is well and you all are healthy!

My days went blurry as I entered the phase where packing has started and how messy the house is now LOL. This is like a little 'party' I have every 3 or 4 years whenever the new assignments are in the horizon. So, at some points, my life is marked with boxes and more boxes . Of course the more I have to do it, I got more tips and tricks to make this process less horrendous. But still, as much as I hate it, I have to admit that packing is fun in a way LOL.

Packing and packing and sorting and boxing..

The works at the office are still demanding as ever.

As September is approaching, we are focusing on the preparation of UN General Assembly meetings coming soon in September 2021. I know this is not the first time for us to conduct these series of high level meetings during the pandemic. Las year, for the first time, President Joko Widodo joined UNGA High Level Week and sent pre-recorded message. This time we might do the same, although there might be some adjustments to the team and the works. Well, the theme of the discussion will still center of the issues of COVID-19 and how we can best address all the adverse challenges coming. We will also focus on the latest dynamics in the world peace, as new conflicts Wish us luck for the preparation.

And now, I hope things will get better and better so that we can go out again with health protocol being observed. I can't wait to go out door again indeed!
