WW: Teaching Nadine the Joy of Cycling

 Hi everyone…

We have been enjoying some sunny winter days here in Wellington, which are a bit rare. This July we have seen so many stormy and freezing days, although there’s no snow in windy Welly.

So, while having the sunshine, we decided to go out and had a little hike in Skyview pathway near our house and taught Nadine, my girl, how to bike. 

Yes.. biking! Nadine hasn’t really get a chance to learn how to bike properly and my hubby thought that this would be the perfect time for her to learn it properly. We have two mountain bikes at home and soon we will have the fun bike as well as part of the celebration of our Independence Day.

Then off we went to have a little hike and enjoy the sunset while at the same time teach Nadine how to bike. She surely need to practise more and more. My son Bo has been helping a lot as well and they really had a lot of fun laughing each other 🥰

WW: Matariki Celebration 2022 in Wellington

 

Matariki Celebration 2022 in Wellington was truly a big and lively event.

Matariki, the new year of the Māori, is celebrating the beginning of the new year as well as remembering the past and celebrating the present. Matariki is the time for whanau or the family to gather. Family is very important for the Maori and essentially for all of us as well. It’s also the time to reflect as the ancestors have been providing us all with many important lessons in life. 

Matariki, or ‘tiny eyes’ or the ‘eyes of God’ in Maori, is also another name of Pleiades or the seven sisters. This amazing star constelation can be recognized in many parts of the world as well.

These are some of the photos I took during the celebration, which included the prayer session, light shows, expositions and fireworks!

Hi everyone...

Always happy to be back here and are you ready for our Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends? Great then!

This week I have been bombarded by so many functions, meetings and work.

It's great that I still have sometimes to join International Yoga Day 2022 celebrated at the Beehive, New Zealand Parliament, hosted together by the High Commission of India and some members of the NZ Parliament. 

It has been quite sometimes since I did my yoga but I was super thrilled to go back to the mat.

So peaceful...

Then we also have all the series of activities and celebration of Matariki, the New Year for the Māori. Here we celebrate the new yer while remembering the past, celebrating the present and of course looking for the future.

I will be more than happy to share more details on my next post. We also have fireworks, light shows, and so many more! This Matariki Celebration is the first time ever and I can say, everyone is super excited. So cool, Wellington!

WW: Enjoying Lunch at Beach House and Kiosk at Taputeranga, New Zealand

Welcome to Taputeranga Bay, New Zealand

Wellington has been a bit of a mixed lately in terms of weather.

It’s cold in general but we do have sunny days in this winter time. Most of the times, the temperature is between 14 - 8 deegres Celcius, with rain or strong wind.

One of the best ways of enjoying this heartwarming weather is by going out. So in one of those days, I went out enjoying lunch at the Beach House and Kiosk at Taputeranga, New Zealand.

The Beach House and Kiosk is located next to Dive Wellington and pretty much in front of the Taputeranga Bay. During the wonderful sunny day, we can see the Kaikoura mountain in the South island, with its snowy peak. Breathtaking indeed!

These are some photos I took around the cafe and its surroundings.

I really love the ambiance and the food is lovely as well. I have my egg benedict with smoked samon and it was delicious.

Wellington Sign

Another week is coming and Wellington is getting colder and colder indeed.

Well, while the other side of the world is enjoying spring and summer is soon coming, we kind of missing the fall and directly embrace the impact of winter. This will be the first winter for the Frakarsas in Aotearoa. We got our winter gear from NYC and since Wellington is super windy, we got extra layers and more wind breaker for sure.

Surprisingly, we have been cycling around Wellington in this crazy weather. Well, it's cold and windy and most of the time raining, but that does not dampen our spirit to cycle around and get some exercise while at the same time enjoying the view and the weather.

Together with some friends from the office, the group called Gowes Wellington, has been gathering whenever we can. The last 2 weeks we have been cycling for three times. We usually park our cars either in Evans Bay or the Balanea Bay then cycle to the bays, the Wellington Blown Away sign, Weta Cave and back.

Once we rode to Shelly Bay, heading to the airport and rounding up there. Along the bay, the view is amazing although at this point, the wind is already freezing. But again, we had so much fun and continued cycling. We stopped here and there for photos then continued with the ride. I used my hubby's bike and I like it. Hope then we can continue to cycle around Wellington.
