Visiting Makassar, South Sulawesi, will not be complete without trying its famous food. Besides Coto Makassar, Konro, Palu butung, and  Pisang Ijo,  Makassar is also famous for its wide variety of fresh seafood.

Complete menus on the table!

The last time I visited Makassar, it was for a long transit so I didn't really get a chance to enjoy this wonderful city. Yet, when I came back here last May, I only had 3 short days as it was already packed with meetings. But then again, I was lucky that we had the chance to enjoy whatever we can enjoy in our super tight schedule.

Chili crabs, anyone?

I managed to try Coto Makassar twice, in 2 restaurants which are famous for this hot, beef soup packed with wonderful spices. But what strikes me most os our dinner at Bahari Restaurant, where we enjoyed a wide variety of seafood menus at its best!

All the sambals or chili sauce you need for the seafood

Let's take a look at these photos. As you can see, there are so many amazing food... starting from grilled Baronang fish to tamarind-marinated squids (it is very good indeed surprisingly), to chilly crabs and grouper fish spicy soup.

Grilled Baronang... fresh, with a hint of lemon drops!

Not to mention otak - otak or steamed/grilled fish cake (one of my fave!) and more!

Those are some of the seafood I managed to try and I know I will be back with Coto Makassar as well. So, how do you like them? Tasty, right!

After quite some times, I visited one of the new  additions of artistic corner in Central Jakarta, Kendal Tunnel.

Have you been here?

I recently visited this very spot for a little photo session with a friend. This tunnel is unique as it used to be an active road, but it was then repurposed as mini skate park and artistic hub built near the MRT Station of Dukuh Atas. After all those times, I just managed to visit it!

It was really fun to see the development in this area. As the MRT route was inaugurated in March 2019 by the Indonesian President, Pak Joko Widodo, the areas near the stations have been beautifully developed. Kendal Tunnel is one of them, dedicated as an artistic pedestrian spot which has been elaborated with murals.

One part of the tunnel is adorned with animal - themed mural, particularly wolves and wild dogs in the artistic forms, with bold colors and shades.

On the other side of the tunnel, rows of 2 murals are depicting the life in Jakarta nowadays. You will see the MRT, the sky scrappers, Trans Jakarta or the Bus Rapid System in Jakarta, as well as  others.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

June is here and I keep saying to myself how time flies even though we don't (always) have fun!

I am still in the final phase of my National Leadership Training program and as you can guess, here comes to the most stressful time of the training, finishing up my final project, finalizing my reports and presenting them to the panel. Well, I am quite sure about my project and have no worries presenting it, it's just the writing of the reports and showcasing all the evidence proved to be time consuming, amidst the never ending deadline I have from the office works. Well, by the time I am writing it, I am still working on the report. Good thing my presentation is done and after that, the video is waiting. Well, wish me luck!

Last week we had super sad news. We lost Ink, or lovely called Inky by me, our cute little mixed Persian kitten. My little furry girl already passed away when my son found her in the morning. We didn't know what really happened. I was in Makassar when I received this distressing call from Bo, telling my hubby was sick (it was like food poisoning apparently) and Inky died. I was so sad. Well all of us are sad, till now. We have taken extra measures to ensure Inky was well taken care of since day one. She was always the tiniest in the group and she got the last milk most of the time. That is why we gave her extra milk after consulting with our vet. Well, my darling little girl.. rest in peace and have fun biting all those sandals you can find in heaven. You are greatly missed, girl!

our dearest Inky.. rest in peace..

Other than that, I have been busy at the office. I can't wait to get a chance to coe back home to Lampung and meet our family there. Not to mention my diving alarm seems to be setting off all the time, reminding me that I have not been doing it for quite some times. I really hope I can go back and feel the sea breeze again. I am scheduled to go back to my training for a week and after that rows of meetings await. Perhaps Bandung and Bogor are in the pipeline. Well.. let's see how things go.

So now, let me welcome you to our weekly linky party, Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends.

Please stay safe, happy, and healthy wherever you are, dear friends.

WW: A Glimpse of Makassar, South Sulawesi

Pantai Losari, Makassar, South Sulawesi
A Glimpse of Makassar, South Sulawesi

I was traveling to Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi, some times ago.

It was a brief visit, only for 3 days, but I managed to have a glimpse of beautiful Makassar and enjoyed some lovely food and beverages as well as its amazingly colorful hand-woven tenun.

various colored of Lagossi embroideries

I stayed in the Rinra hotel, which is strategically located near Losari Beach, the iconic beach in this city.

The view from my balcony, the infinity pool at the Rinra

I love this hotel, truly a local pride and super comfy as well. Not to mention its very strategic location as well as the friendliness of the staff. I did enjoy the lovely sunrise, delicious breakfast and the landmarks in the surrounding areas.

Before I share more, let's take a look at what I have captured during my short visit to Makassar. I sincerely hope I can go back here soon to explore more of its breathtaking beauty.

Let's start with its amazing sunrise, which I conveniently enjoy from my balcony.

The hotel has mini chapel as well.

The food in Makassar is indeed delicious. I tasted the incredible Coto Makassar, the beef soup, as well as fresh seafood in various forms! Happy tummy and happy me!

grilled Baronang fish, grilled shrimps, grouper spicy soup, spicy crabs, and more

And here are the surrounding areas that I managed to enjoy while strolling around in the morning, walking from the hotel. I stopped at Losari Beach and the Bugis pavilion.

Tenun sutra Makassar.. the hand woven silk saroong from Makassar. So lovely!

So, that's a glimpse of Makassar, South Sulawesi. I hope you like to see the photos and tell me what you like the most.
