WW: Diving Trip to Tegal Island, Lampung

Cheers from our friends underwater
I am going to join the official attempt of breaking the Guinness World Records, having 3000 divers at the same time as well as making the longest human chain under water spreading the flags.

3000 divers!
At the same time!
I am beyond excited!

I will join them..yaaay!

It will be held from August 1 - 4th, 2019 at Manado Beach, Megamas complex, Manado, North Manado, Indonesia. The event is held by WASI, Wanita Selam Indonesia, or Indonesian Female Divers, together with many supporters, including one of our national banks, oil company, and more. This event is also part of the 74th Anniversary of Indonesia's independence celebration

As part of the preparation of this huge event, I joined a diving trip in Lampung recently.
It was one great trip as we saw huge puffer fish and manta or stingray. Watch my YouTube video to see more.

It was only the 6 of us but it was two great dives.
We took off exactly at 8 AM in the morning from Puri Gading Beach port and we headed to 2 diving spots, white stone and two corners.

On the first dive, we directly saw puffer fish, giant clamp, and many clown fish or famously known as Nemo. While on the second dive, we were welcomed by even bigger puffer fish and the giant manta. I was a bit surprised when I saw the manta I was literally shout with my regulator on my mouth LOL. My Dive Master then heard me and saw the manta too. I managed to take pictures of it and record it as it flew around.
We have been looking for turtles and we had no luck.

The giant manta..
So, all in all, it was a great warming - up trip before our big event in Manado.
I went to Manado twice already for diving and snorkeling and I have to say Manado's under water landscape is incredible.
Wait for more posts about the event of the Official Attempt here in my blog yaaa.

Meanwhile, have a great week wherever you are!

Let's go snorkeling

What a week we had!

After the Election Day, we had some days off for Easter Break!
So off we went to Lampung, again, to enjoy its endless beauty and for sure to meet our family.

tegal mas island
Welcome to Tegal Mas

This time, we went to Sari Ringgung beach and headed straight to its snorkelling spot, Ringgung and Tegal Mas, around 2o minutes ride by boat. My kids were super excited and we went there with my sister and brother-in-law as well as their kids and my niece.

My son Bo enjoying snorkelling at Tegal Mas island
We had 2 snorkelling sessions and enjoyed our yummy lunch at Tegal Perak, an isolated beach behind Tegal Mas Island. We took tons of picture, went free diving and had ton of fun for sure.
Will certainly share more photos and videos from our fun time here and I sincerely hope you can visit this lovely place as well!

Bo and his cousin, Abin.

We certainly had so much fun

Happy World Oceans Day

Happy World Oceans Day!

Have we done enough
to protect our beautiful ocean?

I was so lucky I got a chance to join the UN Ocean Conference, as part of the UN support to the full implementation of Goal 14 of the Sustainable Development Agenda or Agenda 2030, conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

Leonardo Di Caprio, the UN Messanger of Peace

We had many public figures, scientists, world-know photographers, CEOs, local communities and youth joining the event, including Leonardo di Caprio, the UN Messenger of Peace, Diego Luna, Sir Richard Branson, and 3 great Indonesians speaking at the UN.
Besides, this high level event was also packed with Head of States and Governments and well as ministers related to the preservation of oceans and environment.

Here's some messages given by Leonardo, regarding the challenges we all face now .

The ocean is indeed our home, our future!

And we have no better choice but to keep and preserve the oceans we love, the oceans in which our children will be the next stewards.

For me personally, the oceans will always be my refuge, offering the unconditional peace and boundless love where I am endlessly grateful for ever single thing our Creator bestowed upon me.

Down there, there's a beyond-words beauty we all have to protect.

To preserve.
To love!

But our oceans have been heavily polluted by our greed, our selfish actions, our constant ignorance.
Marine debris, acidification, over fishing, pollution, raising sea level are only a tiny portion of the horrible consequences of what we have done to the oceans.
Us!
Human.

This has to stop!
And we can and we have do that together.
Now!

Please, ask ourself what we can do to help protecting our oceans, our environment.
A simple gesture of reducing plastic use, stop littering our ocean, to raising awareness about the need to preserve our planet will certainly help.

Happy World Oceans Day!
