One of the famous statues that becomes sort of the chosen, favourite one of this windy city, is Solace in the wind.
This statue of a naked man, artistically made, overlooking the Wellington Harbour certainly attracts people’s attention as it strikes this particular pose and show a vivid emotion of longing. In my interpretation, I can somehow feel his agony, like he’s planning to dive to the water and swim further, leaving this beautiful land of Aotearoa.
what do you have in mind, Solace? |
The creator of this statue, Max Patte , was planning to leave New Zealand when he created this piece. Selected as the People's Choice Award for the favourite sculpture in the city, Solace in the wind truly deserves it. Wellington Harbour amazing view certainly boost the ambience in which this sculpture is installed.
I keep coming to this very spot as it is strategically located near Te Pa Pa Museum and the colorful Wellington sign. Many tourists have certainly flocked in this area as well.
Well, I will come back and share more stories about Wellington, the coolest little capital in the world, including its amazing art.
