WW: The Vessel, Unique Architecture in Hudson Yards, New York City

Have you seen or read about The Vessel, unique architecture in Hudson Yard, New York City ?

Although we are still in the middle of the pandemic and we cannot travel freely as we used to, we can still visit those places virtually. For me, one of the best ways to beat my craving for traveling is looking into my external hard disk and publishing it.

And here's what I have.

THE VESSEL

The Vessel at Hudson Yards, New York City

The Vessel is one of the recent addition to the Hudson Yards Redevelopment project. Well, the unique, one-of-a-kind design which is inspired by honey comb started to be built in April 2017 and finished in March 2019.  I read that it costs approximately USD 200 million. Quite a fantastic amount of budget!

The Vessel at Hudson Yards, New York City

When I left NYC in August 2018, this building was not there yet. Then I was lucky to go back again in May 2019 and there it was, standing tall and grand, so whimsical that it certainly becomes the landmark in the Hudson Yards area.

It is very easy to reach this place. I only took line 7 of the subway and rode until the end of the line heading to Hudson Yards. Once you get out of the station, you will see the building on your right and you can also follow the sign.

It was very windy when I visited this place. You can see me frantically hold on to my fedora when I took the selfie LOL.

Here are some of the photos I took around the area.

You can get the ticket to go up taking the elevator or walking up the platforms. They have the quota per day so make sure you get here early. I was late and didn't get a chance to go up.

I have the video as well about my visit to the Vessel and it is uploaded to my You Tube account. Please take a look.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

President of Indonesia, H.E. Joko Widodo, addressed the UN General Assembly

It has been a busy week for me and my family.

Work wise, I have been attending meetings here and there, even from several hotel premises. The office is closed due to the pandemic but our deadline continues and pressing.

As you now, as September kicks in, the 'storm' at the UN is coming in the form of UN General Assembly. The High Level Week to be precise. Nevertheless, this year is special because of two things. First, Our President, Joko Widodo, attended the meeting and delivered the national statement through a pre-recording message. Second, the event is conducted in a hybrid way, half online and half offline.  So we have a combination of pre-recorded messages, on-site meetings with limited attendance and many virtual meetings. Never ever the UN has such an arrangement in its 75-year existence. Oh..and the UN is celebrating its 75 year anniversary. We will definitely have a lot of commemoration and discussion about what the UN can do more in the future. The future we want, the UN we need.

President of Indonesia, H.E. Joko Widodo, addressed the UN General Assembly

Btw, the delegation from outside of New York City is obliged to follow 2-week quarantine arrangement, no matter what ranks are you. It means, even the head of government/state and ministers have to go through the same procedures. Moreover, one state can only be represented by 2 person inside the UN headquarters. So unlike previous years, we stay in Jakarta and work from home. Again, working from home does not mean we have less works. It is actually the opposite. Well, we can do it! We certainly can!

Now, it's party time! Ready to join our Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and friends? Hop in!

WW: Culinary Adventures in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia

Culinary adventures in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia

Welcome back...

Let's continue our adventure. This time, I would like to kindly invite you to join me in my Culinary Adventures in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia

As I have shared previously (READ:  Kanoman Palace, Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia dan Sunyaragi Cave, Cirebon, West Java) , Cirebon is indeed a special place for me and my family as my late grandpa from my late father was originally coming from Cirebon. While we are here in Indonesia, we take some times to visit this city again and again as we still have many relatives to meet plus lovely attractions that I would like to introduce to my kids as well. That includes the culinary experience here.

Cirebon has ben well known for its delicious cuisine. Empal gentong, empal asem, tahu gejrot and nasi lengko are only few examples of this culinary heaven.  Not to mention the munchies, like ketan gurih, rengginang rebon and emping manis. The list can go on and on.

Empal gentong is the traditional beef stew from Cirebon, cooked with coconut milk and a mixture of Idonesian spices such as kemiri or bitter nut, sereh or lemon grass, laos/lengkuas or galangal, and daun salam or bay leaves. While empal asem is similar, but it is cooked withouth coconut milk. Instead, it uses tamarind water and belimbing wuluh, a special starfruit with has unique sour taste.  Both stew are served with fried onion and slices of fresh spring onion and celery. Tahu gejrot is a special mixture of fried tofu with a sauce made of garlic, chili, tamarind, palm sugar, and sweet soy sauce. My late dad loved tis so much and we cherish this special dish wholeheartedly. We sometimes cook it at home as well. Then nasi lengko is Cirebonese plate of rice with fried tofu and tempe, sprinkled with generous fresh cut cucumber, steamed bean sprout, fried onion, kucai  or chives, with spicy (or not) peanut sauce. Oh my, even as I write this, I am drooling and suddenly hungry.

I might need to write more details about more Cirebonese food at later stage but now, let's see some of those scrumptious palates. Tell me whether it brings out your appetite instantly.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

The sunrise over Jakarta's sky

Wednesday is here again and how are you, dear friends?

Our days amidst the pandemic continue and I have to say, although I don't like it a bit of it but we have adjusted ourselves to it. My kids have, too. Especially since they have to endure online classes for 5 days a week with some extra home works as well.

Work wise, I have been working with my team to prepare for the UN Human Rights Council and UN General Assembly. The new session has started for HRC and soon, the 75th session of the UNGA is opened. It's a crazy combo, I know, but we have done this for quite some times now. The agenda is certainly packed as always and being an active member of the UN, including the UN Human Rights Council and the Non Permanent member of the UN Security Council, we have a lot to contribute.  A lot of documents and statements are coming and I have been drafting since I don't know when hehehe.

Great thing is I have a strong team and we all now know what to expect. Although many sensitive issues will be brought up this session, I sincerely hope we are ready. Too bad I won't be traveling to Geneva or New York this time due to the pandemic.

The Frakarsas' cats

Btw, I have been documenting our cats in photos and videos and manage to have that ready for Youtube. Come check it out HERE and you also see them here in this post. Kiki, Plum and Cemong are indeed our dearest furry friends. Since we spend so much time at home, we spend more time with them as well and they can be very entertaining indeed.

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead and we will party again next week. And now,

We would also appreciate letting us know in comments you are following us so we can follow you back! All posts are welcome, Linky Parties & Giveaways are as well! We hope you will visit our hostess's features and leave comments as well!
