WW: The Bali Sensory Experience at Wellington Railway Station, New Zealand

 Hi everyone..

A couple of weeks a go, I joined the Bali Sensory Experience which was held at Wellington Railway Station, New Zealand. For the first time, this Balinese performance is conducted in the public sphere like the railway station in Wellington.

As you know, Bali, the island of Gods and Goddesses, has been suffering a lot from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that we are in better situation in controlling the pandemic, Bali as well as the rest of Indonesia is open for visitors. We are happy to welcome everyone to our beloved home.

So in order to ensure that, we are trying to promote Bali and Indonesia in general in various occasions, including like this one.

We had Gamelan Bali and some Balinese dances, including Tari Rejang Renteng. The performance is done by Mekar Bhuana group, a Wellington - based Balinese troupe led by Mba Putu Evie and her hubby, Vaughn, whom we dearly call Bli Pon. Both of them, together with their kids, Semara and Prana, have been promoting Balinese amazing cultures, particularly through gamelan and dances. Bli Pon lived in Bali for quite a long time indeed as well. The event was supported by NZIIA as well.

I joined the dance and I wore my favorite purple kebaya with Songket Bali accent that day. Together with Nadine, I also joined
Mekar Bhuana and has participated in one of the 8 classes that we will have.

Cheers and wait for more stories about our Gamelan exercises yaaa. Will be back with more fore sure and meanwhile, stay healthy everyone!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

 Welcome back!

How's your July so far?

Here in Wellington, we are still enjoying winter. Well, I don't know whether we are actually enjoying it because the climate is pretty much unfriendly. Yet, there are some beautiful days that we are enjoying with sunshine and less windy days. Nevertheless, July has been busy for us at the embassy as well as here in Wellington. The diplomatic life is pretty much vibrant as we have more 'freedom' to meet and gather and July August will be packed with celebration of national days. Fun times for sure but a lot of preparation from our side. But frankly, this is one of the perks being assigned at the Embassies or any Representative offices abroad! I got the chance to introduce the beauty of Indonesia to wider audience and I just love that! Btw, we have been having zumba and Indonesian dance exercises at the office.

Once a week for that and 3 times a week for my yoga time! Happy me indeed!

This week, we have one lovely celebration, The BALI Sensory Experience. There will be the performances of gamelan, Indonesian traditional musical instrument, Balinese dances and coffee tasting. It will be conducted in Wellington lovely Railway station, so it's surely historic. I can't wait to participate indeed!

WW: Batur Lake and Hulundanu Temple, Kintamani, Bali

Batur Lake and Hulundanu Temple, Kintamani, Bali

From my last visit to Bali in October 2021, I visited Batur Lake and Hulundanu Temple, located in Kintamani, Bangli, Bali. Together with some friends from Bali Local Guides, we chased the sunrise in Pinggan Village as you can read here : Enjoying Sunrise at Pinggan Village, Kintamani and then headed to Batur Lake, located not far from there.

Lake Batur is indeed huge and this volcanic crates lake is indeed famous for amazing views we can enjoy while exploring the area.

From here, you can get access to Trunyan, the unique cemetery where Trunyan villagers laid down under the trunyan tree without being buried underground. The unique thing is the bodies can decay until it gets white bones without causing unpleasant smell. I will share more stories about this place.

Here are some of the photos I took there. Enjoy!

Enjoying sunrise at Pinggan Village, Kintamani, Bali

Love watching sunrise?

That makes the two of us then!

On my last trip to Bali, I managed to visit Kintamani, one of the mountainous and hilly parts of Bali, and spent a night there. We chased the sunrise at one of the famous spots in Kintamani called Pohon Cinta or the tree of love, located near Desa Pinggan or Pinggan Village.

the view that morning

Here are some photos I took, together with some friends from Jakarta and Bali Local Guides. We took turn to take pictures one by one while enjoying the lovely sunrise and watching the village beautifully  engulfed by the mist.

I have to say I fell in love instantly and really hope I can go back here again. It is quite far from Nusa Dua, Bali, though. It took me around 4 hours drive to reach Kintamani. But for sure, it's worth it. And we woke up at 3.30, took the short drive to the spot, stopped for a while at the local mosque and continued the trip until we reached the place.

one misty morning

happy me :)

still misty morning indeed

When I saw that words right in front of Core Coffee Lab and Retail Bali, I knew I would get an enjoyable experience in this place.

I was privilege to meet Lou, the coffee master who is also the owner of this place and the winner of coffee competition she attended before. We really had a lovely chit - chat while discussing her wonderful coffee lab, the brewing process, the beans she acquired from different corners of the world and more. She certainly has a lot of tools, including Kalita, Chemex,

The place is super cozy as well. Bright light place with nice bench and lovely toilets. We can also get some healthy food and grains here, plus super delicious kaastengel or cheese cookies and nastar or the pineapple cookies.
