WW: Solace in the Wind Statue

Wellington is indeed filled with unique, aesthetic works of arts.

One of the famous statues that becomes sort of the chosen, favourite one of this windy city, is Solace in the wind

This statue of a naked man, artistically made,  overlooking the Wellington Harbour certainly attracts people’s attention as it strikes this particular pose and show a vivid emotion of longing. In my interpretation, I can somehow feel his agony, like he’s planning to dive to the water and swim further, leaving this beautiful land of Aotearoa.

what do you have in mind, Solace?

The creator of this statue, Max Patte , was planning to leave New Zealand when he created this piece. Selected as the People's Choice Award for the favourite sculpture in the city, Solace in the wind truly deserves it. Wellington Harbour amazing view certainly boost the ambience in which this sculpture is installed.

I keep coming to this very spot as it is strategically located near Te Pa Pa Museum and the colorful Wellington sign. Many tourists have certainly flocked in this area as well.

Well, I will come back and share more stories about Wellington, the coolest little capital in the world, including its amazing art.

Solace and I said hi...

  1. Mba Indah, patungnya mirip si Silver Surfer yang di Fantastic Four, filma lama itu. Tak salah dia menjadi patung favorit, karena impretasinya bisa sangat emosional.

  6. Patung Solace in the wind seperti sosok yang ingin berenang bebas menyeberangi lautan di depannya, tapi terkesan berat walau sudah melepaskan semua yang melekat di tubuhnya. Selamat bersenang2 sambil bekerja mba.

  16. Ini berarti hanya ada satu patung itu saja ya, Mbak, di sana? Nggak ada patung lainnya? Suatu penghargaan tersendiri, ya. Apalagi letaknya dekat museum. Bisa jadi magnet tersendiri bagi pengunjungnya.
