WW: Pink Ribbon Walk Wellington 2022

Hi everyone.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy, wherever you are.

I would like to share the Pink Ribbon Walk 2022  here in Wellington, that happened to take place on November 13th, 2022. You might be wondering why it is not conducted in October as I do have the same question. But looking at the schedule of the walk, it has been conducted in multiple cities and Wellington is scheduled to have it in November.

The walk started and finished in Frank Kitts Park, waterfront area. My son and I joined the 5 KM walk, together with ladies and friends from the Embassy. There is also a 10-KM choice for those who like to go that far.

For this walk, we bought the ticket which is part of the donation to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. For early birds, we can get the ticket for NZD 35 per person, while the normal one is NZD 45. I bought the family ticket, which cost NZD 115 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Unfortunately, my hubby was focusing on our moving while my daughter had a study group with her friends for their school project. That's why my son accompanied me and I have 2 other friends joining as well.

Here are some photos I took during the walk.

Welcome to Pink Ribbon Walk 2022

stay healthy, everyone et cheers!

It was really fun indeed and the fact that we are doing it for the noble cause. This is my first time joining the breast cancer walk, after joining Making Strides against Breast Cancer in NYC for 6 times. I was so overwhelmed by the support of those joining the walk. Around 800 people joining the walk, wrapped in many cute pink items. I sincerely hope it will bring benefits to those affected by breast cancers, be it the patients, family and anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. And to all my Pink Squad, kudos to you all, ladies!

Cheers from Wellington!

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and have fun with the link party!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends

foggy morning in our Karori house

Morena, friends. Hope all is well, wherever you are.

Spring is here but Wellington is somehow getting cooler and colder at night, so it is tricky for us to get ourselves ready for hot day then cold night. Just when we thought we can start swimming on the beach or having picnics in the park, the wind and the weather become less friendly again. Too bad indeed. Unfortunately, more cough and cold are coming as well at the office as well as my kids' school. This transformation of weather is quite annoying if you're not prepared. I guess we just have to stay fit and ensure we have enough multivitamins to go through the days.

My family and I are moving to a new house soon We have been struggling with the high level of humidity which affects my hubby's health. Nothing's wrong with the house as it is the newly-built unit but with the position of the house and the lack of sunshine to the house, the house is damp. Well, we already got the new house and starting November 15th, we will move to Khandallah. Hope all is well and the moving process is smooth. We have to pack our stuff again and it's quite back-breaking LOL. Anyway, we are so excited with the new house and it's way bigger, more modern and lovely. Can't wait, can't wait!

So now, let me welcome you on this week's Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends. This week we will have a lot of tips, tricks, recipes, stories, inspirations and more, only for you. Join us now!

WW: Pōwhiri and the Inauguration Ceremony of the New Mayor of Wellington 2022

Kia Ora!

Morena koutou.. morning from Aoteaora.

I was very privilege to get the opportunity to come and join the Powhiri or the welcoming ceremony of the Workship Tory Whanau, the new Mayor of Wellington City. She was replacing Andy Foster, the previous Mayor of this coolest little Capital, and she is the first Māori Mayor for Wellington! What a historic moment indeed!

the booklet of the Pōwhiri

I joined other diplomatic communities, families, friends and invited guests to the Powhiri. It was conducted in Pipitea Marae, or the traditional house of Māori located in Pipitea, Thorndon. It is a beautiful Marae in the middle of Wellington with so many traditional touch and artworks, including the famous Toi Whakario or Māori art carving. You can see some of the samples of the Māori art carvings which are not only showcasing their artistic side but they are also considered sacred and believed to elevate the objects

We really enjoyed the Powhiri and the Inauguration ceremony, which consists of the Pōwhiri, karanga, hongi, Whaikōrero, and karakia - then the proceedings of the inauguration ceremony, including the Mayor's opening speech, Declaration of Mayor - Elect and the Councillors - Elect, and the appointment of the Deputy Mayor.

Here are some photos I managed to take during the procession.

I was not sure whether we could take pictures or not in the beginning due to the strict property rights' protection of the Māori arts and cultures. Nevertheless, at the less formal stage, we could take some pictures. I even managed to get selfies with Mayor Tory!

Hope Wellington will be getting better, better and better in the future under the Worship, Mayor Tory Whanau.

Ngā mihi koutou.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends

Kia ora and welcome back!

I hope all is well wherever you are. We have been enjoying moody Wellington with more sunshine, less rain and a lot of blossoming colors. I always enjoy spring and I hope we have the benefit of better weather and a lot of excitement as summer is soon coming to Aotearoa. They say that this summer might be super hot as we have freezing winter this year. Well, let's just hope that the weather will always be friendly.

my acupuncture session

I have been fighting my chronic back pain for the last 3 weeks. It's been such. painful journey and I am still struggling with it. I don't know exactly what happened because I have been doing yoga again in New Zealand after being absent for about 3 years. Well, at least on et off during the COVID-19. I am now having physiotherapy twice a week and trying acupuncture once a week. I have been doing a lot of exercises as well. I sincerely hope things will improve and I don't have to consume pain killers anymore.

Btw, many friends and families have been celebrating Halloween in their respected countries and homes. I don't celebrate Halloween but occasionally I join costume party or theme-party.

Last birthday blast we had at the office, I wore my flapper costume and Obi, my daughter, chose high-school uniformed zombie. Well, it was fun to dress up like that.
