Corona Virus is no joke and please everyone take care of your health and be alert.
Indonesia is among more than 100 countries fighting it now.
WHO has announced it as pandemic and steps as well as protocols have been advised. If we follow them closely we will be in good care.

Ron Ton from Clingendael Institute and I..We met the first time 15 years ago back in Den Haag!

Meanwhile, I have been rigorously working on many assignments I have from my diplomatic training time seems to fly fast. Daily quotations, speech, news response, book review, final project and final paper are only some of them. But hey..this intellectual exercise is part of my self-development. So no more complaints... or at least I try LOL. But seriously, digging up my creativity on daily basis ad brushing up  my skill on many facets of diplomacy took a lot of efforts. 

This week, my baby bunny, my youngest daughter Obi, will join her first camping.
The place of her camp is lovely as and as it is part of the girls' scout, which I truly enjoyed when I was younger, I know she will enjoy it.
I sincerely hope all is well and she will benefit from this excursion.

And now, amidst my never ending tasks (no, I'm not complaining :)), let's party, shall we?

Welcome to Rasau Jaya, Pontianak, West Kalimantan

I was thrilled to go back to Pontianak, West Kalimantan, with the office for a field visit to one of the sustainable palm oil plantations in the area.
Have you visited a palm plantation before?

Kalimantan, or many know it as Borneo, is indeed the island of magic.

Its lush green sceneries and its reputation as the lungs of the world have captivated the attention of many and surely it's something that we need to continuously protect.

We visited PT Mitra Aneka Rezeki, one of the companies managed under PT. Pasifik Agro, whose core business is sustainable palm oil. We saw most of the facilities as well as good agricultural practices done by it. We visited the process of producing palm oil and as part of the conservation efforts, each and everyone of us planted the trees in the vacant area near their office. Such an experience indeed. 

We also visited some spots where workers were doing their routines. Many of them are strong women and we discussed a few things with them as well.

And here is the view we could enjoy after climbing up the 18-meter fire tower.
We went up with some friends, took pictures and even vlogged.
It's not everyday you have to courage to climb up that high and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, at least for me.
It's so peaceful to see green lines of palm trees dotting the areas.

This week has been busy and tough for me.
Tons of classes and assignments, trips here and there, and unfriendly weather.
But the show must go on indeed. 
So I just go with the flow and try to enjoy the process.
Besides, this week we are going to have a field trip to Pontianak, West Kalimantan, to see the good agricultural practices at palm oil plantation.
Can't wait, cant wait!

But one thing for sure, we have to be extremely careful as Indonesia has the confirmed case of COVID 19. We take precaution and travel cautiously while maintaining our health always.

Meanwhile, as I am brushing up my diplomatic skills, my kids are getting ready for the exams. My son will soon face the final exam while my daughter is finalizing the classes before the mid term tests. Quite stressful for all of us but hopefully we can pass with flying colors. Wish us luck, people.

WW: Dago Highland Resort, West Java

We are welcoming ourselves back to Bandung.
As you have probably been aware of, my sister-in-law just got married a week ago and we are now taking her to Bandung to meet her new family.

It was my hubby's family who are traveling from Lampung, stop by in Jakarta for one night then travel together to Bandung. It was the 9 of us in total. Good thing we didn't experience traffic except by the time we reached Pasteur toll gateway, the entrance of Bandung. In less than 3 hours, we have arrived in this Paris van Java city.

Welcome to Dago Highland Resort

This time, we decided t stay in Dago Highland Resort.
We visited the house of our sister-in-law new family house in Dago and therefore we chose this area to stay the night.

The resort is located at the top hill of Dago Pakar.
As you can imagine, the resort is okay, just average unfortunately, but the view is amazing.
The joy of listening to the sound of birds chirping, inhaling fresh air, and enjoying wonderful vista is priceless!

Flood in Jakarta, February 2020

Flood in Jakarta? Nothing new, I said.
We all know how horrible the flood was as we had a big blast in the beginning of 2020.
Many areas in Jakarta, Tangerang and greater area of Jakarta and West Java.
What happened in January was horrid and it took a while to take care of it.

But then, last February 25, another wave of flood came to Jakarta and the surrounding areas. Constant heavy rain poured since the night before and the result was another episode of disastrous flood.

I live in East Jakarta, which is not immune from flood but usually only happens on the roads, not literally flooding the houses. My house is safe and not affected, but the roads near us was flooded.

It was not really a problem if I didn't have to attend my diplomatic training :).

As the class was not dismissed, I braced myself to commute with my hubby. Using his KTM bike, we rode the flooded street to reach the Center of Education and Training on the other side of the city. I firstly tried to take the bus but it was stuck due to the blocked or flooded roads as well.

We took detour here and there to ensure the road we chose was safe enough. we lined up with many drivers and riders to take turn passing the roads flooded yet safe enough to go through.

And Alhamdulillah, we made it!

On time!

Meaning I was not stuck in the traffic

So, long story short, we had a happy ending and arrived safely at the CET as well as home.
I even managed to record some short videos and take pictures along the way.
