WW: Shooting Exercise at Kaitoke Shooting Range, New Zealand

Welcome to Kaitoke Shooting Range

This time I will share something a bit different from my previous adventures.

Have you ever tried shooting exercise using pistol and shotgun?

Well, obviously I don’t support the irresponsible use of guns and its damaging impacts, but I had received casual trainings of shooting while joining the service for the first time back in 2002.

Fast forward 18 years later, I surprisingly get another change to try it again. One of the diplomatic missions in Wellington invited other diplomatic missions to join this shooting exercise under the guidance of Kaitoke Pistol Club registered members.

Following the health protocol as well as safety procedures, my son Bo and I joined others in this exercise. I have to admit we enjoyed it. Bo has tried air soft gun in Jakarta as well as paint ball before so he was excited to try the real one. I have checked with the instructor and they said he could join as the New Zealand youth club for it has been established.

We started the exercise with detailed briefing about the rules and procedures of using pistol as well as shotgun. Safety protocols were underlined as well so we all understood all the consequences. Fingers off the trigger before all is ready, making sure all is cleared before firing the target and many more instructions were explained to us. Then we all managed to try the pistols with 10 bullets twice, as well shotgun with 5 bullets once. We really learnt a lot that day.

I managed to hit many targets and so did my son. We learnt more about the techniques and how to ensure everything is safe as well. Bo was even offered to join the club and being trained by our instructor that day as he made good hit. Well, we'll see about that later.

Here are some photos we took during that day. I actually have more videos taken and will share it in my YouTube channel.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Kia Ora!

Wellington has been a bit cold lately. Well, we have like mini storm last weekend and 3 days straight we had heavy rains, super strong wind and coldy, coldy days.

Nevertheless, since the previous weekend was pretty much the same, we tried to go out and enjoyed the weekend by joining some friends in the gym. during the weekdays, I have meetings here and there.

My office rented a sport hall in one of the colleges near our area and every Sunday, for about 2 hours, we can use the hall to do some sports like basketball, volleyball, and badminton.

It was indeed fun to go out and do some exercise that we love like badminton. And you know what, for the first time, we taught Bo and Obi how to play badminton. I know it might be a bit late but always better late than never, right! So my hubby and I thought my kids this favorite game of ours (and many of Indonesians as well).

Bo really enjoyed it and seemed to get the knack of it pretty fast while Obi was a bit struggling with her aim and control for the ball. Later that day, I taught them how to play volley ball as well and while we were laughing a lot as seem to miss so many toss and hit, we enjoyed playing and moving around healthily in that cold Sunday. Not to mention that I can buy bubur ayam, tahu goreng, kembang goyang, peyek and rengginang from Tante Etty, one of the elderies here who sells delicious Indonesian food every week.

jajaaan timeee

Next week, we plan to join a shooting training for diplomatic corps in Rimutaka shooting range and I will definitely share this fun as well.

On a more serious note, we have more and more Omicron cases here in New Zealand, particularly in Auckland. We have ongoing big protests here in Wellington's Parliament about the vaccine mandates and things are note settled yet. However, my hubby and I already have our booster and my daughter got her first shot, while my son had 2 vaccines already. For sure, we all need to be vigilant and stay healthy!

Now, let me welcome you all to Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends.

WW: Blooming Flowers in Wellington and the surrounding areas

I have been trying to jog, stroll and trek around the walk path that we have near our house, office, as well as the surrounding areas.

Along the way, I usually stop by to take pictures of the blooming flowers. I don't always know their names but since they are beautiful, I just snap them with with my phone.

Beautiful, purple Agapanthus

One of the most commonly seen here in Wellington is Agapanthus, the charming purple that apparently is considered as weed. The fact that you can practically see this purple Agapanthus everywhere, standing tall and graceful against the crazy wind in Wellington, makes you think that this is like a native flower around here. I have seen some hydrangea and roses too. I am pretty sure there are some blue (or purple) bells flowers as well. The rest I am not pretty sure about the names though.

I don't know the name of this one. some types of Hydrangea?

Well, if you notice the name of some of these flowers, please let me know on your comment ya. I am thrilled to learn more about these beautiful flowers.

can somebody tell me the name for this?

Cheers and love from Wellington and the surroundings.

pinky roses for sure.

Monsoon Poon, A Cozy Corner for Your Special Day

Monsoon Poon, A Cozy Corner for Your Special Day

Let's continue our journey in exploring the culinary adventure in Wellington, the coolest little capital of the world.

I will take the opportunity to take you to Monsoon Poon,  a cozy corner for your special day, especially for South Asian food lovers. Known as South East Asian Trading House Restaurant and Bar, it is located in the central part of Wellington, to be exact at 12 Blair Street, Te Aro, Wellington. Moonsoon Poon has gained its reputation as an exotic corner, offering more than just delicious, people's favorite palates, but also the experience.

Welcome to Monsoon Poon, Wellington
Welcome to Monsoon Poon

Welcome to Monsoon Poon, Wellington
I really love this exotic entry way

As you enter the premise, you will be transported to another part of the world, - or more likely,  to several parts of the world stretching in the region of my beloved origin. For sure, you have to follow the health protocol by signing in through NZ COVID-19 tracker and showing your vaccine pass to the staff before you are assigned to your seats.

Don't forget your vaccine pass

Before ordering our meal, I was enjoying the colorful, feel-at-home interior design in this restaurant. You will definitely see so many beautiful and intricate traditional fabrics from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and more.

Some fun, rustic old ads and wooden accents as well as statues can be found dotting the rooms. Not to mention in the restroom. In this area, you will see so many photos and posters as well as information about donations and charities that the restaurant and its networks have shared in the area.

Well, let’s take a look at the ambience from some photos I took there. You can see why I love this place.

Such a lovely collection of red lampions, paintings and plates

Now, let's take a look at the menu and the food. As I have mentioned above, they are serving South East Asian cuisines and you will definitely see some curry from Thai, Bangkok street noodles,  Thai beef salad, Singaporean  Fried noodles, Bali prawns, nasi goreng from Indonesia, Pho Bo and more.  During our visit, we orders the green curry, Singaporean noodles, beef and black pepper and chili tofu. Sorry if the photos were not that good as I forgot to take the photos after eating half of them LOL.

All in all, I love the food, the ambience and the interior design of this place. You should try it as well if you are around. Here are more photos I took around the restaurant and hopefully when you come down to Wellington, you get a chance to try their menu.
