WW: The Endless Charm of Napier, the Art Deco Capital of New Zealand

Napier, the Art Deco Capital of New Zealand

Come join me and enjoy the endless charm of Napier, the Art Deco Capital of New Zealand, or probably even the world!

I was lucky enough to go back to Napier area in Hawke's Bay for the second time this year. History said after the earthquake in 1931, the City of Napier got the chance to rebuild their city anew. The art deco theme is their choice and seems like it's the best decision taken. Look at this vibrant city now!

We had series of meetings and events in Napier and we spent 3 days, 2 nights in the area. We drove from Wellington to Napier, taking around 5-hour drive with some short breaks in between.

We stay at the Nautilus hotel this time, just beside Restaurant Indonesia, our favorite restaurant in Napier. I have shared about our dinner here before.

READ: Restaurant Indonesia, Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

We met the Mayor and some of the councillors of the city of Napier. We also met with Indonesian migrant workers here in the aria and KAMIBAY, the Indonesian association for Hawke's Bay region.

As the meetings are well scheduled, I had the time to actually stroll around the area for some times and here are some photos I took. I mainly strolled in the area in front of the Nautilus Hotel or the Marine Parade as well as the city center.  Come and join me..

Having Fun at Scorch - O - Rama Restaurant in Wellington, New Zealand

Wellington is indeed a beautiful city packed with cool, lovely restaurants dotting around this capital of New Zealand. One of my favorite spots is the Bay area, where we have long lines of shores and beaches. Here, we have the  famous Oriental Bay, Scorching Bay, Karaka Bay and more.

In Scorching Bay, the first beach area I have visited with the whole family during the new year (READ : One Fine Day at Scorching Bay Beach Wellington New Zealand) , we have one lovely restaurant that has become almost everyone's favorite. The restaurant/cafe/milkbar  is called Scorch - O - Rama.

If you like super heroes, colorful comic pages and figurines, Scorch - O - Rama Restaurant is here for you. I have to say that this is one of the  quirky and cutey restaurant in in town. Located at the famous  Scorching Bay area, you won't miss this place as it is super eye catchy and literally is located by the beach. In the front, you will see lovely decoration coming from sea shells with big name board and nautical theme decoration.

As you step inside, you will enjoy the super hero, dreamy world as you will see super heroes everywhere. From the wall, the table, the bar, the chair, the decoration, the menu and more. Check out some of the photos I took while enjoying my lunch here and tell me what you think.

Which one is your favorite?

As for the menu, they also have so many choices, coming with cute and intriguing names, plus an array of the healthy one as well. As you can see here, the drinks come with many interesting names especially from the milk bar and the super hero shakes, like the Wolverine, Hit Girl, and Captain America.

these are the standard ones...

Check out this menu...

Although they are originally coming with spirits or alcohol, you can obviously order one without! And that's exactly what I did! I tried the Hit Girl with that lovely ice cream, chocolate and boysenberries.

My Hit Girl yaaay...

For the food, we really had to take a long time to decide what to order as the choices look all so well and again the names are so distracting LOL. I got thorn between Scorch - O - Rama Ding Dong, Jaws Benny, and Han Solo LOL. Again, we can ask for the customized one here, like for me, I take out all the bacon and pork sausages from my menu since I don't eat them. I ended up ordering the ceasar salad, spinach, creamy mushroom, and the salmon. Delicious indeed!

After finishing our meals, we simply headed out and took more pictures of the bay and the beach! I have to say the ocean is super inviting but too bad we have to headed back to the office obviously.

The bay is so tempting... nice dip in beautiful day indeed

super inviting...

So, what do you think?
Super cute place, right? No wonder this place is packed in weekends and whenever Wellington has a beautiful day!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Welcome back!

How is your April so far? Friendly and satisfying? Or crazily busy like mine?

We started this fourth month of the year with a series of meetings. I have been coming along with my Ambassadors to some ministries, working lunches (before Ramadhan) and to the Parliament to meet some of our counterparts from different walk of life. We have particular issue to discuss with our partners and friends. These processes of ideas exchanges are really exciting and enriching at the same time, as we listen to many point of views and perspectives. One example is when we met the Speaker of the House, the Honorable Trevor Mallard. We sat down and discussed many global issues and concerns, while at the same time trying to figure out the solutions. Not always that easy but it's always good to have a dialogue about it. I sincerely hope that this exercise will be beneficial for many, including me .

Meanwhile, I have been trying to work more in the kitchen, Trying different recipes is certainly fun but it is also time consuming. Nevertheless, it is not always successful either so I really have to make notes of what works and what does not. But then again, as long as it is packed with cheese, I can never say no. There are so many things to try and so many new things to work on. I hope I can definitely nail many of them.

But now, it's time for Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends. Ready to join us?

Welcoming Ramadhan in Wellington, New Zealand

Alhamdulillah..

Ramadhan is soon coming.

This holy month blessed with so many beautiful pahala and deeds, given to those who dedicate their niat or willingness, as well as their deeds and action only for Allah SWT the Almighty. Ramadhan is not only about refraining from eating, drinking and conducting intimate intercourse. Or stop gossiping and It is also the perfect time for us to reflect upon everything we have done and redeem ourselves, trying to be a way better person. Ramadhan will be the high time for us to restrain from unnecessary and consuming greed, to share more to others and to get closer to our Creator.

This year, we have our Ramadhan in Wellington, New Zealand.

Our first time ever.

Along with me, Udi my hubby menggenapi pengalaman saya di 4 negara, sementara untuk anak - anak, ini kali ketiga mereka berganti tempat tinggal.

Nanti aku cerita lebih lanjut deh mengenai keseruannya ya, terutama dari the land of the Kiwis.

Now, let's see how Ramadhan is here in Wellington, New Zealand. Since we started it at the end of summer and the beginning of fall or autumn, the length of time for our fasting is pretty much similar to that of Indonesia. We start the fasting from 5.15 AM and end it t 6.15 PM. So more or less it's 13 hours. Really manageable. Especially since the weather here is also friendly now. Well, it's still cold but that's way better than if it is too hot. we are so privilege as we have got the experience of doing the fasting month in summer. Long hours, hot weather, regular work schedule and school were really huge challenges for us while fasting in Geneva and in New York.

We follow the announcement from FIANZ or the Federation of Islamic Association of New Zealand. FIANZ has a special working group dealing with the sighting of new moon to confirm the start of Ramadhan. Based on FIANZ memo, Ramadhan starts on April 4th, 2022 in New Zealand. So, that's Monday for us.

So far, we don't really have preparation in particular besides making sure that we have our resolute commitment to be a much better, more righteous follower.

Marhaban yaa Ramadhan.

Kami sekeluarga mengucapkan selamat menjalankan ibadah puasa dan mohon maaf lahir dan batin ya teman -teman.

Have a solemn Ramadhan.
