WW: Happy Wedding Pipit and Agus

Happy wedding, Pipit and Agus

Pipit and Agus, the bride and the groom

Last weekend, we celebrated the wonderful wedding of Pipit, my hubby's youngest sister, and Agus. We went back to Lampung and had a wonderful reunion with our big family and celebrating the unity of two beautiful families. I love it! It's been quite sometimes we didn't have family wedding and everyone got so excited.

Somehow, the wedding was dominated by purple and white, my favorite colors. The seserahan or mahar or the dowry, was also decorated in purple.
I just love them all!

Happy wedding..

My hubby and I took the chance to take some pictures as well.
It was really a wonderful day!

My hubby and I ...

Akad nikah, or the signing of the marriage contract, was conducted solemnly.
Akad Nikah itself is the process when the physical marriage contract is signed, and it obviously includes and involves the bride and the groom, their parents or wali (legitimate guardian), designated witnesses, and penghulu or an officiant. During this ceremony, the officiant, usually represented by an Imam and other community leader, delivered a valuable message and recites parts of the Quran to remind us the beauty of marriage and how best to live together. Once this holy ritual was concluded, we had sungkeman, a tradition where bride and groom asked for forgiveness and approval from parents, the elderlies, brothers and sisters. It was usually filled with joyful tears and happiness. Very touchy.

The reception or walimah was conducted right after akad nikah.  For this, Pipit the bride and Agus the groom wore traditional Lampungnese costumes, complete with Siger, - the headdress, kebaya and golden bebe or chest cover, Tapis - the hand-woven traditional fabrics adorned with gold threads (here she wore the Songket) and accessories like necklaces (yes, she wore many of them :)), bracelets, rings and even keris or traditional dagger for the groom. They look royal indeed! I love Lampungnese wedding.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls, and Friends

Another week and I had a blast last weekend joining an outbound program with our Senior Diplomatic Training class, Sesparlu Batch 64.

clear blue sky and plush paddy field welcomed us at Purwakarta

When I said senior, most of us are indeed more than 40 years old and have been posted abroad twice. It also means that we have worked at least around 15 years in the ministries. In my case it’s 18 years. That's quite some period.

So we had an outbound activities, aiming at getting to know one another and building our team work. We had it in Purwakarta, West Java, and it was fun indeed. We had all those silly  yet competitive games, challenges and group tasks. then we had bonfire as well as archeries plus archeries battle. Long story short, we had a blast.

Now, let me invite you to our weekly link party with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girl and friends.

WW: Fort Frederick, St. George's, Grenada

Let's continue our journey to St. George's, Grenada, shall we?

Overlooking the amazing view of St. George's

I'm in love with this country as it has so much in common with my beloved Indonesia.

One thing for sure, we both are the world's largest producers of nutmeg.
This golden spice really spurs up the economy and give this lovely country its fame.
And probably, on a bleaker side, also bring colonialism.

So, on the following day after my endless meetings in this island of spice, we decided to browse around the city. We rent the local taxi from the hotel and I traveled around with my dearest friend, Rie Kadota. We had 2 forts with amazing view from the top, local market and museums. St. George's itself has 4 forts on every corner of the city.

Here are some photos I took from Fort Frederick with its amazing vista and the surroundings. Hope you love it as much as I do!

Welcome to Fort Frederick

It took us about 40 minutes to drive up here. Not because it's far but because of the traffic along those narrow yet cute alleys and road in the city. As we had stopped at the local market before heading here, we managed to eat fresh mangoes along the way. Super yuuum!

clear blue sky!
Fort Frederick is such a lovely place.
You can read a glimpse of its interesting history on the photo below.

Here are more photos from the surroundings of the fort.
I love the fresh yellow frangipani (that's the name of this type of flower, right?), the clear blue sky, fresh breeze, and relatively well-maintained architectures.

Don't

Perfect spot for a photo shoot :)

St. George's, Grenada
the vast ocean in front of you..

Uniquely, this fort is not facing the sea but rather backwards.
The fort is facing the city, as the British had traumatic experience of being attacked by the French from inland, instead of the ocean. That's the reason why the canons are also facing the city.

And here's happy me posing on Fort Frederick, wearing my favorite t-shirt saying: I swear I'm a blogger :)

St. George's, Grenada

Meanwhile, have you managed to check out my video o YouTube about my trip to Grenada?

Here's a little sneak peak of what you can do in St. George's in a day.

Feel free to see the previous video on Grenada as well, particularly about the lovely Grand Anse Beach and the famous Catamaran sail we can also do in St. George's, Grenada.
