Heloooo.. Here comes another Wonderful Wednesday, on Tuesday, with is :). 
This week has been another adventurous and great week for us, as Anniesa Hasibuan's team was still at the Big Apple. As you see on my previous posts, we have been having series of fashion shows and photo session at Sleepy Hollow.

Working behind the scene, it was fun taking pictures with the models and the whole team.

PEARLASIA, Anniesa Hasibuan for 2016 Couture Fashion Week

I know it's been a week after the amazing show of PEARLASIA, Anniesa Hasibuan for 2016 Couture New York Fashion Week. Is it too late to give you the complete story of the show? I sincerely hope not. Particularly since we have so many follow up activities after this successful show.

That Saturday was supposed to be the coldest day in the year. Artic weather came and said hi, even decided to stay around, I guess. But that didn't stop me from heading to Crowne Plaza Times Square, where 2016 Couture New York Fashion Week took place.

Brought 2 bags of jasmin rice, important staple food for my fellow Indonesians joining Anniesa Hasibuan's team, I braved myself and headed to the hotel. It was not that bad when I arrived, as sunshine did warm the day a little bit. As I arrived, mba Caroline Septerita, the senior professional makeup artist and hijab stylist, was working on Laura Muljadi, one of Indonesian super models joining the team. On the corner, Sarah Azka, another super model came directly from Jakarta, Indonesia, busied herself with snapchat as her makeup was done. Then everything felt like blurred memory as we get everything ready, from special goodie bags for Anniesa's guests to preparing the dresses, from finding the missing models and taking selfies with them. All behind the scene until the show itself started.

And I got to admit, I can still feel the goosebumps I got looking at the intricate details and royal look of 15 stunning dresses prepared and made with love by our talented young designer, Anniesa Hasibuan.

Anniesa Hasibuan mungkin merupakan salah satu pendatang baru di dunia fashion Indonesia. Namun gebrakannya luar biasa. Setelah tahun lalu tampil pula di 2015 Couture New York Fashion Week dengan Sasikirana, tahun 2016, Anniesa kembali mencuri hati NYC dengan PEARLASIA, koleksi adi busana yang sarat dengan mutiara Lombok yang terkenal di dunia. Brokat pilihan dalam berbagai warna pastel maupun nuansa off white and gold membuat koleksi busana haute couture yang cocok dipakai oleh ratu dan putri ini sukses menuai pujian di panggung NYFW.

As promised, while enjoying my first row experience during the fashion show, I took the liberty of taking some snaps with my smartphone. And working behind the scene with the team get me the up-close-and-personal look of the astonishing works of Anniesa Hasibuan.

Pengalaman yang mencerahkan lho bisa duduk di deretan depan pertunjukan fashion sekelas Couture New York Fashion Week, sekaligus membantu tim di belakang panggung dalam mempersiapkan model dengan pakaian-pakaian yang akan ditampilkan. Bayangkan saja... ada 15 baju yang ditampilkan dengan 15 model, 2 dari Indonesia, Laura Muljadi dan Sarah Azka, serta 13 model lainnya dari berbagai negara, termasuk Inggris, Belanda, dan USA. Beberapa pakaian menggunakan petticoat atau lapisan dalam yang menggembung dengan barisan kancing tutup yang memanjang di bagian belakang. Belum lagi penutup kepala atau hijab dan mahkota mutiara yang digunakan oleh setiap model. Pendek kata, seru :). Banyak kejadian asyik yang asli seru dan takkan terlupakan.

I only use my iPhone 6 plus and Ztylus camera for this, leaving my DSLR and all those lenses at home so that I can sit down and really enjoy the show.

Kali ini, saya hanya mengandalkan handphone untuk mengambil foto-foto selama fashion show berlangsung. Dan hasilnya tidak begita maksimal memang, namun yang penting saya tetap menikmati jalannya pagelaran busana ini dan mengabadikan beberapa.

It's very unfortunate that Anniesa herself cannot join us on this great event but working behind the scene with such a solid team is incredible. Kisses for mba Caroline Septerita, Mba Murni, Indah, Hanna, Mas Aldi, Ariz, Fuad, and Mba Afida Sukma. And of course, our lovely models, Laura and Sarah, plus Mba Ika et Matteo. Meet the angels of Sleepy Hollow

And we're back to Sleepy Hollow again.

Masih ingat cerita saya ketika mampir di salah satu kompleks pemakaman paling kondang di AS? Kalau suka dengan serial televisi yang bergenre horror, pasti tidak asing lagi Sleepy Hollow dan legendanya. Walaupun saya bukan fans beratnya, tapi saya familiar sekali dengan legenda yang satu ini.

Last fall, we managed to visit this historical cemetery and took a stroll in several corners of the place. Including the famous headless horseman bridge. Perhaps, it's one of the reasons why we actually came to this place in the first place.

And today, we're back with Anniesa Hasibuan's team for a photo session of PEARLASIA, which has been beautifully showcased during the 2016 CoutureNew  York Fashion Week.

Meet the angels at Sleepy Hollow

We chose one of the corners with angelic statues in the old part of the cemetery. In a way, the ambience matches the dresses chosen for the photo session. 

Karya Anniesa Hasibuan yang sarat details dan royal elegant membuatnya terlihat menyatu dengan pemandangan sekitar Sleepy Hollow yang terasa syahdu  dengan berbagai patung bidadari. Layaknya kompleks pemakaman tua di negara ini, Sleepy Hollow memang banyak dihiasi berbagai nisan maupun patung-patung bernuansa religius yang menggambarkan pengharapan dari keluarga yang ditinggalkan akan damainya surga. Tidak heran jika patung bidadari pun menghiasai berbagai sudut kompleks pemakaman ini. Dengan wajah tanpa dosa yang mirip dengan boneka, saya senang melihat wajah bidadari yang biasanya menengadahkan tangannya ke atas seperti meniupkan pujian dan doa-doa kepada Yang Kuasa di atas sana. So peaceful.

And we paid tribute to General Delavan and his family, for his beautiful tomb, erected in 1876 by Charles H.Delavan.

This is the spot where we have the angelic statues surrounding us. And I just can't get enough of it, because those angels surely make me feel so peaceful.

Meskipun terkenal dengan legenda kusir tak berkepala atau the headless horseman, namun kompleks pemakaman seluas 90 acres ini jauh dari suasana seram dan mistis. Bahkan di bagian jembatan yang konon dianggap sebagai salah satu tempat munculnya kusir tak berkepala tadi, suasananya justru terasa asri dan damai, karena memang dikelilingi pepohonan dan riak aliran sungai Pocantico. Saat kami kembali ke sini, pepohonan di sekitar jembatan masih dihiasi daun yang menguning, sisa-sisa keindahan musim gugur yang telah lalu.

With such a natural beauty of the surrounding hilly Sleepy Hollow, and amidst the falling leaves as well as the running creek of Pocantico River, our models, Laura Muljadi and Sarah Azka, and us truly enjoy our photo session here. And we truly meet the angels of Sleepy Hollow :).

Like Mother like Daughter

Setiap pagi, putri kecilku sibuk dengan ritualnya memilih pakaian yang akan ia kenakan hari itu. Iya, pilih-pilih baju.
Tidak jarang Obi, anak perempuanku, menolak untuk mandi atau sarapan sebelum memilih bajunya. 
Geregetan ngg sih :).

Apalagi kalau pagi menjelang sekolah kan waktu yang tersedia tidak terlalu panjang. Belum sarapan, mandi, pakai baju dan sepatu plus final cek untuk buku dan tas sekolahnya. Ada yang mengalami hal yang sama?

Sejak kecil, Obi memang suka dengan fashion :). 
Dan makin besar, sepertinya makin besar pula perhatiannya terhadap baju yang ia pakai. Paling tidak dia selalu menyempatkan diri untuk memilih apa yang akan dipakai setiap harinya. Dan saya suka diam-diam memperhatikan. Tidak jarang Obi berulang kali memadupadankan atasan, rok, legging ataupun dress yang akan dipakai sampai mendapat padanan yang menurutnya pas. Coba.. Bisa 10 menit sendiri di depan lemari :).

Kalau melihat gaya pakaian Obi, sepertinya modelnya suka-suka deh. Tabrak sana-sini, mix and match terserah aja haha #langsungingatdirisendiri #likemotherlikedaughter. Yang pasti, Obi suka warna cerah dan motif yang unik dan lucu. Kalau sudah begini, Obi bener-bener anak mama >_<.

Tapi bener lho, banyak gaya berpakaian saya yang 'menurun' ke Obi. 

Walaupun saya tidak pernah memaksakan harus pakai yang ini or yang itu, tapi Obi pun menyukai gaya etnik yang sering saya gunakan. Apalagi wastra Indonesia kan cantik-cantik sekali, saya pun beberapa kali membuatkan baju atau rok yang senada dari kain-kain tradisional Indonesia untuk Obi. Psssst.. Obi juga jadi suka warna ungu dan pink karena lihat mamanya sering banget pakai kedua warna ini. Kesimpulannya benar-benar like mother like daughter nih :).

So now, ini beberapa tips saya mempersiapkan baju anak-anak di pagi hari.

1. Siapkan dari malam sebelumnya.

Secara teori, ini tips yang paling membantu di saat waktu kita di pagi hari tidak banyak. Saya suka meminta mereka memiih baju lalu digantung di dekat lemari pakaian anak-anak agar mudah diambil di pagi hari. Kalau malam tidak sempat, usahakan dilakukan pagi-pagi.

2. Beri pengertian mengenai pakaian yang sesuai, baik sesuai dengan cuaca, kesopanan dan faktor lainnya. Kan berbahaya jika cuaca lagi dingin-dinginnya Obi memilih kaos tipis atau celana pendek. Or in the middle of summer, boots salju kesayangannya yang dipakai. Demikian pula untuk kesopanan. Sebagai orang timur, saya selalu mengingatkan anak-anak untuk menjaga kesopanan, termasuk melalui pakaian yang kita kenakan. 

3. Ajarkan disiplin waktu. Ini penting buat saya karena jika tidak diajarkan yang satu ini, maka banyak waktu yang terbuang. Saya selalu mengingatkan Obi bahwa dia perlu mengambil keputusan dalam waktu yang tidak terlalu lama, apalagi untuk urusan baju. In a way, it helps her make  up her mind and again train her to make decisions in a short time.

4. Dampingi mereka saat memilih. Biar bagaimana pun anak-anak is anak-anak. Mereka masih perlu bimbingan dan panduan orang tua, termasuk urusan memilih baju. Apalagi anak-anak kan banyak maunya. Kalau tidak dibimbing bisa-bisa semua dibeli deh :) #kekepindompet.

Salah satu teman yang saya yang juga punya 'kelucuan' yang sama dengan pakaian anak-anaknya adalah mba Astin Astanti. Meskipun Faiz dan Fira lebih kecil dari Bo et Obi, tapi keseruan yang dihadapi sama ternyata, terutama untuk urusan baju anak-anak.  Yang pasti kalau sudah begini mamanya harus sabaaar ya.
