Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends

Hello spring and hello to you all!

To those living in a northern part of the world, you are now entering one of the most beautiful seasons in the year, autumn. But for us in the southern athmosphere, it's time to embrace the blossoming flowers and trees and warmer weather!

Spring is in the air!

Although Wellington still have many rainy days and freezing mornings, at least the afternoon is clear and sunny, giving you a warming feeling and excitement. This will be the first spring for us at Aotearoa and we're already packed with plans to explore the country more.

We just recently visited Aston Norwood Garden (click HERE to see more photos and story) to enjoy cherry blossoms in greater Wellington and strolled around Paraparaumu Beach plus Paekakariki Lookout. It's just lovely to go outdoor and enjoy the fresh air! Next, we have Rotorua, lake Taupo (again) and Auckland in the agenda! Hope we stay healthy and fit to do all this wonderful plan.

Moreover, work wise, we have more offline meetings and coordination. Again, it's so good to meet people face-to-face after all these years. I know the pandemic is not yet gone but with the vaccines and boosters and all the supplements as well as health supplies that we can utilize, we are confident enough to start doing our activities as we did it before. Well, not entirely the same but similar in many aspects. All in all, we are adapting with the new normal without sacrificing too much of our social life as human.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World and Friends

Hope all is well wherever you are and September is treating us kind.

Many is mourning for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, including here in New Zealand. She was a remarkable woman for sure and may Her Majesty rest in peace. New Zealand is also deeply mourning and all the New Zealand flags were in half mast.

Meanwhile, I have been preparing some events with the office as well as diplomatic circle in windy Welly. Now that we are gearing towards the end of the year and summer time in New Zealand, we will have many activities and programs. Many receptions, meetings, gatherings and discussions are on the pipeline. Wish us luck and hopefully things work well as intended.

I have been joining the Balinese dance workshop and it's been fun indeed. We learn Kakan - kakan dance, which means sisters. It is really a good exercise and we also have fun learning it. Balinese dance is really something and we learn more than just the dance. I will update you on the workshop and how we progress.

We have been enjoying some sunshine as well. This time, we went to Paraparaumu beach and Paekakariki Lookout. It's beautiful up there!

One more thing.. we just bought a sewing machine! So excited to learn how to use it and I know it will take a while LOL. But I have my eyes on many beautiful fabrics. Hope I can really learn how to sew. Again, wish me luck!

ASEAN Ladies Circle Meeting in Wellington

Welcome back and allow me to share about ASEAN Ladies Circle meeting in Wellington.

As you know, ASEAN is the regional organization comprises 10 (ten) Member States in South East Asia, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam. ASEAN is not only an organization but also a community bound by similar virtues, commitment and shared vision. It continues to thrive through various challenges and dynamics at the region as well as in the world.

Well, I am not going to dwell on the substantive part of ASEAN and its priorities but for us, Indonesia, ASEAN is the bed rock and wherever I am posted, there will always be an ASEAN Committee in those accredited country. After Geneva and New York, Wellington is no exception. Here we have ASEAN Committee in Wellington or ACW.

Besides ACW, we also have ASEAN Ladies Circle or ALC. The members of the ALC are the ladies from the missions of ASEAN Member States in Wellington as well as ladies from ASEAN countries who reside in Wellington and other cities in New Zealand.

Every 3 month, we have a meeting and the last one we had was hosted by the Thailand Embassy. We met and learnt how to make Luk Chup, a lovely dessert made of grounded mung beans, shaped in many cute forms and dipped in gelatine.

It tastes good and looks cute as well. It certainly was fun learning how to do it!

It's a pot luck gathering so each ASEAN missions bring one main dish and one dessert. This time, we brought batagor or Indonesian tofu and fish cake with peanut sauce as well as lapis legit or layer cake. Others brought delicious food as well and we certainly had fun enjoying the food and the desserts.
