Happy happy birthday to me!

Well, it has been more than a week but I have to share the celebration of my birthday here indeed. This year is special, as unlike previous birthday, I celebrated it while being home quarantine. It was already more than 2 weeks and I was feeling much, much better indeed.

So, there we went. 

Right in the middle of midnight, when the clock stroke 12.01 August 11, my hubby hugged and kissed me for the start of my birthday celebration. Well, the celebration continued in the morning, in the quarantine mode. So we all still wear our masks and maintain the distance. The kids shouted happy birthday from behind my bed room door and slipped the birthday cards they have prepared. super sweet of them!

I had my birthday cake, some cute double choco glaze, as well as brownies cheese cake. Well, that's sugar overloaded for sure LOL. My hubby got me the purple one and I love it so very much. Although I don't eat too much of them but I know my kids and my family will devour it. My kids do enjoy all these sweet tarts and cheese cakes.

I also have pempek or the Indonesian fish cake for this special day as well. Pempek is indeed one of my favorite dishes. Can't get enough of it. This time, I got pempek panggang, with the filling of spicy ebi or udang rebon (I don't know what the translation in English but it's like tiny tiny prawns). I have to admit I love it very much. My mom also cooked us nasi kuning complete with all its side dishes. Thank you mama, it's super delicious as well!

Birthday edition

Happy, happy birthday to me!

August here and how I love to celebrate this lovely month of August with a big bang! Well, just kidding. I am still in the quarantine and there is no way I will celebrate my birthday with parties or get-together. But of course, I am super blessed that even during the quarantine, for the 2nd time, I was blessed with the spirit and the strength to fight back. I was again lucky to get all the necessary medicine needed to fight the pandemic and this time, together with my hubby, we stayed at home and rest.

So, as August 11 came, my hubby hugged me in the middle of the night and wished me a very happy birthday. Again, although the condition is far from ideal and we both are still fighting the cough, I felt so blessed. My kids knocked our door and shouted happy birthday from outside and slipped the birthday cards to me. They wrote lovely cards and I was so happy to read them.

Later that day, my birthday caked arrived and I really loved it. It's the double chocolate mirror glaze in purple. I love it and my kids can't get enough of it either. I ordered in in one of the IG dessert shops near my house and I just love the turn out. It's a lovely cake indeed.

We then had wonderful brunch of nasi kuning made with love by my mom as well as brownies cheese cakes for extra dessert. What a lovely day indeed! I really thank the Almighty for all the blessings.

The Met Fifth Avenue - the Islamic Section

Hi everyone.

Hope you all enjoy your day, safe and sound, wherever you are.

Still from my last visits to the Met, or the Metropolitan Museum in New York City, I am welcoming you to another #throwback edition of my days in the Big Apple. As I am currently longing for a visit to a museum, I will drag you along with me back to the Met at the 5th Avenue. Marvelous, right!

Remember the Medieval part where I shared most of European paintings, sculptures and costumes from that era? With Victorian lush, velvety god-knows-how-heavy-it-was gown worn by a petit ladies, I frankly got a bit lost (if you call a half-day is 'a bit') whenever I came down to the Met.

So, this time, I will take you to another part of the Museum, especially the Islamic one. I managed to see and enjoy the collections from the Islamic world. It is interesting to see all those items, architectures, colors, patterns and shapes.

Some sections reminded me of La Alhambra Palace in Granada for its unique and colorful ceramics. There are different kinds of al Quran, the holy Koran, being written in different eras, patios and fountains. 

Check out these photos and tell me what you like best. The first part I saw reminded me of La Alhambra with its horse-shaped pillars and calligraphy.

Then you will see the tapestries, hand-woven fabrics and more in this section as well. 

There is one beautiful Mihrab as well, the place where the imam, the leader in our sholat or praying. It has beautiful design and colors, dominated in green, blue, turquoise and the hues. Tell me if you think it's beautiful as well.

Then I get to see the Damascus Room. It's amazing to see the architectures here. 

There are more collections to enjoy  as well here and for sure you will learn something from it or at least admire the arts. I hope you enjoy the collections through the photos.

Welcoming August with My Purple World and Wonderful Wednesday

Welcome, August.

This month is my month, as my birthday is coming. Well, I know I will continue my journey in the 40s this year and for sure I'm excited to be enjoying life at this point, with all its ups and downs.

Speaking of life, things have been a bit blurry for my sometimes. Maybe because I have so many things going on and sometimes I just have to quickly make decisions which one the priorities. Not always that easy, considering that most of the decision I made have consequences. Well, I guess we all are confronted by similar situation here. So, hopefully you all will always have the best way of running your life and letting everything fall to its beautiful places. How about you? Do you take and consider a lot of factors before making decisions? What will be the toughest or the hardest decisions you have made so far? How do you take that decision? Any regrets?

Anyway, I have been digging on my external hard disk and phone memories again. Really, If I have all the time in the world, I would probably do that 24/7 and start editing all those lovely, memorable photos and videos. Well, apparently I am not that lucky LOL.

Nevertheless, when I have same spare time or in-between, I am taking the liberty to enjoy this pastime. Check out my videos in my YouTube Channel as I have put many new ones, especially those from long-awaited trip to Havana, Cuba. I love seeing those clips again.

For next week, we will have my son's 2nd shot and this time, my mom and my little brother will take him. I am still in quarantine mode until next week, as I am now entering the first 8 days of my quarantine. I feel way much better now, especially in the cough department. Frankly speaking, this cough is super annoying and since the very beginning, I can tell that this cough is not the same as previous ones I have  endured before. The fact that I cannot inhale fully and how itchy it was also scared me. Good things we, my husband and I, got the treatment right away and less than a week things are getting better again. My hubby still suffer anoxia but hopefully he will soon recover as well.  Wish us luck, please!  This somehow reminds me that I will celebrate my birthday with my hubby only.. or with the kids but from different floor in the house. Well, there will always be the first thing for everything, right! Keep the spirit high and always remember to be grateful! Sty safe, happy and healthy, everyone!
