Hello, New York City!

Happy to be back to the Big Apple!

As I have mentioned before in my previous posts, Indonesia is the President of the UN Security Council for May 2019. This week, I will be at the Council for series of meeting for Open Debate on Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict. Previously, we had our signature event for the Open Debate for Peacekeeping Operations. Well, it's been a tough journey during the preparation as the Minister herself will be chairing the meeting and the consultation. But I am glad to be part of this historical moment. So wish me luck!

Meanwhile, enjoy some photos captured here and there in New York City, particularly Grand Central!

Spending around 9 days here in New York City, I stopped over in Tokyo before, enjoying a brief city tour to Meiji Shrine and Harajuku area. I have posted in my previous post in WW: Meiji Shrine, Tokyo, Japan if you want to see more photos of this spot.

Welcome to Meiji Shrine, Tokyo, Japan

My itchy feet is back on track!

This time, I have meetings in New York City for UN Security Council and I managed to have a brief transit at Tokyo, Japan, as I take ANA. It was around 9 hours lay over but with all the traveling to and from the airports (I arrived in Haneda and leaving to NYC from Narita Airport, mind you :)), I only managed to have around 3 hours enjoying downtown Tokyo.

This time, I decided to stop at Meiji Shrine in Yoyogi Park and Takeshita Dori in Harajuku area. It was a short but fun indeed!

The shrine is beautifully located in spacious Yoyogi Park, lined with plush green trees.

In the middle of it, we also see the 'sake wall', an interesting display of sake drum wrapped in straw and beautifully adorned with paintings.

I was happily taking pictures here and there obviously, while enjoying a nice stroll in Tokyo's summery day!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Happy Ifthar!

What a lovely week.

Ramadhan continues and we are now heading towards the second week of this holy month. I am super happy and proud that my kids and my family solemnly observe the fasting month. Bo et Obi are brave and strong enough to have full fasting days and observe their praying as well, including sholat taraweh.

One of the highlights about this lovely month is I get to spend more and more quality time with my loved ones. Office hours stop at 3 PM and I can go straight home to prepare for Ifthar or the meal for breaking the fast. My daughter, Nadine, and I spent some times in the kitchen to cook and we prepared our favorite munchies, such as mini martabak, tempe goreng tepung, and

There are times when we went out and had Ifthar at the restaurant as well. Boy, those restaurants are packed indeed with people have gatherings of Ifthar. We usually have to be at the restaurant early to make sure we have the seat and order the food on time. Sometimes parking can be a bit tricky as well and for sure, one of my main concerns is the place for praying. well, the facilities are available but the queueing is crazy, be it for praying as well as for wudhu or ablution. Well, it's one of the 'beauties' of Ramadhan.
