WW: Teaching Nadine the Joy of Cycling

 Hi everyone…

We have been enjoying some sunny winter days here in Wellington, which are a bit rare. This July we have seen so many stormy and freezing days, although there’s no snow in windy Welly.

So, while having the sunshine, we decided to go out and had a little hike in Skyview pathway near our house and taught Nadine, my girl, how to bike.

Yes.. biking! Nadine hasn’t really get a chance to learn how to bike properly and my hubby thought that this would be the perfect time for her to learn it properly. We have two mountain bikes at home and soon we will have the fun bike as well as part of the celebration of our Independence Day.

hold it steady, love..

Then off we went to have a little hike and enjoy the sunset while at the same time teach Nadine how to bike. She surely need to practise more and more. My son Bo has been helping a lot as well and they really had a lot of fun laughing each other 🥰

Eid Al Adha Mubarak

Wishing all my sisters and brothers who celebrate a wonderful Eid Al Adha.

Eid Al Adha Mubarak!

This is the first celebration of Eid Al Adha that my family and I have in Wellington. We were lucky because we have the celebration of the Eid at our office, the Embassy of Indonesia in Wellington.

We started the praying session quite early at 8 AM and continued with breakfast together with Soto Ayam or the Indonesian chicken soup as the main menu. We also have potluck so various menus we also available. I brought perkedel kentang or potato fritters for this celebration. We had corn fritters, quiche, nuggets and some desserts like fruit pudding, cookies and cakes as well. It was a merry celebration indeed.

The khotbah or the sermont was given by one of our local staff, Ustadz Agam Jaya. He shared the story of qurban or the sacrifice as well as about Hajj or the pilgrimage. It was such a moving story and I sincerely hope my family and I can come and visit Makkah and Madinah for our holy pilgrimage. Ameeen.

We did our qurban in Indonesia, particularly in Lampung, our hometown. Alhamdulillah together with the big family, we can have the cow this year.

As you might know, the values celebrated during Eid al Adha is the beauty of sharing with those who are less fortunate than us and ikhlas, or sincere, sacrificing or  letting go the things we love for our love to Allah SWT, the Almighty. Just like the story of Abraham and Ismail. Sometimes, this simple principle is the hardest in its implementation and that’s why we are reminded every year in this beautiful celebration.

After the prayer and breakfast, we took pictures together and called it a day.

Hope we all always remember the beauty of sharing with others and our love to Our Creator.

Happy Eid Al Adha!

WW: William Harding Photo Exhibition

Welcome to William Harding Photo Exhibition

I came across an amazing Photo Exhibition at New Zealand National Library.

As I finished my yoga session at the High Commission of India's office, I stopped by at the National Library to enjoy the exhibition of William Harding called Between Skin and Shirt, the photographic portraits of William Harding.

At first, I didn't know who William Harding was but then I learnt more as I strolled around the displays. All the portraits captured by him really showed strong emotions and truly attracted your attention. Noting that these photos were taken in the 18

Here are some of them.

So, what do you think?
I really enjoy all the photos and the emotions clearly displayed from them. I hope I can always enjoy stellar works like this here in Wellington. For sure, I will share it to you in my blog then.

I spent a lovely Saturday enjoying yoga class at the High Commission of India office in Wellington, then strolling around the city center and the waterfront before ending the day at Te Papa Museum. I also made a stop at New Zealand National Library. I really enjoy William Harding’s photography displays, featuring amazing portraits that speak more than thousand words.

Gallipoli Exhibition at Te Papa Museum Wellington

Hi everyone!

Time to explore Wellington and I would love to share my love to the museums. Wellington will be the best place for those museum lovers like me, as this capital city is packed with world - class museum.

the Maori Gate at Te Papa Museum

One of the best museum in town is Te Papa Museum. This national museum is indeed a nation pride. Spread in 6 different floors, this museum certainly has a lot to offer.

I got a chance to visit Te Papa Museum in one weekend. One of the highly recommended exhibitions they have there is the Gallipoli Exhibition called Gallipole, the Scale of Our War.

As I stepped into the giant entrance gate of the Gallipoli Exhibition, I knew I would be blown away by its bleak yet interesting details about this horrific war. Focusing on the stories and personal memories of some of the New Zealanders who were part of the war, the exhibition gives you the vivid reminder of how horrible war is, especially this war. Through photos, videos, posters, narrations, dioramas, statues, simulations and more, the exhibition is giving you detailed information from the D-1 of this NZ troops landing in Gallipoli, until the end of it.

Here are some photos I took at Te Pa Pa Museum Wellington during my last visit.

Interestingly and touchingly displaying the personal stories of those involved in this horrible war, the exhibition showed you a lot of history and human touch, as well as the horrible impacts of war.

I personally learnt a lot about the war and how horrible the faith that fell upon those soldiers as well as medical officers who were trapped in Galipoli. My heart wept as I saw the tolling numbers of the death and the terrifying condition of them.

As you all are probably aware of, Galipoli has become one of the vivid reminders of the horrible World War I.

The exhibition is not only displaying the stories of the soldiers, but also the nurses and the doctors. In those dioramas, there are narration being read, telling us the story of these persons. I was so sad when I heard the story of Staff Nurse Lottie who was looking for her brother, Leddie,  but couldn't find him and then stayed to take care of the wounded soldiers at the hospital ship, Maheno, which sailed from Wellington in July 1915.

Here are some more photos I took on the exhibition.

Here's the entrance to the Te Papa Museum in Wellington. I have to say, one visit is never enough and we can go back here anytime as the entrance is free.

I have put the video of my visit to the exhibition on my YouTube channel as well. Feel free to check it out:

So what do you think?

Will you come and visit Te Papa Museum as well?

If you are around, I will be more than happy to take you here and I can definitely explore more!

See you on our next adventure in Aotearoa!
