WW: The Three Sisters and the Elephant Rock

The Three Sisters and the Elephant
The Three Sisters and the Elephant

One of the highlights of our sweet escapade to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo areas here in New Zealand.

The Three Sisters and the Elephant
right on sunset..

As I shared previously in Escapade to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo (Part 1) , we stopped by at the Three Sisters and the Elephant Rock. Check out some photos we took here in this area.

And welcome to the Three Sisters and the Elephant Rock.

The area is also known as Tongapōrutu, which in Maori means the three sisters. As you can see, the rock formation here is grouped into three distinct shapes standing close to one another like the three sisters.

In order to arrive in this very spot, we have to walk from the nearby beach and parking lot during the low tide. It is quite a walk and the beach can be slippery as well. We literally walked down here barefooted as it felt a lot safer. After about 15 minutes walk, we finally saw the three sisters and the elephant.

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and have fun with the link party.

Escapade to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo (Part 1)

Three Sisters and the Elephant
Escapade to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo

During the Lebaran or Eid Al Fitr break, we had an impromptu holiday to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo area.

Since we celebrated the Victory Day on Tuesday, we then had some times around the week before the office started again. We decided to take a short trip,- which then became extended one, to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo areas. And not only us, but 3 other families as well. so in total it was 13 of us!

cheers..

The plan is to see the famous Mount Taranaki and its reflection, visit the Three Sisters and the Elephants, then explore Lake Taupo, including the Huka Falls and the Huka Prawns before heading back to Wellington. Well, We still had time but I was planning to have an open house for Eid Al Fitr on Sunday so we had to be back to Wellington on Saturday.

Our first stop was the city called Foxton.

welcome to Foxton!

We stopped at Cafe de Mollen although unfortunately the cafe was closed.

We still enjoyed the lunch break here on the picnic table in front of the cafe and the mollen, or the wind mill.

We bought some souvenirs as well and tried the Foxton Fizz in raspberries. Delicious indeed and we got some home as well.

the Foxton Fizz is...

We then continued our trip to Mt Taranaki area but apparently we were too late and it was too cold already so we didn't get a glimpse of it. We then went straight to the beach area, the Three Sisters and the Elephant. Lucky us we arrived on time as the sunset was beautifully starting. We walked barefoot from the parking lot to the wonderful arrays of rocks, beach and brilliant sky. It was magical!

Then after a good rest in Coronation Court Motel in New Plymouth, we explored the surrounding areas in the morning before heading to Taupo.

We went to the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge and Fitzroy Beach. The bridge was under renovation but we still managed to enjoy the beautiful view and pathway in this area.

the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge

As it's winter, we certainly did not go to the water LOL. But it was not less fun as we took so many photos here. We finally had a glimpse of Mt. Taranaki here.

On the way to Lake Taupo, we took the State Highway 43 or the Forgotten World Highway.

welcome to the Forgotten World Highway

Although the road was very challenging, the view is so beautiful and at some points it reminded us to Palisades highway back in New York. We stopped by and took more photos in some spots that have autumn signs like those beautiful  foliage trees and deserted roads. Here are the photos we have.

cheers...

Well, that's the first part of our little Escapade to New Plymouth and Lake Taupo this year. Wait for more story and adventures yaaaa.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends and Friends

Eid Mubarak, dear friends

Welcome back!

It has been busy weeks lately after the celebration of Eid al Fitr as well as the Credentials processions of my Ambassador to one of our accredited countries, Cook Islands.

The celebration of Eid al- Fitri has been fun!
We didn't really have a big celebration like the previous year but it is still very solemn and wonderful. It is great to meet our Indonesian sisters and brothers in this auspicious occasion where we share joy and happiness over the arrival of the victorious day. During the weekend, I had open house session where we met many more people and shared more homey food and drinks with friends and families in Wellington.

Wearing my purple kebaya and Balinese hand woven tenun for the Credential ceremony

After the week of Eid Al Fitr celebration, we went straight to Cook Islands for the procession of Credential of my Ambassador. I spent around 6 days on the road and in Rarotonga for that visit. It was packed with meetings with the Queen's Representative, Prime Minister and the dignitaries. We did have  productive meetings back - to back with members of the cabinet, business community, members of Parliament as well as the Indonesian community in Cook Islands. I was so excited to meet the Indonesian citizens there, where some of them have been in the island for more than 15 years. At this moment, we have around 124 Indonesians and more likely we will have more coming in recent months. Many of them have been working at the hospitality, construction and business area.

I also managed to enjoy the beach and some snorkeling session there. We didn't really have much time but for sure we tried to enjoy our stay in Rarotonga. I will share more stories and photos later on here on my blog for sure.

Now, allow me to invite you all to enjoy Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World,  Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends and Friends.

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1443H

Alhamdulillah, the victory day is here!

EID MUBARAK

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1443H

May your day filled with Allah's endless blessings and  forgiveness.

The Frakarsas is sending warm greetings to those celebrating the Eid Al Fitr, the victorious day, after one month of Ramadhan. We sincerely hope we will be able to meet the next Ramadhan. As for this auspicious day, we trust our sisters and brothers are celebrating it with joy and happiness with their loved ones.

My daughter and I

It is the first time for my family and I to celebrate this Eid Al Fitr in Wellington, New Zealand. As much as we miss our dearest family in Indonesia, we are happy to celebrate it with our new family in Wellington. Meeting many lovely  friends from different corners of the city (as well as the country), we definitely expand our sisterhood and brotherhood eventhough we are far away from home.

This Lebaran day festivity is organized by UMI or Umat Muslim Indonesia, the Indonesian Moslem community organization, in Wellington. I will definitely share more stories of our gathering as well as our 'open house' session on the next story.

Cheers from Wellington

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Welcome back to Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Welcome back and how April is soon leaving us!

We are still enjoying Ramadhan and as the school is off, the kids are enjoying their break at home. We don't really get anywhere during this Fall break as going out during fasting might not be as enjoyable as we want it to be. Nevertheless, we spend some quality time together and that's what's important.

I have been wanting to explore the rest of the country during Eid al Fitr break and we sincerely hope that we do have time to do so. COVID-19 is still around us and we just have to remain vigilant. Many places are already open and now we don't have to show vaccine pass or scan the COVID-19 tracker. They are all become voluntary, but wearing mask inside of the closed area or hall is still mandatory. New Zealand will be opening borders in October and we are expecting more people and tourists coming.

Well, so much to be excited about and again, hopefully we all remain healthy in the coming days, weeks and months.

Now, it's time for you all to join us on Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends
