Stunning View of Lampung at Puncak Mas Lampung

Puncak Mas Lampung

Hi everyone...

I sincerely hope you all safe, happy and healthy.
I know that during this pandemic we all need to stay at home and implement 5M in bahasa Indonesia  (no longer 3 M, guys), which are wearing mask, washing hands, keeping physical distance, avoiding crowd, and reducing mobility.

But anyway, I still have some stories from my traveling and we can definitely list it down in our itinerary once the pandemic is over or more manageable.

So, let's go to Lampung! My beloved hometown.

This time let's go to Puncak Mas, Lampung

I really love this spot... although I came here before the pandemic. We came here on the last month in 2019, not long before the pandemic. As you might have been aware of, my family and I love to go back to Lampung whenever we have time.

Puncak Mas Lampung
We came here just before sunset

So, the plan at that time was to catch sunset!
Yes, sunset in many parts of Lampung is awesome indeed.
We came here before sunset and although we didn't really get sunset view but with place looks lovely and dreamy in the evening. The twilights and blinking lights from the surrounding areas as well as Bandar Lampung city and Lampung Bay from afar looks amazing. It looks so romantic!

the lovely sky and the lights

There are many tree houses available there where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of Bandar Lampung city as well as the ocean view. I guess it's the Lampung Bay. the view from the heights is lovely, especially when you come at the right time.

We have to queue to ensure the tree house is not exceeding its capacity for the safety of us all. By the time we were there, as it was before the pandemic, the place was packed. Many of the visitors definitely want to climb up the tree houses and take pictures as well as enjoying the view from the top. I found some stairs are a bit steep and slippery for me but I still managed to climb up and go down carefully.

It has restaurants and food vendors as well, like nasi goreng, mie ayam, pempek and some instant noodles as well as beverages, including ice cream.

So all in all, it is a nice spot for family time or selfie for sure.

During the pandemic, I believe they have the arrangement for the implementation of strict health protocol. Body temperature less capacity and adjusted opening hours. It is best to check the latest updates to see the arrangement during COVID-19.

I hope you enjoy the palce as much as I do and see you on the next story!

WW: Memories of Chinese New Year Celebration

Chinese New Year Celebration in Jakarta
Happy Chinese New Year Celebration

Happy Chinese New Year!

Wishing you all a wonderful, prosperous and productive year of the OX.
I know that we all are still facing the daunting challenges posed by COVID - 19 pandemic and we are working extra hard to fight it in order to survive it. That goes with the same spirit of the ox, which happens to be the symbol of hard working.

Well, regardless whether we believe in those predicaments, I think we all need to remain vigilant yet positive in facing the days ahead.

CNY celebration is identical with dragon or lion dance. Such a great performance. Taken in Paris CNY 2010

Now, I do miss the festive Chinese New Year celebration. Many of Indonesians are Chinese descendants and they usually have that merry celebration welcoming they new year. I mostly attend the celebration, except during this pandemic of course. We usually have the expo or the exhibition, with a lot of performances including the lion or dragon dance, which is called Barongsai, in Indonesia. It was amazing to see this performance live as it requires tremendous skills, flexibility and stamina.

I can only remember the good times we joined friends, families and even strangers in welcoming this Chinese New Year. There are times when we took the trips only to see the celebration of Chinese New Year. We saw the parade, the colorful gatherings with unique performances and incredible costumes and make- up. Truly a feast for the eyes of the spectators!

Look at all the details

Here are some photos I took from the our times in  Paris, New York City and Jakarta celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Hope we all have a wonderful days ahead!
Again, Happy Ox Year and stay strong (like the Ox), happy, safe and healthy.

cheers from me 10 years ago :)

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Second week of February is here and how I race with time! If I can actually do that..

January seems to be very busy as we all work in full gear to prepare many big meetings coming at the end of February and March. Well, works will never cease so we just need a better and better tome management. The working capacity at the office remains low as COVID-19 is still stubbornly and annoyingly lingering, but the work load is still as crazy! Well, I believe team work will definitely the key to our success here! Bon courage!

I have been spending times in doctors’ visits and observation as I thoroughly check my wellbeing and cancer status after entering the 5th year for my oral hormone therapy regime. I guess I will share more stories on that on different posts. My post-menopause abnormalities and bleeding have lead  me to back-to-back obgyn’s visit and we had surprising news indeed. But again, I will spill it later, okay.

Now, are you ready to join Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends? Jump in! Meanwhile, stay safe, happy and healthy!

We hope you will enjoy your visit and find a post of interest and don't forget our hostesses blogs that they share as well, we would love to have you comment!

WW: Mie Bakso Kocok Bandung, Rawamangun, Jakarta

Mie Bakso Kocok Bandung, Rawamangun, Jakarta

Foodie time!

I have been exploring some local food vendors near my house in order to support the local businesses. COVID - 19 pandemic has poses tremendous challenges to all of us, including the small and medium scales businesses. Traditional food vendors are amongst them.

I was lucky to live in the area where food and beverages are abundantly available. Ranging from fancy, international chain food outlets to Indonesian traditional F&B vendors which surely will tempt you to try them all.

Last week I went to warung (Food stall) Mie Bakso Kocok Bandung, meatball soup from Bandung, West Java. What's unique is that this noodle soup use 'yellow' or egg noodles and vermicelli if you like and add extra fat or lard cow besides the yummy meat balls. Well, I don't know the name but it's just delicious. And I asked it to be prepared without the MSG. Still delicious!

a simple food corner but they sell great food

The price of this bowl of mie bakso kocok Bandung is Rp 20.000,- . And I have to say it is a big portion indeed.

Enjoooy!

here's my bowl. Supeer yummy!

this is what my Mom had

So that's a little brunch story in a lovely weekend for me. It feels good to get to try this homey food and help supporting the local business.

Review APA Hotel Keisei, Ueno Akimae Japan

Hi , everyone... all is well? I certainly hope so.

I would like to share more about my trip to Ueno, Japan. I have shared the beauty of Ueno Park (read: Cherry blossoms at Ueno Park, Japan  ) and the surrounding temples as well as things we can do while transiting in Japan  (read: 8 Things you can do while transiting in Japan

Now let me take you to the hotel I chose during my stay in Ueno, Japan. This trip took place in 2018 and it was my first trip to Japan, to be followed by other 3 transits and visit. I have to admit I do fall in love with Japan since my first visit! Well, who wouldn’t?

So, welcome to APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Akimae Japan!

I love this hotel!

It was located in a very strategic location because it is only a walking distance from Ueno station, which is one of the hubs for you who like to visit  Tokyo and the surrounding areas. It is only one fast train away from Haneda airport. Those who want to visit Tokyo on a transit or even spend the night here in Ueno. For me, it is like a great opportunity as I got a chance to  try shinkansen or the fast train as well.

The hotel is not far the famous Ueno Park and all its wonderful temples and museums. It's also near American Market in Ueno, one of the landmarks in the area, and Hard Rock Cafe Ueno if you happen to collect some stuff from them like me and my hubby. Many food vendor and supermarkets are around as well.

The room might be small but it has everything you need. It is very compact yet it is still comfortable. I was enjoying the facilities they have inside the compact room which is surprisingly complete as well. Although it’s small, it has the comfy bed with all its pillows, robe, slippers, working station, all the charging station, evenbooks to read and hair dryer. They also put cute origamis on the sheet as a heartwarming welcome gesture. I am impressed!

The bed is comfy and the amenities are from Shiseido :). Can you imagine that? This brand is very famous and quite expensive in Indonesia LOL.  The rate is manageable and I believe it's sensible for the facilities and location they offer.

Happy to go back here again if I gat another chance to visit Ueno again.

So what do you think about the hotel? I will share more about my visit to Japan soon okay. Meanwhile, stay safe, happy and healthy.

World Cancer Day and Lovepink Indonesia, Wonderful Community Supporting Breast Cancer Patients, Survivors and More

World Cancer Day 2021

World Cancer Day 2021 is here!

Every February 4th, the world commemorates the World Cancer Day.

Cancer, has long been known as one of the scariest diseases. Up til now, statistic shows that approximately 9.6 million people passed away due to cancer each year. Four millions among them prematurely decease with the age ranging 30 - 69 years. We see more and younger victims affected by cancer. With this daunting phenomenon, we need to continue raising awareness about the danger of cancer and what we can do to fight it back and to prevent it. Moreover, we also need to support one another, as there are more and more cancer warriors, fighters, and survivors. And everyone can help of course... through your social media platforms, local communities, and your family.

I support World Cancer Day 2021!

Statistic shows that cancer kills more than AIDS, Malaria, and tuberculosis. Even when these three deadly diseases are combined. Sadly, 70% of those cancer patients reside in developing countries, including Indonesia. However, it is noted that 43% of cancer can be prevented, among others, by reducing alcohol and tobacco consumption, reducing the exposure to cancer triggers, joining vaccination programs and living a healthy life obviously. For sure, the numbers of cancer patients will increase if we don't take any preventive measures, including through awareness raising programs.

Back in 2019, I celebrated the World Cancer Day with so many survivors in Jakarta, parading in Bundaran HI, one of the landmarks of Jakarta ( Read  WW: World Cancer Day 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia). But then 2020 and 2021 was marked with the pandemic and we didn't have our usual event to mark this important day for us. This is indeed the great opportunity to support the awareness raising campaign on the fights against all types of cancer.

Speaking of support, as a breast cancer survivor, I would love to introduce you to Lovepink Indonesia.

Have you heard of Lovepink Indonesia before?

Remember the Pink Virtual Walk which was held on October 4th, 2020?

"Halo teman - teman, apa kabarnya? Tahu ngga kalau  Bulan Oktober diperingati sebagai Bulan  Peduli Kanker Payudara sedunia. Maka dari itu, Lovepink Indonesia ingin mengadakan acara Indonesia Goes Pink 2020 dengan menyelenggarakan Pink Virtual Walk untuk Breast Cancer Awareness.

Beautiful face of Chelsea  E. Ihsan, Indonesian famous movie star, is smiling sweetly on the video I watched at Instagram. Chelsea, the ambassador of Lovepink Indonesia, has long been known as one of the Indonesian celebrities who is highly committed to the fight against breast cancer.  She has staunchly supported her mom in battling cancer and her mom is one of the founders of Lovepink Indonesia. I am so touched when she passionately showed here support to her mom, her mom's friends and all Lovepink Moms as well as breast cancer survivors across the nation.  She said " Your fight is my fight!" and I feel like

As a breast cancer survivor myself, I am honoured to join this supportive and wonderful community. And let me introduce you to Lovepink Indonesia.

Lovepink indonesia (source: http://www.lovepinkindonesia.org/)

Lovepink Indonesia is a non-profit organisation which focusses on awareness raising activities on the early detection of breast cancer through breast self-exam, or in Bahasa Indonesia, SADARI (Periksa Payudara Sendiri), as well as clinical breast exam or SADANIS (Periksa Payudara Secara Klinis), as well as accompanying those fighting breast cancer. Lovepink is a community and survivor-based organization which focuses on all the supportive efforts to breast cancer patients and survivors.

For sure, Lovepink Indonesia is a wonderful community supporting breast cancer patients, Survivors and more.
