WW: Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong, Nusa Penida, Bali

Broken Beach, Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia

Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong are some of the beautiful spots we visited during our trip to Nusa Penida, Bali.

Just like many parts of Nusa Penida Island, Broken Beach as well as Angel's Billabong are indeed lovely and unique. Looking at its distinct geographical features, I guess the name 'broken beach' comes from that particular shapes of the rocks and corals surroundings the area. So does Angel's Billabong.

Compared to Kelingking beach and all the rigorous track we have to go through to reach it, visiting Broken beach and Angel's Billabong are like a walk in the park.

Take a look at these photos and tell me what you think.

The Angel's Billabong.. look at that clear water!

we were enjoying the Angel's Billabong.. but we didn't swim there

The Amazing View of Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida

Hi, everyone!

Ready to join a virtual tour with me and the Frakarsas? Jump in!

Let's start with Kelingking Beach.

So, have you been or seen Kelingking Beach before? Perhaps many of you have seen the viral pictures of this unique shape rock and cliff over a stunningly beautiful beach in many Instagram account. You can also see it on my account LOL.

During our last family trip to Bali in the beginning of December, we decided to take the tour to Nusa Penida island, operated by Idola Fast Boat and chose the full-day West side tour. We visited Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, Angel's Billabong and Crystal Bay. We had private tour with local car and guide as well. It was lovely indeed!

Kelingking Beach has dominated the social media posts from those visiting Nusa Penida, one of the islands in Bali Tiga Nusa or Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. Its unique landscape (some say it looks like T-rex head, some say whales), incredible view, turquoise water, crashing waves and white powdery sandy beach are some of the tempting elements that have captivated people's attention. Being here myself, I have to say it's just breathtakingly AMAZING!

We went here during the pandemic. There is a blessing in disguise when you travel around during the pandemic as it is not as crowded as it used to. I know it's not good for local business but you have to admit you do enjoy having more peaceful time at the tourists' popular spot with less people. The areas are way cleaner as well and you can actually enjoy the place fully, without having to struggle to take pictures here and there just because there are too many people flocking around.

It was good that we came rather early  to the Sanur Beach and Port where we were boarding to Nusa Penida. It was not too packed, although as it got closer to the departure time we had more and more people coming. Well, for a popular spot like Nusa Penida, I guess it was quite packed even during the pandemic. I didn't how it was before the pandemic but I guess it was way busier and more crowded. Once we arrived, we went to the designated desk, got our tickets and ID cards to board the ship. Once the boat was ready, they called all the passengers of Idola Fast boat and we 'climbed' up to the boat.  We needed to take our shoes or sandals, bring our bags and climb up to the boat which was mored slightly away from the beach. Here in Sanur port, there is no jetties or floating ramp for passengers.

getting off the boat..

We took around 40 minutes trip before arriving at Nusa Penida Island. The view along the ride is lovely indeed.  At Nusa Penida Island, we get off on the jetty at the island. I guess the harbour is called Buyuk. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by Bli Gede, our private tour guide as well as our driver with his car. And our private tour began. First stop: Kelingking Beach.

the view along the way..

It took us around 45 minutes to reach Kelingking. The road was a bit rough but we saw the beauty of the island as well. When we arrived, we stopped at the parking lot which was already packed with cars. Apparently this popular spot always has its fans. And I know exacty why. The view is simply BREATHTAKING!

so what do you think about the view?

We saw the Kelingking beach way from above. To reach the beach, we have to take the stairs down. Steep stairs indeed and a bit slippery I have to say. The stairs are not that wise and everyone who wants to go down and up again take the same stairs as it's the only way. But again, as the view is magnificent, it worth all the sweat and pain I believe LOL.

However, we were a bit worried in the first place. People did wear mask but physical distance is a bit problematic as the area is not that spacious and the stairs you use to go down and up are steep and quite small. We took turns with people so that everyone can enjoy every spot Kelingking Beach can offer.

Again, the stairs are steep.. I don't know how many they are but they are tough for those who are not accustomed to. It's also high and you have to be careful. It is safe enough as long as you are paying attention to your steps. The place is surrounded by cliffs with nothing hindering it. That's what makes it beautiful.

You can go down to the beach but again the set of stairs you have to take is a lot. Going down might be manageable but going up is too problematic to me LOL. So make sure you wear the most comfortable shoes and clothes.

There are many cafes and restaurant nearby with nice food & drinks as well as clean toilets. The parking lot is big but I guess it can packed during peak season. The entrance ticket is Rp 5000,- per person for locals. The fee for our trip is Rp 350.000,- per person, all inclusive the return ticket for Nusa Penida - Sanur, 4 spots, private car & guide/driver, as well as lunch. So I guess, I will have to go back with more stories about our visit to Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong and Crystal Bay.

Don't miss this place when you are coming to Bali!

And Nusa Penida, thank you so much for all this unforgettable trip ♥️.

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Welcoming the new year..

Here come 2021 and have a blessed one, everyone!

I have been enjoying 2020, with all its ups and downs, and try to keep the positivity around. Not always that easy as I am sometimes, just like many of us, feel so frustrated. Well, born and raised as a social being, I cannot say I don't miss going out, meeting people and socializing. But hey, when your safety and your life depends on it, you know which one is our priority.

In my office, 2021 kicks in with a big bang! We have the Annual Press Statement of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, outlining the achievements of 2020 and priorities in 2021. I know we have a  lot of  follow-ups and pandemic might pose certain limitation. But I have to admit, I get extra energy looking at those tasks we need to work on. I am blessed to have a dream team at the office and we all support one another in fulfilling all the desired outcomes. Wish us luck, please, so that we can remain high spirited and strong enough to continue the works meaningfully.

Can't wait to explore more parts of Indonesia and the world

As for travel schedule, my hubby and I have pencilled down a few beautiful cities across the archipelago. Oh so many beautiful places to visit and hopefully pandemic will soon go and more manageable in the future. Hopefully our safe, full-observant-to-health-protocol trip can soon be realized, while considering the latest situation on the ground. Fingers crossed!

And now, let's party and welcome the new year in Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends!

We hope you will enjoy your visit and find a post of interest and don't forget our hostesses blogs that they share as well, we would love to have you comment!

WW: Traditional Market at Rawamangun, East Jakarta

Traditional Market at Rawamangun, East Jakarta
Traditional Market at Rawamangun, East Jakarta

Brand new year and how I long for colorful, kinder world.

During the social restriction, which seems to be never ending, we are restrained from going to gatherings and public spaces with lots of people on it. For sure, masks and physical distancing should always be applied.

On one of the first days in 2021, I just walked around to catch some sunlight and get more exercise. I then stopped at the traditional market near our house in Rawamangun. Although it was only a brief stop, I was happy to see those fresh veggies, fruits, fish and more.

I did take pictures and it was very enlightening.

The vibe, the spirit, the joy.

I feel so rich to be surrounded by Indonesia's treasures like its fresh produce, indigenous spices and herbs, local meat and seafood products, as well as traditional munchies.

I feel like there will be hopes we all can cling on to no matter how daunting our days are. And that my friend, is what we need for 2021.

Check out some of these photos I took.

Thank You, 2020

Thank you, 2020

Thank you, 2020!

The year 2020 has been very special to each and every one of us.

This is the year when we witness the unprecedented global crisis which significantly change our lives in so many facets. 2020 has been the year of changes, adaptations, set backs, fear, disappointments, challenges, as well as new adventures, inventions, out-of-the-box ideas and survival. No words can describe it completely as it is really a mélange of emotions and reactions, something that perhaps, we have never thought or done before.

Some might say 2020 is so blurry. There is so much fear confusion, so many uncertainties, so many doubts. So many unanswered questions. Disinformation, misinformation, hoaxes tinted the year like mushrooms in rainy days. There are times when I really hate to see my phone or TV and read or hear the news there. The world and the future look bleak. Frustrating.

Traveling stops. Offices close. Schools and works start from home. Businesses collapse. Jobs lost. Hospitals and medical personnel are overwhelmed. Family gatherings are avoided if not forbidden. The list goes on and on and on.

Yet as times go by, we learn to make peace with this chaotic circumstance. Health protocol is introduced and strongly recommended, if not obliged. Masks are our primary necessity, something we cannot leave home without. Hand sanitizers are always within reach and cleaning hands properly are taught again through various channels and platforms. Never we realize before how basic good habits can save lives!

put on your mask!

Then all of us become digital nomads. We might move here and there or stay at home but we are more connected than ever. Virtual meet-ups and gatherings are on our daily schedules. Shopping, grabbing our favorite munchies and food & beverages, as well as other supplies are done electronically as well. Life is indeed recalibrated! Well, in short, so many things happened, so many changes occurred, so much love and faith embraced. Yet still so much to be grateful for! All those bleak pictures from COVD-19 pandemic also bring about various opportunities and new advantages.

Kalau bicara tahun 2020, rasanya memang nano - nano banget ya.

a little break for our family during the pandemic

honored to be one of the Google Local Guides Guiding Stars 2020

Proud to be Google Local Guides

And for that, my friends, I can never thank my Rabb enough.

Stop! Pause! Postpone! Recalibrate! Revive!

But hey.. we’re re still here. Insya Allah safe and sound! And as long as we hold on to our hope, faith and love, life in 2021 should be brilliant!

So, be grateful!

Here’s to the new year glittered with hope, health, happiness & prosperity!

Bismillahirrahmanirrahiiim..
