Welcoming Jonas

Okay, I just can't help it.

We are sooo excited to finally see NYC turn into winter wonderland once again.
Yuuup...thanks to Jonas, soft, fluffy snow is just knocking everyone door here in the next two days.

Snow storm is definitely not a joke but once you get yourself prepared, you can definitely have a cozy session at home safe and sound.

But we got to admit that everyone got so excited this morning as the first pile of snow just stuck in our window. Kids, especially, as we haven't really get the real feel of winter this time around.

So, Udi just unpacked our ski gear boxes, got everything out, put them on, grabbed our camera and in 5 minutes, we all were ready to hit the road :).

we're having fun, ma :)

Astoria Park, here we come...

cheeers...

cold, cold, cold

The blizzard is indeed here to stay.
Persistently howling since the morning, we waited inside just to see when it would stop for a while so that we could go out and play.
But apparently, it was not happening pretty soon, so we just went out and tried to enjoy the snow as much as we can.

cheers...

After a while the snow gets too cold to handle and the wind really hit our face.
So, we called it a day.
And guess what...we might come back here again tomorrow.

Stay warm, people.

The first day of spring...

Officially, we are in spring now...
Yaaaay...

The blooming season with colorful patches of flowers and greeny lines of trees.

But apparently, winter still loves New York City that much and decides to linger a little while. On the first official day of summer, we have snow coming for most of the day...

It all started with cold morning, followed by shower of snow until late afternoon...

Then after the surgery two days ago, I went back to the office.
I managed to walk to the UN to meet some delegations.
Here, the weather looked bleak already..

not yet blooming...

the snow was coming already...

The meeting was short and I decided to go home early as the snow got heavier and heavier...
Commuting under the heavy snow and slippery roads is quite troublesome...let alone my slow reflex and careful moves after the surgery. But it was managable..

cold day it was..

from Queensboro Plaza train station...

Hoyts Playground, near our house...

Snow is still here and there...
Indeed the first day of spring :)

Well, hope it all melts soon and the real spring is soon coming..
How's spring in your home?

Flushing Meadows in Winter

Well, long weekend is here and we didn't plan to go traveling around thanks to the weather! We have been browsing around and the surrounding states are freezing as well. So, we're just sticking around the city.

Instead, we went to enjoy the snowy day at Flushing Meadows, before hitting the Queens Museum, which I will write in another post :).

Winter at Flushing Meadows

Remember this place?
I wrote about it once, about missing the aliens at Flushing Meadows :)
And of course, the unisphere will catch our attention instantly.
How I love to see the snow around it..
And it was minus 8 degree Celcius at that time...
But Bo et Obi seem to have no problem at all with the biting cold :)

Even the kids were jumping around :)...

enjoying the snow...

Well, since we have no better choice but embracing and enjoying the snow,  we then just enjoy the cold and winter...

the unisphere...

Enjoy the snow, people...and stay warm :)

cheers from the 3 of us...

NYC these days...

overlooking the Queensboro Bridge and East River..
NYC has been very cold lately...

Well, I know, I know..it's winter :). It's the season...
And snowy days can be very beautiful most of the time :).

But still, it's just too cold for me...
My hubby and I just try to recall our days in Geneve, Switzerland but we somehow couldn't remember those super cold days down there. Well, of course NYC is not Geneve! What are you trying to do, Indah :)...

So, .... Layers and layers of warm clothes, winter boots, hot drinks, tolak angin, shovels...
Those are the things that are so close to our hearts these days...

And as I'm commuting on daily basis, things can be tricky most of the times :)..
Super careful walk on slippery ice, dodging the pool of cold, dirty melted snow, delayed metros and buses...
Just have to focus on the street, stop taking pictures and put my smartphones in my pocket :)

But again, I'm impressed..
This city is quite ready for the worsening weather. Remember my story on #blizzardof2015? I just have to keep my self updated all the time and we should be fine.

Don't get me wrong ...I'm not complaining :). I'm just sharing my thoughts and daily pics...

Let's see how NYC look these days...

Here are from Astoria...

Astoria Park..
right in front of my house..

traffic in the tunnel..

slowly driving to Bo's school...I was on the driver's seat..

our morning ritual...

In Manhattan....

soggy snow everywhere..messy :(..
The Rose garden, at the UN...

due to the snow, some services were suspended, including the garbage..

super cold bench...
watch out for the snow...and ice...

my frozen water...left in the car..

one clean corner in Manhattan :)

Well, it was not that bad though..compared to other states :).
So, let's embrace the cold and enjoy winter, shall we....

The aftermath of #blizzardof2015

Yuhuuuu...

As promised here, I'm back with more photos from the aftermath of #blizzardof2015 here in NYC.

Again, we were lucky that the storm was not rampaging our neighborhood.  But I heard that it took its furry to New England area. I hope everyone was fine...

So, with the storm just passed through,  we had snow everywhere. .. And who else would enjoy it? The kids and their mommies :).

smileeeee....
Well, the kids then put on their winter gear. The ski pants, jackets, gloves and beanies. It was still super cold outside. Although the sun was shining. I also made sure they drank their milk and ate first before going out. I just didn't want them to play in the snow with empty stomach and get sick afterwards.

Then, off we went to Astoria Park, just 2 blocks away...

It was already packed with people. We could even hear the kids' joyful scream from afar...

big grin on his face :)
Bo was happily bringing his snow slide. Ready to rumbleeee...

The whole park was turned into a giant snow slide :). Perfect for the kids...

Bo et Obi just directly jumped into their snow slide and slided down...

They even had a race..Bo against Bapak et Obi..

RFK bridge from under...

While mama busy taking pictures. ..and enjoying the serene surroundings..

astoria pool and the famous LIRR bridge...

Then...more fun started we when tried to make 'our picture' on the snow...well, you know..when you just slept on it and got your shape pasted on the snow...

It was truly a terrific day...a blessing in disguise for us :)...

Even Obi enjoyed sliding alone...and screamed on top of her lungs :p...

Well...the aftermath of # blizzardof2015 was fun indeed!

Have you enjoyed playing out in the snow lately?
