Making Strides against Breast Cancer - Join the fun and help

19 October 2014.

It was cold.
And still early.
Even the sun was shyly shining.
Freezing wind swept my body, made me shuddered.
Bo et Obi, walked along besides me that morning, were surprisingly in very good mood although I woke them up so early in the morning.
I  told them that we were going to walk.
Early morning walk in Fall crispy, cold morning is not always a good combination for kids.
But there we were, holding hands embracing one another, toughened ourselves for a new chapter of my life.
Our lives.

with my kiddos :)

That was my first walk.
Joining Making Strides against Breast Cancer in Central Park in 2014, just a few days after my second AC chemo.
The toughest chemo session which took away my fitness, my energy, my hair and so much more.  Giving me endless nausea, stained, broken nails, and unprecedented bleeding here and there.
But it can never take away my spirit!
My determined heart to get rid of this horrible cancer.
My endless spirit to get my health back!
To live longer and make beautiful memories with my kids, my family, my beloved.
To celebrate more birthdays.

So I braved my heart, prepared my body and soul, to join my first Making Strides against Breast Cancer. Central Park was my choice, beautiful heart of New York City.
I didn't know what to expect, walking for 5 miles,  as I couldn't even keep my body straight for more than 2 hours after my chemo.
But deep  down inside, I knew I could do it.
I knew I should join and I would make it.

And how I felt at home!
Since the very first time we arrived at Central Park Band shell, where the walk started, my spirit soared high seeing the other survivors and those who have been touched by cancer in any ways.

Although that morning was drop dead cold, my heart was engulfed with eternal warmth.
The warmth of love!
The insatiable power of love, of pride, of accomplishment.
That together, we can fight this fight.
Walk this path to recovery.
Beat cancer!

That's my first public appearance with my bald head.
BALD ..
Or BOTAK in bahasa Indonesia, my mother tongue.
Not a single hair that I used to love and be proud of.
But look, I might loose my hair thanks to cancer, but I gain so much more!

The love of my family and people around me, my confident,  my better and healthier life, my strength, my faith.
My fight.

Here's the complete story: Making Strides against Breast Cancer ...The D-Day

So, that's my first walk with Making Strides against Breast Cancer Central Park.
And I am sooo ready to walk again.
To join those who want to finish the fight.
It's October again and you know what that means!

After the storm

Got a chance strolling around Central Park after Niko storm that hit NYC on Thursday, February 9, 2017.
It was two days after the storm but the weather was still freezing.
Well, at least for me :).

And you know, after the storm, it looks utterly beautiful out there.
Just like in our life.
After all the downs and tricks life could play on us, never lose hopes.
As the brightest sky will emerge.
After the storm.

So, do you like strolling around the park as well?
I always enjoy this beautiful park in all seasons
And if you have read my blog for sometimes, you will notice that I have posted several photos and stories about Central Park.

one of the bridge..

As you can see, the greyish, wintery sky still looks lovely after the storm.

Autumn Sky

After two weeks of super cold weather, New York City enjoys balmy weather, again.

And autumn sky is magnificently beautiful.

Blue, fluffy sky with a mixture of warm, earthy colors

We decided to go out and enjoyed Central Park.

Rowing a boat on the lake and having a great family time

Enjoying the balmy weather while we can :)

How's your autumn?

An Afternoon at Central Park

New York City is warmin' up.
If not burning.
Or more appropriately, hot and humid.

I didn't remember New York City this hot.
Last year we spend our summer break in North Carolina and Florida, which are hotter, almost always above 100 degree Farenheit or  around 35 degree Celcius. Well, what are you expecting, it's the capital of sunshine :).

Again, we are so used to the sunny weather, just like back home. But somehow, I thought NYC in summer is hotter than Jakarta. Or perhaps, I don't expect NYC to be this hot.

Anyway, hot, sunny weather does not prevent us from walking out with the kids. And Central Park is one of our favorite spots. And an afternoon at Central Park is always lovely.

First, because it's beautiful. Alot to see and it's huge, so the kids can just run around freely. Stretching more than 50 blocks, we have a lot of space and choices as well.

Then it's so easy to reach with our Subway line. Take N or Q and stop at 5th Avenue and 59th street. And voila, one block away is Central Park.

And, finally, the kids love to be here to catch more Pokemon. I know, don't give that look LOL. And I guess I will l get back with more story on that.

look at all those Pokemon lovers :)

Well, another thing I love about Central Park is that there are so many beautiful photo spots. On the last visit, we only strolled around the 59th street, near the Grand Army Plaza. We have the statue of General Sherman, beautifully guided by an angel to victory.

looks so royal..
Nowadays, we can easily capture all those beautiful places and moments.
Just take out your smart phone, aim and shoot.

it has its own story of immigrants :)

As always, the blue sky will always be the perfect background.

the mesmerizing blue sky
So, that's our afternoon at Central Park.
I hope you get to enjoy the clear blue sky as well, wherever you are.
Cheers...

Crispy Morning at Central Park

Central Park.

What do you have in mind when you hear  about this place?

Clear blue sky?
Beautiful lines of trees?
Doozing off in the Sheep Meadows?
Wonderful statutes and kids plazing zone?
Climbing rocks and hilly steps overlooking Manhattan?
Rocking the boat on the lake while waiting for sunset?
Or simply leisure walk from on corner to another?

Or perhaps, all of the above?

Winter, spring, summer or fall, Central Park will always be a perfect sanctuary for those who seek peaceful moments amidst the comforting beauty of green lush trees.

No wonder whenever I have friends coming and visiting NYC, they make sure that Central Park is in their itinerary.

So one crispy morning, Bo and I managed to stroll around Central Park, enjoyed the cool breeze and took a view photos.

Udi dropped us there because it was a bit cold and my friend only had a few hours before leaving NYC. Subway was there but taking the car on Sunday morning was easy.
We got ample time to catch up and take a walk around the park.

Bahagia rasanya.
Bisa menikmati birunya langit, hijaunya pohon dan segarnya udara pagi.
Alhamdulillah...
Merci ya Rabb.
