WW: Bali from Above and Beyond

Bali, Indonesia from above
Bali from Above

I have recently stumbled upon old photos from my phone and just realized I have almost 5000 photos taken in and around Bali!

Well, coming back and forth to this breathtaking island of the Gods and Goddesses does not stop me from taking pictures here and there even though I might visit the same spot in Bali. No wonder I have so many pictures of them and that's only in one of my phones LOL. Not to mention other footages I took with my DSLR or GoPro and others.

These one I took back in 2018, one of the business trips I had in Bali. I remembered staying in Kuta area for the meetings and strolling around in this never-sleep area (obviously before the pandemic) was joyous fun.

My recent trip to Bali also gave me the opportunity to capture more beauty Bali can endlessly offer. Lucky me, right! Here are some of the random photos I took while in Bali.

Tell me what you think!
Which part of Bali you enjoy most?
The beach, the sky, the rice field, the food, the culture, the people, or all of them?

WW: Desa Panglipuran Bali - Panglipuran Traditional Village Bali

Still from Bali, the magnificent land of the Gods and Goddesses.

This time I will briefly take you to Desa Panglipuran Bali - Panglipuran Traditional Village Bali, before I tell you all the details of my visit in the next post. Visiting Bali for god-knows-how-many-time, I try to seize the opportunity to explore all unique places Bali offers.

Panglipuran village  is located in Bangli Regency, not too far from Denpasar, Bali or around 45 km. It took us around slightly more than 1 hour due to traffic. Well, it's not that bad as you are visiting a beautiful place indeed.

Here you will experience first hand the live of the Balinese people in their natural habit and environment. You will see their beautiful, religious way of living as is, not in the form of acting whatsoever.

You will enjoy incredible Temple, traditional houses, kitchen as well as food & beverages, wonderful trekking, bamboo forest, ceremonial and sacred dances and more. The entrance ticket is only Rp 25.000,- or less than USD 2 for locals. Love it!

As you step in to this beautiful traditional village, you will be engulfed by its rich tradition and religious cultures Balinese is famous for. The colorful sesajen, the sound of the bamboo wind chimes, the kids running around freely.. Heaven! And this place is utterly clean!

Here are some photos I took in the area. Hope you like it!

Nook Restaurant, Bali - Wonderful Eateries in the Middle of the Paddy Fields

Do you look for wonderful ambience to enjoy around your meal?

Well, I do!

Whenever I get a chance to come to one particular area, I would definitely try to find unique, wonderful restaurant to enjoy.

On my last trip to Bali, I managed to eat in Nook, one cozy restaurant in Kerobokan, Bali. Although I was traveling during Ramadhan, we managed to stop by at lovely restaurants in the area, including this one.

Nook is a great place to chill, relax, and taste the food while enjoying the soothing green Paddy fields in Bali! The ambience and the interior design are so homey and inviting as well.

Don't you just love it!

We went here during Ramadan and we came by to have Ifthar with friends. They do have this lovely ambience because the restaurant is located in the middle of the rice field. So as you enjoy the food and drinks, you will be serenaded by breeze, wind chymes, and singing birds. How do you like that? Super peaceful indeed.

You can definitely order yummy, delicious food here. Find yourself a melange of Western food as well Indonesian and Balinese food to your liking. Here you can have burgers, steak, and pasta as well as sandwiches. They also serve Indonesian food. As for drinks, there are a lot of choice you us to explore. Again, including Indonesian beverages like teh sereh and jahe merah or red ginger.

I tried the Nasi Campur Special, the traditional Balinese plate with complete mini main course starting from rendang, chicken, urap or fresh veggies, sambal matah, tempe and tofu, corn fritters and sate lilit or minced fish satay a la Bali. Super good! I have my infused water and lime ginger hot tea. All is delicious. My friends tried Sirloin steak, spaghetti, and ayam geprek.

Cozy spot we have here...

The service is fast, waiters are friendly. They are very friendly indeed and for sure they can give you all the recommendations for the best food and beverages you like.

I really love the decorations, comfy seats and sofas as well as the ambience here. Let's take a look at photos I took around this cozy place.

The parking lot is not that big but there are staff who can help you finding the spot nearby as well. So parking is manageable. This place is disability friendly as well and again the staff will be more than happy to help. Happy to recommend this place for sure!

So, will you come here when you are around?
I sincerely hope so! And see you on the next adventure!

Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends

Marhaban ya Ramadhan

I sincerely hope everyone is safe, happy and healthy wherever one is!

Welcome back and here we go on another edition of Wonderful Wednesday with me in My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends.

Conrad Bali during the pandemic
Cheers from Bali ..

Wonderful Ramadhan is still with us and I spent most of my time with my family. Well, as much as I could. I do go back to traveling again but only for short period of time and domestically. Full observance to the health protocol, traveling during Ramadhan can be a bit tricky sometimes. But so far it has been smooth and alhamdulillah  I managed to travel to Bali in 5 days. Before and after, we always have to do the test, usually antigen swab, to ensure we are free from COVID-19 even though I have travelled and met other. With that assurance, I feel safe of returning to my family again.

a little break amidst the meetings we had

I am happy that my kids, Bo et Obi, as well as my niece who lives with us now, observing their fasting month faithfully. The good thing about celebrating Ramadhan in Indonesia is that the fasting hour is moderate, around 13,5 hours, and most of us are fasting as well. It really helps, especially for my kids who are still learning about Ramadhan. I remember when we had to observe Ramadhan in New York City and in Geneva. It was summer and the fasting hours were long. But then again, alhamdulillah, all went well. Again, we don't force them but gradually teach and observe the holy month together.

I was actually scheduled to fly to Makassar and Toraja for coordinating meetings but since the numbers of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta and the surrounding cities are rising again. Well, probably it's the best for all of us, since we never know when the infection took place. Staying safe is the best option for now.

So, now.. are you ready to join me Wonderful Wednesday with My Purple World, Oh My Heartsie Girls and Friends? Come aboard.

We hope you will enjoy your visit and find something that arouses your interest and don't forget our hostesses have great posts they share as well.

WW: Sunrise at Tanjung Benoa - Conrad Bali

 Sunrise.

Amazing phenomenon that is always successfully taking my breath away.

No matter  where it happens, in different parts of the world, it will always such a solemn moment for me.

Sunrise at Tanjung Benoa - Conrad Bali
Morning with Sunrise at Tanjung Benoa - Conrad Bali

Recently I visited Bali again and as I stayed in one of my favorite hotels here, Conrad Bali, I once again witnessed the breathtaking view of sunrise here. That happened to be the Earth Day as well. I was so blessed indeed.

Tanjung Benoa area has been famous for its sunrise. It has become the center of water sport as well. As my room is facing the beach side of the hotel, I can hear the happy scream from those enjoying parasailing and jet skies near here. I even noticed some dive center around the hotel, although unfortunately I haven't got a chance to take a dive trip myself. Not during my working visit. Nevertheless, I would be happy to go back for that.

Well, hope you enjoy this sunrise as well.
