WW: Monkey Forest, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

The Monkey Forest, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

One of the must-see attractions in Ubud is the Monkey Forest, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

This sacred place offers not only the quirky up-close-and-personal encounter with the smart monkeys in their loving home, but also plush tropical jungle and ceremonious temples.

My family and I arrived here before lunch and we spent around 1.5 hours trekking the wooden path and meeting those cute monkeys. We bought the ticket at the entrance gate which costs us 60K Rupiah per adult and 30K Rupiah for kids under 12.

my daughter Obi was so curious about these monkeys

Well, at first we thought it might be a bit scary to be that close with the monkeys. And we are not talking about 1,2, or 3 monkeys, but lots of lots of them although you don't always see them. Nevertheless, if we follow all the rules and regulations, we can definitely enjoy this sacred ground. For sure, you should not feed the monkey and don't look them in the eyes as that is the sign of aggression.

Here are a few photos we took on the visit.

Every monkey seems busy with their own business :)

I was fascinated to see the monkeys against the backdrop of beautiful forest. Yet we were heading back to Jakarta that day and we needed to catch the flight. I really recommend this place and hope you will get a chance to visit it.

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and enjoy the link part.

  1. Looks like a cool place to visit except that I have a phobia for monkeys especially macaques!

    Happy Sunday, Indah!

  2. I was here last year, but I only reached the main entrance, because I came too early in the morning, the staffs had not arrived, and I only had 30 minutes left to stay. Sometimes the guidance on Google about the opening hour did not match with the actual one.
    Gotta come back again soon.

Waktu maen ke THR Juanda sama Nchie, ada monyet yang nayambar makanan kami secepat kilat. kaget, tapi untungnya lagi ngobrol sama pemilik kafe di situ jadi ga terlalu terpengaruh

thank you for sharing this mbak Indah. On the road near Lake Toba, there are also lots of monkeys. When I saw them, I fed them. However, I did it from inside the car.

  25. Pas ke monkey forest bertemu pasangan yang sedang preWed memakai baju adat khas Bali. Saya malah lebih tertarik melihat mereka ketimbang melihat monyet-monyet berseliweran. Hihi
