Wonderful Wednesday with Oh My Heartsie Girls

June is finally here!
How the clock is ticking for us.
We are progressing in preparing our move back to Indonesia this summer.
I hit the 100th box, yaaay!
I don't know whether I have to be happy or worry but hey, I'm not only packing all the stuff that we will need back home but we're also packing some sweet, unforgettable memories from the Big Apple :). I know it might sound dangerous as we might end up piling all this unnecessary 'junk' (as my hubby would put it) but I think I can handle it for now.
As always, when it comes to packing, the most difficult time is to separate the to-keep and to-toss-away items. God has mercy on me :).

Some of my weaknesses, decorative pillow.
Well, enough said for the packing.
We have an exciting week as well as our campaign for the seat of the Non-Permanent member of the United Nations Security Council is reaching its final week.

The election itself will be held on June 8th, 2018. We just had our reception on Monday, June 4th 2018, with the presence of our Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Retno Marsudi.
It was a blast, with hundreds of invitees from Diplomatic Communities were attending our party at the UN Delegates Dining Room.
And we bring some tropical touch to United Nations headquarters!

we haven't finished this corner when I took the photo

WW: The Halal Guys

Meet one of the best, most famous and yummiest food carts in New York City.
The Halal Guys!

The Halal Guys

I have been enjoying their food since my early days here in the Big Apple back in early 2014.
They don't have many options but what they have is the best!
I am talking about chicken and beef gyro as well as falafel over rice or in sandwiches.
With only USD 8 for chicken and beef gyro as well as falafel over rice, and USD 6 for the same thing in sandwiches, no wonder the Halal Guys has become a hit since I don't know when :).
Besides, you can also enjoy baklava for USD 2 and pita & hummus for USD 3.
So affordable.

Long line indeed

I love the food because it is halal (obviously) and delicious.
I have to say the Halal Guys is one of the pioneers of the American halal food and now they have become an international restaurant chain.
I know that the Halal Guys is already open in Indonesia as well.
For us moslems living in a country like the US, finding halal food is not always that easy.
Sometimes we eat everything but the pork and anything that has pork on it, but the best is to  eat halal food which is prepared in a special way.
Nowadays, we have halal food in many parts of NYC, be it food carts or restaurants.

And as Ramadhan is here, my family and I truly enjoy this delicious and halal plates for our ifthar.  Alhamdulillah.

Here's where you can find the Halal Guys on its original spot.
On the corner of 53rd st and 6th avenue.
Make sure you don't miss it!

Do you like chicken and beef gyro?
Have you tried halal food?
Do you like it?

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and have fun with the linky party :)

Uraeus - Anselm Kiefer at Rockefeller Center

Clear blue sky at Rockefeller Center!

I was strolling around Rockefeller Center and enjoying another art presentation here.
This time we have Uraeus, interesting work of Anselm Kiefer.
Huge open book that has wings, with a large snake crawling up.
Interesting, isn't it?
Against the blue sky, this statue is really striking.

Here's what I got from Rockefeller Center's website regarding the work:

"The sculpture's cryptic title, Uraeus, refers to the erect shape of the Egyptian cobra, associated with the serpent goddess Wadjet and a symbol of power and divine authority. The wings evoke the headdresses and necklaces worn by Egyptian royalty in homage to the vulture goddess Nekhbet. Wadjet and Nekhbet were the guardians of Lower and Upper Egypt, respectively, and following ancient Egypt's unification, became the joint patrons of the civilization."

It is put in the Channel Garden facing the Fifth Avenue and will be displayed from May 2nd to July 22, 2018.

Join us on Skywatch Friday and enjoy the beauty of the skies from all over the world
