Sunny Day at West Point

We were enjoying one lovely sunny day at the US Military Academy at West Point.

wet point
so serene

After having a tiring, wallet-breaking shopping session at Woodbury Factory Outlet, we decided to stop at West Point to see the complex and watch the 4th of July concert as well as fireworks. But we were not that lucky in finding the parking spot.
All was booked and the only one left were those far, far away from the venue of the concert. So we decided to go around the complex and took pictures.
It was fun as well and the lake (I guess) inside the complex is beautiful!

Luks Reservoir, West Point

They do open the complex for tour and at that day, they had the annual concert so people were flocking here. We stopped at one of the fields, I guess they are for softball and lacrosse, and took a break enjoying the peaceful view of the lake or rather a reservoir.

We also stopped for a while at one of the chapel for the Cadets and enjoyed the scenery from uphill. I love the details and the Gothic style of this Chapel.

US Military Academy West Point is located at the city of West Point in New York State, about an hour drive from New York City.
It is an interesting place to visit when you are around the city and heading to Woodbury Factory outlet or the surroundings.

WW: Hessian Lake, Bear Mountain NY

Wonderful week we have here :)

Just had a brief stop at Hessian Lake, Bear Mountain, New York and look what we found!
Breathtaking scenery for you to enjoy.

Feels like swimming down here? Icy cold for sure :)

on the other side...

Join us on (almost) Wordless Wednesday and have a great linky party!

Lake Montauk, Long Island, New York

That windy day ...
The greyish sky welcomed us as we stepped out of the car and breathed the familiar salty air from the Atlantic ocean.
How we love the sea...

But wait a minute...
The board says Lake Montauk.
Lake, not the ocean...

At the very end point of Long Island, Lake Montauk was once a fresh water lake, the largest in Montauk, until it was open to the sea in 1924 "as part of Carl Fisher's Montauk Resort".  Well, it was meant to be the "Miami Beach" of the North but apparently the hurricane in 1936 shuttered that plan along with the fishing village along this shore.
That's what the information on the board says.

Somehow, this very spot remains a beautiful merge between the flowing lake and the ocean...
A we all witnessed that day...

Bear Mountain and Perkins Memorial Tower, NY

If you are longing to enjoy beautiful green scenery while staying in NYC and the surroundings, Bear Mountain can be a perfect alternative :).

Yuuup...Bear Mountain

The first time I hear this place name, I imagine bears are freely roaming around in this area. Well, at least they used to..perhaps :).

For sure, Bear Mountain Park is one of NY state parks along the rugged mountain near Hudson River. Providing its visitors with large playing field, swimming pool, an inn with spa, resto and souvenir shop, and a fascinating merry-go-round (only a dollar per ride :)), you can also take its famous path heading to the summit of Bear Mountain to enjoy spectacular view from above. Ow, and they have installed an ice rink during winter as well for all to enjoy! SOunds like fun, right...

Located near the Harriman Park Estate in NY state, it took us around 1.5 hour drive from New York City. Taking the Palisades route, we visited this place together with some friends, Nona and Nara. It was a fun ride with a quick stop at the scenic view spot along the way, overlooking Hudson river from another part of the city. As it was a nice and war day, we planned to have picnic as well with nasi uduk on the menu (don't get bored, this nasi uduk or Indonesian rice with coconut milk is indeed my favorite :)).

We somehow made some wrong turns and end up taking the path to Perkins Memorial Tower.

the tower...
It was in the same area as Bear Mountain and getting lost here proved to be a blessing in disguise. We found another perfect spot for photo session, hahahaha. Lucky us :).

After parking our car, we made a little hike and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery from the top.

the parking lot...

It was lovely...
You can enjoy the view of Bear Mountain, with its lake, bridge and river from above.

around the Tower...

Even Bo was fully enjoying the warm day with his scooter :)

Bo and his scooter...

careful Bo....

Then of course, Obi was soon joining us and more pictures are taken :)

Look at Bo fierce face and Obi's smile :)....

View from the top...

the three of us...

Near the Perkins Memorial Tower, we found this gorgeous rustic bench which was the perfect spot for another pose under the blue sky.

My smiley Obi :)
all of us, except Udi :)
Bo et Obi...

Apparently, Perkins Memorial Tower is beautifully adorned its natural beauty. And we just can't get enough of it...

After being around the tower for about an hour, we finally drove down to Bear Mountain.
It was pass lunch time so everyone was hungry :). But as laid our eyes on the beauty of Hessian Lake, we took some pictures first before enjoying our picnic.

Hessian Lake...

lunch timeeeee....
After our quick lunch, we explored the area and headed to the merry-go-round. Bo, Obi et mama were having fuuun here :)

round round in merry-go-round...

The Inn...

Well, quite a lovely journey to Bear Mountain and Perkins Memorial Park.
Maybe next time we will try Bear Mountain Inn as well :)
Get more information on its website and have a great day in Bear Mountain :)

Into the woods..

No, this is not about that movie :)

It's just me sharing my photo while exploring the Bear Mountain area here in NY and love the ambience during the twilight hour.

The sky, the sun, the trees, the lake....

Truly a great creation of the Almighty.

Long and winding road

I know I'll have the long and winding road ahead, but surely I will enjoy every curve of it :)..

Minggu lalu, saat melewati jalanan sepi menuju area 7 Lakes di seputar New York, saya spontan meminta Udi, my hubby, untuk berhenti.

Saya terpaku...

Sejenak menikmati sepenggal mahakarya - Nya di musim gugur yang indah tak terperi...

It took my breath away...

Begitu mudahnya Engkau mengangkat semuanya, Ya Rabb...
Begitu indahnya Engkau memberi semangat hidup untuk hamba-Mu yang lemah ini...

Alhamdulilaaah. ..

Aaah, saya memang tidak pandai merangkai kata-kata...

But one thing for sure, I have everything to be grateful for on every step that I make...

The autumn leaves....

I sincerely hope it's not too late to share the beauty of my favorite season here, autumn...fall...

7 lakes drive...

Remember the song? I keep playing it in my heart :)
As the weather became somehow friendly enough for me lately, we manage to go and enjoy nature at its best...

The autumn leaves, at the surrounding NYC...

Just one hour drive from the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleep, my family and I found peace among the autumn leaves...

The flowing water at the creeks and clear blue sky reflected on it surely refresh your body, mind and soul...

The pristine beauty of mother nature that simply takes your breath away...

All in all, autumn is always, and will always be, my favorite season...

Silvermine lake, NY

I sincerely hope you enjoy your autumn...wherever you are...

All photos are taken in Palisades Interstate Parks, 7 Lakes Area, NY...
