Bo et Obi's Diary : #Bicycle days...

Once upon a time...in a happy, happy land, lives a young boy named Bo an d his lovely, curly sister, Obi...

They love playing outside with some friends and ride on their bicycles...

posing on Bo et Obi's bikes :D...

Sometimes, they take turns and ride with each other, strolling around the complex happily :D. Until one day, fairy mommy brings a new purple bike for Obi...

Well, enough with the prelude :D

Weekend has just passed and how I cherish my moments with the kids... Pokoknya, kalau bisa puas main dengan anak-anak itu rasanya anugrah bangeeet :D...

I just wanna share the joy and happiness of Obi (and Bo as well :D) for (finally) having her own bike :D...after waiting for some times, we finally decided to get Obi a new bike, as I've written here before :D...

Such a simple joy, yet it warms our hearts.. As every day, as bright as the sun, Obi wakes up and happily jump to her bike to greet the day, say hi to her friends, or simply ride around the corner of the house while singing her favorite songs.

Amat and Yossie, Obi's sidekicks, will faithfully wait outside to have a ride or two with Obi just before they go to kindergarten. Obi is the youngest in this kids' group yet she knows how to handle the crowds :D...

Buuut...wait till Abang Bo comes and joins...more loud voices are coming from those kids...Hopefully screams of joy and excitement, although that's not always the case :). Kids around the complex usually have their routines as well every weekend, pedaling around under the supervision of relaxing mommies who chatted in the small park within the complex.

raedy to raceeee.....Obi looks so serious here :D>..

Last weekend, we got a chance to try car-free day in Thamrin and Sudirman street, our main roads in the center part of Jakarta, the Capital. Starting from 6 am to 12 am, every Sunday, people can enjoy this usually-packed-of-cars roads freely without the presence of cars and motorbikes.

no cars today...yaaaay....

And we packed the kids' bikes on our trunk, parked in the nearest parking space and off we went joining thousands (I guess...it was sooo crowded...) of people enjoying their weekend as well here...

Bapaaaak...please check my tires...
And those streets are indeed packed of people. Not only those jogging, walking, and riding their bikes, but also street performers, vendors and artists :D...

time for a break...I'm tired mommy....

In one corner, we also saw people flocking around our famous Governor, Jokowi :D..TV crews interviewed him and some passer-by took the opportunity to get a shot with him. Well, we were not that lucky this time, though...

people flocking to see our Governor..can you spot him? :D...

In Selamat Datang monument, or famously known as Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI), more spectacles were held. One promoting new released movie, others gathering fund for their theater project. Others were just peacefully spreading pamphlets of their movement while families and friends also got together giggling and munching snacks they got from home or bought here.

Selamat Datang monument welcomes everyone...

Speaking about munching (one of my favorite pastime :D...), we got so many food vendors around as well...

Let see, whether some of this food sounds familiar to you :D:
1. bubur ayam or chicken porridge,
2. ketoprak or a mixture of fried tofu, vermicelli, beansprout and peanut sauce (ooh sooo yummy...)
3. cilok or tapioca flour fritters with chili and peanut sauce, 4. kue ape or Indonesian style pancake with thin sweet-flavor wheat flour and thicker part in the middle (such a long description :D)
5. kue pancong..or traditional flour batter mixed with coconut milik and grated coconut cooked in a specially designed pan.

and sooo many moreee...All of these can be easily bought and cheap as well..for 1 dollar or two, you got your yummy choice already :D...Too bad I don't have the photos.

So, in conclusion, it was quite an entertaining day for us indeed :D...Should come more often, I guess, as kiddos truly enjoy their bike rides. And it was such a luxury for me as well, spending lovely uninterrupted time with Bo, Obi et my munchkin :D..

And back to bicycle, it is indeed good exercise for the kids and us as well. I love the fact that kids spend more time outside and healthily move their bodies. Let alone training their reflect and balance which are good for their overall growth. Plus, introducing discipline on the street in a fun way...when to stop, when to carefully cross the street, and when to pay attention to the roads.

Aaah, bicycle days...we'll come back for more...

  1. That's a great idea to make a day for that. Our oldest knows how to ride, but our youngest is still working on it.
